My mind returned to the good old days when I was free to daydream and do whatever it was that I wanted to do. When I was younger I had wanted to grow up to be a bird, a frog, an ant or a baby bee, but I had grown up to be a man, and now I had a wife and a baby son. Things were not the way I had imagined they would be. Now I had to go to work every day to pay the bills, and I didn't even like my job. It felt like I was bound in chains that were unbreakable. There seemed to be no way out, but there was a way out. All I had to do was accept that life had changed, that I had changed, and I needed to make the best of it. After making that decision life got better and better. I realized that the true plan for life was to create our own homes and families, and that sooner or later we will all return to our heavenly home. I love being home, and at the homes of my siblings, friends, and parents. Home is not really a physical place so much as it is where we are surrounded by people who love us. For me, being home is being where I am loved and accepted.

A place near Lake Superior where temperatures were often in the negatives, snowfall was aplenty, and the morning dew would freeze everything in a sheet of sheer ice. After moving to an area with more wind and less snowfall, and even less trees, forests, and lakes, I began to lament the winter that I had grown up with. Return Me Home to Frost Laden Trees is an homage to the snowstorms I would watch from warm inside the house, staring outside the front window and into the one lamp on our street, where the snow swirled around the forest behind it. This arrangement is specifically for Piano, pared down for more accessable play compared to its orchestral counterpart.

Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1149736). Cupid's Home is a piano solo arrangement of the 1898 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, which was originally a ballad for voice and piano. I have freely arranged this into a pulsing light jazz piece with an Intro, three sections, and a Coda; which each build in volume and rhythmic intensity. The Intro is straight from the Jacobs-Bond piece; it is the only part of the song that is. For section 1 I rhythmically augment (double the note values) of the melody and add a pulsing drone beat in the LH. In section 2 I double time the melody and syncopate it, then reharmonize it, and add harmonic movement to the still pulsing bass line. Section 3 adds syncopation and stride to the LH. The Coda is an extended riff and cadence.
