A v e M a r i a for Piano Solo Ellens dritter Gesang, D. 839, Op. 52, No. 6, 1825 in English: Ellen's Third Song was composed by Franz Schubert in 1825 as part of his Op. 52 It is one of Schubert's most popular works. Beyond the song as originally composed by Schubert, it is often performed and recorded by many singers under the title Ave Maria (the Latin name of the prayer Hail Mary, and also the opening words and refrain of Ellen's song, a song which is itself a prayer to the Virgin Mary).

Composed by Fredrik Schwenk. Contemporary. Score. 33 pages. Fredrik Schwenk #6303801. Published by Fredrik Schwenk (A0.1022029).

The present cycle of six bagatelles was created on the occasion of the final examination Master Piano by Hector Docx, who studied in my composition class at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater from 2017 to 2020. He had rehearsed Ludwig van Beethoven's Bagatelles, Op. 126, for the occasion and consulted composers to write new bagatelles to be performed along with Beethoven's last piano work. This is how the later fourth Bagatelle first came into being, which takes up the tempo as well as an essential element of Beethoven's material, and from this follows an approach that is consistent in form and content. After the successful premiere, the idea arose to build a six-part cycle from it, which is oriented to Beethoven's material throughout. The cycle can be performed either together and in alternation with or independently and without Beethoven's Bagatelles, whereby a performance of the third Bagatelle without Beethoven makes little sense. The premiere of all the Bagatelles in conjunction with Beethoven's Bagatelles took place on September 26, 2020 at the Tonali Hall in Hamburg. Hector Docx played.

By Jose Valladares. By Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Jose Valladares. 19th Century. Score. 9 pages. Circlesquare Music #952818. Published by Circlesquare Music (A0.1368471).

The Sonatina in F Major, Anh. 5, No. 2 is often attributed to Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the most celebrated composers in Western music history. However, it's important to note that the authenticity of this piece as a work by Beethoven has been questioned by musicologists. The Anh. in the title stands for Anhang, which means appendix in German and refers to a cataloguing system used for works that are either of doubtful authenticity or definitively known not to be composed by Beethoven. Despite this, the piece remains popular among students and teachers for its pedagogical value.

Assuming the piece is studied as part of Beethoven's attributed works, here are some key aspects you might expect from the Sonatina in F Major, Anh. 5, No. 2:

Sonatina Form: The sonatina is a simplified version of the sonata, generally shorter and less complex, making it suitable for early intermediate students. It usually consists of two or three movements, with the first often following a sonata-allegro structure but in a more condensed form.
Key of F Major: The key of F Major tends to have a bright and cheerful character. In a sonatina, this key would lend the piece an uplifting and pleasant quality, making it enjoyable for both performers and listeners.
Classical Style Characteristics: Even though the authenticity is in question, pieces attributed to Beethoven typically showcase characteristics of the Classical period, such as clarity in structure, balanced phrasing, and harmonic exploration. The Sonatina in F Major would likely reflect these elements.
Technical and Musical Aspects: Sonatinas provide an excellent opportunity for students to develop fundamental skills such as phrasing, articulation, and dynamic contrast. This particular sonatina in F Major would probably include lyrical melodies, clear textures, and typical Classical period accompaniment patterns.
Pedagogical Value: Given its approachable difficulty level, the Sonatina in F Major, Anh. 5, No. 2 serves as an excellent teaching piece for introducing young or early intermediate students to the sonata form and Classical style playing.
