While many people are familiar with the melodic tune by Richard Storrs Willis, a different setting of the beloved Christmas carol was written by another composer Arthur Sullivan (of Gilbert and Sullivanfame). These two melodies have become intertwined and partnered into this arrangement. Beginning with the Willis melody then followed by the Sullivan, the key change brings both melodies together seemingly acting as countermelodies at times to each other. This lyrical arrangement will bring a renewed spirit to your Christmas celebrations.

Onward Christian Soldier by Arthur Sullivan was composed in 1871. It is a lively and compelling march that has been continuously popular with Protestant congregations for 150 years. The Salvation Army adopted it as a favorite processional early in the 20th C. This hymn is often sung at military funerals including that of American president Eisenhower in1969. Apart from its obvious martial associations, the song has also been embraced by political causes such as the American civil rights movement.
It is arranged here as an Intermediate Piano Solo and is included in McIntire's series, Gospel Piano Series. Other hymns in the series include: The Church in the Wildwood, Bring Them In, Wonderful Words of Jesus, Whispering Hope and Jesus Is Calling.

The Mikado; or, The Town of Titipu is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert, their ninth of fourteen operatic collaborations. It opened on 14 March 1885, in London, where it ran at the Savoy Theatre for 672 performances. The popular overture contains several themes from the opera and makes an attractive piano solo lasting about 8 minutes.

Who Is On the Lord's Side? with the tune name of Armageddon is a gospel hymn published in 1877 that has continued to increase in popularity into the 21st Century. It is combined here with Onward Christian Soldiers, the well-known 19th-century hymn with lyrics by S. Baring-Gould and music by Arthur Sullivan. These inspiring hymns are combined here in a medley for Intermediate Piano Solo. The result is a rousing march or processional sure to be a foot-tapping pleaser.
