An arrangement for solo piano of East of the Sun (and West of the Moon) mostly in a medium swing tempo. Performance duration is about 4 minutes. The song is presented using straight 8th notes in bars 1 to 32 followed by an extensive exploration using swinging 8th notes from bars 33 to 130. The tempo slows a little for bars 131 to 145 where straight 8th notes are again used. Much use of syncopation and modern jazz chord voicings is used throughout.

Thanks, John.  East of the Sun (and West of the Moon) is a popular song written by Brooks Bowman, an undergraduate member of Princeton University's Class of 1936, for the 1934 production of the Princeton Triangle Club's production of Stags at Bay. The standard is also sung by the Princeton Nassoons, Princeton University's oldest a cappella group. Tommy Dorsey recorded it in 1940 with vocals by Frank Sinatra, a trumpet solo by Bunny Berigan, and backup slang lyrics.
