Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1119079 By Blaze Scheuerman. By Blaze Scheuerman. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period,Video Game. Score. 14 pages. Blaze Scheuerman #720207. Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1119079). The 3rd and final movement to Blaze Scheuerman's A Journey Through Time Piano Sonata, A Struggle For The Future follows a conflict between two separate themes for control. Set in Rondo form, this piece tells an accurate depiction of a common day to day experience. We all in a way start off usually feeling fine like how the melody in the A Theme sounds, but then through the journey of the day meet some other conflict or competition that clashes with our calmness and causes an ensuing struggle. This piece was inspired by Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas, primarily Sonata in C Minor No. 8 “Pathetique”.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1084402 By Blaze Scheuerman. By Blaze Scheuerman. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Romantic Period. Score. 6 pages. Blaze Scheuerman #688577. Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1084402). The second movement of Blaze's Piano Sonata in E Major No. 1, following A Look Into The Past, A Moment In The Present was primarily inspired by Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in F Minor No. 1 and Piano Sonata in C Minor No. 8 “Pathetique”. I gave it its name because I find it to be a very relaxing and dawdling piece. It reminds me of someone just lounging around and enjoying nothing but taking in the moment. The syncopated melody gives off the feeling that his thoughts are also jumbled together. He is not actively trying to achieve anything, but instead just letting anything come to him. It is supposed to contrast the first movement by being simpler and more relaxing (where the first is dominating and complex). I especially wanted a much more lyrical and monophonic (single voiced) piece to contrast with the polyphony (many voiced) and layers of the first.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1047338 By Blaze Scheuerman. By Blaze Scheuerman. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 10 pages. Blaze Scheuerman #651896. Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1047338). The Doomsday Clock is a piece that primarily shows anxiety and being overwhelmed. I composed this piece my senior year of high school. At the time I could feel the impending deadline of college piano auditions approaching, and this coupled with a hand injury caused me to be very stressed out and feel that I was unable to put in the time needed to practice and prepare. I chose the name “Doomsday Clock” as I felt that the event that was slowly creeping closer was actually going to be the destruction of my dreams. The intro starts up bleak as the main character feels lost and afraid. The baseline hints at something to come that keeps inching closer and closer. Then at measure 8 it hits him, the thing to come is inevitable and can’t be stopped. He tries to reason with it, but it does not budge. This forces him to go into a mad scuffle in order to keep up and be ahead, as seen in measure 13. What then proceeds is a series of highs and lows, such as in measure 24 where the main character is terrified of what is to come and in measure 33 where he begins to believe he can do it. The piece then modulates to C major, where the main character feels that he is ahead and going to be successful. But every time he states a confident line, it seems to deteriorate or break down. Eventually he leads back into the mad scuffle and reaches his lowest point in measure 74. Here he feels lost and is about to give up when something encourages him to keep on going. It manifests a childlike voice reminding him of why he started this journey in the first place, and it convinces him to not give up and instead keep on going (seen in the Eb major section in the style of the intro). He eventually reaches the end and makes it, almost collapsing at the finish.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1047345 By Blaze Scheuerman. By Blaze Scheuerman. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 9 pages. Blaze Scheuerman #651903. Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1047345). Voices In My Head is meant to convey a feeling of being overwhelmed. I got the idea for the piece after having composed for 2 hours and finding my stomach screaming from hunger, my throat screaming from thirst, my head screaming from fatigue, and my mind screaming from unsatisfied work. It was a very overwhelming feeling at once and caused me to come up with the idea for the piece and subject for the fugue. The prelude is supposed to be setting up the fugue, as it depicts multiple voices getting along but just barely. The C major section shows the initial clarity from satisfying one of their needs, but it quickly returns to a struggle. The fugue slowly and slowly gets more intense, leading up until the end when the main character becomes completely overwhelmed.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1077267 By Blaze Scheuerman. By Blaze Scheuerman. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period,Traditional. Score. 14 pages. Blaze Scheuerman #681437. Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1077267). This first movement was primarily inspired by Beethoven’s first five piano sonatas. In an effort to better myself as a composer, I decided to compose a piece following the rules of a certain form instead of a more free form or fantasy-like piece. I chose a Sonata as it both had a rule set I felt like I could follow and was a big enough project to satisfy my ambition. After studying the scores of Beethoven’s first five piano sonatas to gain an understanding of how they work, I have put together my own original piano sonata. It consists of some admiration of the past in the first theme, energy and determination to do something about it in the second theme, and some interesting experimentation and action in the development.
