My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music and, most importantly, that it also makes pianistic sense. Each of my arrangements is made for a specific student, so the results will vary in terms of playing level. Most decisions are based on their current skills and abilities, or where I would like for them to be when they complete the piece. This arrangement was made for a late beginner working in Level 1-2 of the Alfred's Masterwork Classics series. This is also a great exercise for counting tied eighth notes. There are also blocked and broken fifths--one of my favorite patterns to give students because I insist on forearm rotations rather than finger-work, which usually takes a while to develop properly.
