Composed by Sarah Fawcett. Classical,Instructional. Score (Chords/Lyrics). 23 pages. Songburd Music #1051618. Published by Songburd Music (A0.1473897).

Some of you may know that there are numerous benefits to playing music for your baby both in utero and after birth, and one aim of these lullabies is to enhance your and your baby’s special journey through a shared, intimate musical experience.

These lullabies can be played by anyone with some basic piano or guitar skills. They came about at the request of some of my adult piano students, particularly pregnant mothers, new mothers, grandmothers, and grandfathers seeking something easy to play, preferably with chord symbols, for their newborns and young children.

And so, these seven lullabies came into being. They are simple to play. Some of you may choose to use the chord symbols to create the chords on the piano or guitar rather than the notated accompaniment and add the tune while playing to your little ones. Others may prefer to use the full accompaniment. Elder siblings, significant others, family friends, and relatives also enjoy playing and sharing these songs.

I hope you enjoy playing and singing them and that they will become enduring memories of these special times in your shared lives. They are dedicated to the youngest members of my family and come with my warmest wishes.

By Chad & Jeremy. By Ann Ronell. Arranged by John Fries. 20th Century,Blues,Jazz,Standards. Score. 2 pages. John Fries #1090819. Published by John Fries (A0.1516646).

TYPE JOHN FRIES IN THE SEARCH BAR TO SEE ALL I HAVE TO OFFER. Thank you, John. Willow Weep for Me is a popular song composed in 1932 by Ann Ronell, who also wrote the lyrics. One account of the inspiration for the song is that, during her time at Radcliffe College, Ronell had been struck by the loveliness of the willow trees on campus, and this simple observation became the subject of an intricate song. The song was rejected by publishers for several reasons. First, the song is dedicated to George Gershwin. A dedication to another writer was disapproved of at the time, so the first person presented with the song for publication, Saul Bornstein, passed it to Irving Berlin, who accepted it. Other reasons stated for its slow acceptance are that it was written by a woman and that its construction was unusually complex for a composition that was targeted at a commercial audience.
