This popular standard and Best Academy Award Song of 1961 was recorded by vocalist, Audrey Hepburn.  It became  the theme song for Andy Williams and was recorded by many other singers. The memorable song, which was nearly cut from the movie, was sung by Audrey Hepburn in the movie “BREAKFAST AT TIFFANYS.”

I was inspired to create this piano arrangement of MOON RIVER for my dear friends Judy and Milt who celebrated their wedding anniversary on June 30, 2024. This was their song 56 years ago.

This Intermediate piano solo arrangement is written in the key of C and then modulates to the key of E Flat. It is clearly and carefully notated with dynamic marks, phrasing, suggested fingerings, pedal indications, chord identifications and appropriate musical terms for playing.

The left hand sometimes incorporates arpeggiated patterns made up of 9th triplets while the right hand utilizes traditional chords, octaves and intervals or thirds with a touch of jazz harmony.     

This piano arrangement sounds artistic and impressive, a wonderful selection, ideal for teaching, recitals and enjoyment.
