Coronacoaster is a 2.5 minute solo piano composition composed in the summer of 2020 that musically portrays the ups and down during the Corona virus era. It was inspired by the following text that was circulated on a Facebook meme:

Coronacoaster noun: The ups and downs of a pandemic. One day you're loving your bubble, doing work outs, baking banana bread and going for long walks and the next you're crying, drinking gin for breakfast and missing people you don't even like.

I wrote this piece as a musical depiction of a virus constructing itself for an invasion, infecting the host, and then battling for dominance.

Written for solo piano, a musical depiction of the world's struggle with Covid 19, the deadly corona virus that has closed almost everything and taken the world's citizens away from their daily routines is told.  The piece begins with mysterious intrigue, much as the disease did as it began to sweep across the globe.  The music gets faster and agitated as more and more people find suffering amid the confusion.  There are breaks of calm  that give the listener a chance to breathe, and try to evaluate his or her life in dealing with the virus.  A prayerful hymn-like tune drawing upon rhythms from earlier places in the music brings the piece to its conclusion.  .

A set of variations on the traditional hymn tune written for use as a Processional, Anthem or Recessional. Previously performed at Saint George's Episcopal Church, Austin, TX, Christ Church, Coronado, CA and the Chapel at Naval Base Coronado, CA. It is somewhat in the spirit of the Ives Variations on America with both serious and light-hearted movements.
