This solo piano arrangement of Climax by Usher is ideal for upper-intermediate and advanced players who like R&B music, and who are looking to augment their classical, jazz, and Broadway repertoire.

The arrangement emulates the recording closely, which aids listeners in recognizability, but it does *not* follow the form or length of the recording strictly; the introduction and the ending have been abbreviated.  Rehearsal numbers correspond with song sections. The performance time is approximately 2:49.

 It is advised that players listen to the recording of the song while reading the score in order to get an overall feel for how it translates.

The name Nocturne (meaning of the night) was originally an ensemble piece in the 18th century in several movements used for for evening parties. Later In the 19thc it's one movement form, it was adopted by John Field and later popularised by Chopin. It generally has a tranquil lyrical melody and is very romantic and expressive.

I have tried to keep these later elements in this Nocturne. It is written in the key of C minor it has a very gentle opening with harmonies evolving around a cycle of 5th's in places. The piece has three definite sections- the lyrical melody to begin with, a middle section building to a climax before a return to the 1st section. This is followed by a transitional contrasting section (poco piu mosso) wandering through a few keys to settle on an inner pedal tonic note chime. Gentle chords restore the opening once more- this opening theme climaxes towards the end and a gentle reflection of the opening bars concludes the piece.

It is 4 mins 20 in length.

Kinderszenen, Op. 15: 1. Von fremden Ländern und Menschen (Of Foreign Lands and Peoples) is a romantic piano piece composed by Robert Schumann in 1838. This piece is a part of Schumann's Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood) suite. It explores themes of the unfamiliar and a child's curiosity of the world.   Von fremden Ländern und Menschen utilizes a lyrical ABA form set in an ABA ternary meter. The opening melody is soft, nostalgic, and reflective representing the innocence of childhood. The second section begins with a marching-like motif that gradually builds intensity as it progresses, creating feelings of awe and wonder as the music approaches the climax. The piece ends reflecting on the initial melody.   Kinderszenen, Op. 15: 1. Von fremden Ländern und Menschen is an emotionally evocative piece that allows the listener to enter the whimsical world of childhood. True to its name, the progression of building dynamics, complicated note values, and multiple key changes expertly bring the early advanced performer & attentive listener from dawn to the full blaze of the rising sun. Numerous scale passages help develop the feeling of seeing the sun's first rays. There are a few surprise hints of returning to the hush of early morning throughout. The piece concludes with driving left hand octaves contrasted with technically challenging right hand arpeggios, climaxing with both hands playing a full chord fanfare as the new day finally arrives!

Reminiscing is a solo piano piece to represent reflections and thoughts. It paints the story of love, and lost love, travels, friends, heartbreak, but also happiness and contentment. It is essentially a romantic style in nature, fused with film music harmonies. It is in ternary form with the opening sections in A minor and C major- expanding the material into B flat and D flat major in the middle. After a short link, the main them returns in a slightly heavier texture before climaxing this theme in D flat major. The piece ends with an ornamented version of the intro in B flat minor. I have put it at Advanced Intermediate although an intermediate player may be ok with it. but the youtube link has the full score for you to judge. From the first droplet of water to the eventual calm after the storm, Rainfall portrays exactly what its name suggests. An intriguing composition that is thrilling to play and demands the attention of the listener, it features a mesmerizing ostinato, grows with the introduction of a few simple musical ideas, and then steadily builds into fascinating rhythmic complexity. Unique to this piece is that while the same chords alternate from measure to measure (chords I and IV, specifically C and F), the music by no means stands still. Interrupted occasionally by an accented splash of chords, the ostinato often passes from one hand to the next, eventually losing its importance as various themes begin piling one on top of the other. Climaxing in a small-scale harmonic overload which indicates the final clap of thunder, the approx. 3-minute piece gradually decelerates to a relaxing close. A good playing tempo is in between M.M. = 74 and 80.
