There are two versions of Variations in Blue, an Abridged version (single page) and a Full version (double page). The Abridged version could also be used by more advanced pianists for sight-reading practice. This piece has a simple bluesy theme followed by two variations; it concludes with the original theme. The Abridged version uses only the simple bluesy 16-bar theme. While Variation 2 (Full version only) changes metre from four to three, the speed of the beat is the same.
