Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596577). Trayectoria is the Spanish word for trajectory in the double sense of the flight path of a projectile or planet, or a person's life achievements. This 4-minute piece is a contemporary milonga (a musical genre strongly related to the tango). However, it has a harmonic peculiarity: the whole piece is based on a single chord (F sharp minor) from the beginning to the end. When the harmonic components are frozen, the melodic and rhythmical ones come easier to foreground. Connoisseurs will recognize some allusions to Sergei Prokofiev, Thelonious Monk, Alexander Scriabin & Co. Some advice for the performance: pay particular attention to the articulation. Generally speaking, articulation is disregarded as a secondary parameter, however it is as important as a correct diction and a clear pronunciation in theater or in movies. And particularly in Trayectoria ... some pieces can easily survive with an approximate articulation. This one wouldn't.
