Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862554 Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 4 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2034471. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862554). A major third and a tritone together create a quintessentially modern-sounding cluster. And so, this unit is used in its unadulterated state throughout. The rhythm is divided into groups of three, deliberately set within a 4/4 time signature, so as to create an effect of hemiola and of syncopation that would not be evident were it set in a triple meter. The clusters play as solid blocks, then divide into two parts, then three. Then the note-values are made twice as small, and the music really takes off ! This is by FAR the most typically modern of all the etudes in the set, as far as rhythmic complexity, percussiveness, and a lack of traditional melody. Running time is just over 2 mins. MBB.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1029561 Composed by Peter Daniel Klein. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 13 pages. Peter Daniel Klein #6401141. Published by Peter Daniel Klein (A0.1029561). This musical piece is comprised of two twelve-tone rows, atonal music based on synthetic scales unique to each composition, which are based on medieval plainsong chants whose systemization was begun by Pope Gregory I during the sixth century AD.  A simple explanation of this composition is that it is the world's oldest notated music combined with modern 20th-century music theory that eschews traditional melody and harmony for synthetic scales unique to each composition. The music is complex and dissonant, although the conversion of the two plainsong chants to twelve-tone rows retains a semblance of a tonal center at given points throughout. Still, the entire piece of music is that same melody utilized harmonically: just forward, backward, upside-down, backward and upside-down, rhythmically altered, transposed, displaced up or down, or split into smaller cells and then reprocessed in the same way mentioned above. I have also borrowed the Baroque Period techniques of the two-part invention and four-voice fugue combined with serial musical techniques that may offend the average listener's traditional musical sensibilities but make logical structural sense. I used the Dies Irae (The Day of Wrath) and Tuba Mirum (The Last Trumpet Call). The authorship of the chants has been attributed to many saints from Gregory to Thomas of Celano but probably evolved from early Jewish psalmody carried forward by the earliest Jewish converts to Christianity, which further developed into trochaic metered poetry by successive monks. It was set to memorized plainsong heralding back, in part, to Jewish worship. The text of the Dies Irae is very similar to Zephaniah 1:16. The last trumpet call that raises the dead in Christ is comparable to the Apostle Paul's account written in his first epistle to the Corinthians Chapter 15 and first epistle to the Thessalonians Chapter 4. The two epistles may, or may not, be related to the Final of the Seven Trumpets bringing God's Judgement on the earth spoken of in Revelation 11. The relationship of the trumpet mentioned in the epistles to those written about in Revelation divides theologians, but I digress into unrelated matters. Despite the modern theory, the music is still movingly visceral because of its conceptually descriptive nature. It is full of aural symbolism following the Dies Irae and the Tuba Mirum, making it a type of program music ala Hector Berlioz of the Romantic Period. The music is, therefore, genuinely eclectic because it has blended qualities of several musical periods. The final section of the video explains the symbolism. The music difficulty is virtuosic, extremely taxing to play.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1143547 By Frederic Chopin. By Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Frederic Chopin. Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 3 pages. Unimusic Academy (Academia Unimusica) #743864. Published by Unimusic Academy (Academia Unimusica) (A0.1143547). Chopin composed his best-known Nocturne in Eâ™ major, Op. 9, No. 2 when he was around twenty years old. This well-known nocturne is in rounded binary form (A, A, B, A, B, A) with coda, C. It is 34 measures long and written in 12 8 meter, having a similar structure to a waltz. The A and B sections become increasingly ornamented with each recurrence. The penultimate bar utilizes considerable rhythmic freedom, indicated by the instruction, senza tempo (without tempo). The nocturne opens with a legato melody, mostly played piano (quietly), containing graceful upward leaps which becomes increasingly wide as the line unfolds. This melody is heard again three times during the piece. With each repetition, it is varied by ever more elaborate decorative tones and trills. The nocturne also includes a subordinate melody, which is played with rubato. A sonorous foundation for the melodic line is provided by the widely spaced notes in the accompaniment, connected by the damper pedal. The waltz-like accompaniment gently emphasizes the 12 8 meter, 12 beats to the measure subdivided into four groups of 3 beats each.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596578 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 13 pages. Juan Maria Solare #4892571. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596578). Meraki: five piano pieces Simple but not superficial music. Five Neo-classical, post-Romantic piano pieces with unconventional titles.  Listen to them here: https://juanmariasolare.bandcamp.com/album/meraki  Meraki, in recording for felted piano, will be released in 2020 (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) through the label Double J Music. (felted piano sounds are produced by putting a piece of felt or cloth between the strings and the hammers.)   Meraki (Greek) is when you put your soul into something you are doing. Meraki is a word that modern Greeks often use to describe what happens when you leave a piece of yourself (your soul, creativity, or love) in your work. When you love doing something, anything, so much that you put something of yourself into it.  Meraki means to do something with passion, with absolute devotion, with undivided attention. Meraki is derived from the Turkish Merak (Labor of love, to do something with pleasure). Usually applied to tasks, usually, creative or artistic tasks, but can be applied to any task at all. Lumokinesis (4:00). Lumokinesis is the ability to manipulate and control the element light at will. Kenopsia (4:00). Kenopsia is the eerie atmosphere of a place usually full of peple, but now abandoned and calm. Ataraxia (4:30). Tranquility, imperturbability, absence of wishes or fears. Petricor (3:30). Petrichor is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. Exulansis (3:45). The tendency to stop talking of one's experiences because people cannot reate to them.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1134936 By Juan María Solare. By Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 8 pages. Juan Maria Solare #652301. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.1134936). Juan María Solare: Bubbles, Floating Bubbles - a polyrhythmic etude Concert etude composed in Bremen (2-3 July) and Worpswede (5 July 2010). Duration: 4:30 (if the repetition -from bar 28 to the end- is being played; if not, 3 minutes). Bublles, Floating Bubbles - by Juan María Solare Bubbles, Floating Bubbles on Youtube: Bubbles, Floating Bubbles on Spotify: This composition is a concert etude, since it can be performed at a recital (and not only used to practice). The degree of virtuosity is relatively low, but nevertheless not suitable for absolute beginners. Technically, the main characteristic of this piece is the polyrhythm 2 against 3: the melody subdivides the quarter in 2, and the accompaniment plays triplets. In this sense, an answer to Carl Czerny's polyrhythmic studie in E major. Please use abundant pedal when playing this piece. The idea is to generate a cloud of sound, not a machinal pattern. The sound character of this piece should be closer to Debussy than to Scarlatti. The initial indication scorrevole (fleeting) should orientate the character and the sound quality, the touch. Fermatas and caesuras should add time to the bar, like breathing in. In bar 8 (end) the silence is only in he left hand: the note of the right hand shouldn't be interrupted. This is actually clear if one read the rhythms carefully, but my experience tells me that it is prudent to underline this particular point. In bar 16 (and similar places), left hand: it is the central melody what should be in foreground, not the bass. Imagine that the melody is played by a cello or viola, and the bass by a double bass (or better: a bassoon). Try to achieve a different timbre and to separate therefore both layers. The title refers to this poem: Sum venti ingenium breve Flos sum, scilicet, aeris …… Sum blandum, petulans, vagum, Pulchrum, purpureum, et decens, Comptum, floridulum, et recens. Richard Crashaw -Jacobean English poet- (1613-1649), Bulla (Bubble) I am the brief nature of the wind To be sure, I am the flower of air ...... I am charming, wanton, inconstant, Beautiful, gleaming, and noble, Ornate, somewhat blooming, and fresh.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1486801 By In Son Zeng. By In Son Zeng. Arranged by In Son Zeng. 20th Century,Instructional,Jazz. Score. 7 pages. In Son Zeng #1063868. Published by In Son Zeng (A0.1486801). Introduction of Op.3 No.10-12 by In Son Zeng:Op.3 No.1-12 is composed by In Son Zeng (from Macau) to cater to a variety of musical tastes and skill levels, offering a diverse range of experiences for the player.Op. 3 No. 10 How Beautiful the CountrysideThe tenth song in Op.3 uses an old country musical style. It depicts a gently flowing river, which does not create large ripples throughout the day, yet the surroundings are so beautiful that one cannot help but be captivated! The entire piece extensively designs two voice parts at the higher range. The upper voice often features non-legato triplets, while the left-hand employs a fixed rhythm common in country music, enhancing the picturesque scenery that the music evokes.Op. 3 No. 11 Charming New OrleansThe eleventh song is composed in a New Orleans jazz style that traces back to the origin of Jazz music! Being one of the ancestors of jazz, it poetically and lyrically reflects a refined lifestyle. This music is a great companion to the beauty of nature: listening to the relaxed, old-style jazz while strolling through a New Orleans park is truly invigorating! The entire piece is written in A-flat major and is divided into two short sections, both in an AA format (where the two sections are similar but differ in chord density). When practicing, it is important to prepare for an increase in intensity and atmosphere one measure before transitioning into the second section.Op. 3 No. 12 Summer SunThe twelfth song, in terms of jazz style, is a lively Boogie Woogie piece. Playing this music conjures images of people in bikinis dancing rhythmically on the beaches of Macedonia, surrounded by enthusiastic beach-loving tourists. The bustling crowd adds vibrant color to the hot summer beach. The entire piece is written in E-flat major and is also divided into two short sections in an AA format. During practice, there is a breathe and relax moment one measure before transitioning to the second section. It is important to play with a sense of relaxation at that point, followed by an augmented chord leading into the next section.
