Composed by Ho Jie Rong. Contemporary,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Ho Jie Rong #5794125. Published by Ho Jie Rong (A0.1011298).

I am a Singaporean pianist and composer. I have studied the piano since 5 years old under Mr Joseph Toh and I graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a Diploma in Music in 2013, majoring in Music Composition under Malaysian composer Mr Chong Kee Yong and Singaporean composer Mrs Joyce Koh Bee Tuan.

About Sky I & II

This set of short pieces is composed in 2013.

Sky I is a piece of chance music. This piece is composed using the I-Ching, which is one of the compositional tools by the famous US composer, John Cage. I chose a total of 37 out of the 64 notes for this piece, of which they are deduced from the hexagram in the I-Ching.

Sky II is a piece derived from Sky I, hence one can say Sky I is the fundamental of Sky II. The note values of Sky II are the opposite of Sky I. This means that a short note value in Sky I is actually represented in Sky II as a longer note value. the range of the notes in Sky II are translated accordingly to Sky I.

Sky I & II is dedicated to my piano teacher and uncle, Mr Joseph Toh.

Composed by Al (dp) Dubin, Andrea Martin, Gregory Darryl Smith, and Harry Warren. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 6 pages. Timothy Stapay #1037052. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1458082).

I Only Have Eyes For You is a romantic love song by composer Harry Warren and lyricist Al Dubins; here arranged for piano solo and as a tribute to my favorite actress, Bette Davis.  Who can ever forget those fabulous eyes.

A recording of the song by Art Garfunkel was a number-one hit on the UK Singles Chart in October 1975 for two weeks.  In the US, the song reached number 18 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Lyrics:

My love must be a kind of blind love
I can't see anyone but you
And dear, I wonder if you find love
An optical illusion, too?

Are the stars out tonight?
I don't know if it's cloudy or bright
'Cause I only have eyes for you, dear
The moon may be high
But I can't see a thing in the sky
'Cause I only have eyes for you

I don't know if we're in a garden
Or on a crowded avenue
You are here, so am I
Maybe millions of people go by
But they all disappear from view
And I only have eyes for you.

This song is you got to know the holy bible well to understand this so i will explain the dove in Christianity represents the holy spirit it is also how they believed in the old days to communicate with people like a post office of doves doves where known as pigeons in those days if you know your history the 1st post office was done using pigeons they put a message on it;s foot and let it go it will always return home so they will have a whole post office like that transporting pigeons to places they will then let them go with a message on there feet thus it would fly home so when JESUS CHRIST was baptize it writes the holy spirit came upon him in the form of a dove as GOD SPOKE OUT OF HEAVEN saying this is my beloved son listen to him thus everyone herd that so they only new how to explain it that the communication came to JESUS CHRIST communicating with GOD as they all herd it they told this expressing it how they understood it as the holy spirit came upon JESUS CHRIST as a dove thus what i am singing is very much that at the same time i am communicating with GOD just as the song says OK that is its meaning that i am communicating with GOD as sung

By Rachel Platten. By Dave Bassett and Rachel Platten. Arranged by Elena Fortin. Pop. Score. 5 pages. Elena Fortin #6063897. Published by Elena Fortin (A0.744629).

Every year, I post arrangements and videos of songs that I consider to be important either in the way they touch listeners, in how they are used, or iif they have stood the test of time. This arrangement is my first one for the 2020-2021 school year.

And what a year it has been! With the global pandemic, many are struggling with physical illness or health challenges, personal trial, loss, or life's difficulties. Like many others, in these challenging times, I turn to music.

...like a small boat...sending big waves into motion Fight Song, written by Rachel Platten and Davve Bassett, has become an anthem of faith and belief for any person that is going through a challenge and brings comfort to many. The song was recorded in 2014 and won iHeartRadio's Music Award for Best Lyrics.

When I pick songs to arrange, they are often ones that play over and over in my brain. I've been working on this one for several weeks. My arrangement is for the early advanced player. The arrangement starts quite simply but builds and builds into powerful repetitions of the chorus with arpeggios in the left hand and in the right hand and lots of fun crashing chords. It makes use of the powerfull bass end of the piano too!

I hope that you enjoy it! If you like this sheet music please check out my other arrangements at SheetMusicPlus. Here is the link to my publisher page: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/elena-fortin/10717

Composed by Nick Norton. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Score. 11 pages. Bathysphere Music #761167. Published by Bathysphere Music (A0.1160855).

The four calm interludes (should that be capitalized?) are Four One, On Nothing, About Sixths, and On Sol. They are intended as simple, meditative pieces, perhaps good for student pianists to attempt.

In spring of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, I suffered a massive manic episode followed by a debilitating depression that lasted over a year. During this time I found my relationship with music fraught—I could not compose, and could barely even listen to music for enjoyment, relaxation, or whatever other reasons people listen to music. It was terrifying, thinking my life’s work was over.
The shift to being unable to compose or listen, however, was a gradual, like the shift from mania to depression. I found my listening habits following what seemed like a massive ritardando, as they moved away from the upbeat music I was used to toward more and more ambient, very slow music. Hiroshi Yoshimura’s album Music For Nine Postcards was on repeat for a long while before the total break. Its calm repetitions must have influenced what I was doing, because I sometimes found myself at the piano playing the same note or chord over and over again, just listening to the details in the resonance. Out of this came the first of these four pieces, On Nothing.

Eight months later I found myself doing it again, the result of which is Four One. Another eight months went by before About Sixths, and then, as my recovery became more and more apparent, only two months passed until On Sol. I am grateful to say I am now composing every day again, though my music has, without conscious intention, taken on a far more introspective feel than ever before.

I have not given the pieces numbers, because I don’t mind if they are played in a different order, alone, or—as the title suggests—as interludes between other pieces. I do like the printed order though.

By Sharon Wilson. By Traditional. Arranged by Sharon Wilson and Sharon Wilson Music. Folk,Praise & Worship,Romantic Period,Sacred,Spiritual. Score. 2 pages. Sharon Wilson #6142483. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565789).

Designed for those times when a short, musical interlude is needed, here is a 2-page, LARGE PRINT piano solo arrangement of the classic hymn On Jordan's Stormy Banks. In some hymnals, this song is titled I Am Bound for the Promised Land. This upbeat and cheerful arrangement will bring smiles to each listener's face as they are reminded of the joy and hope of Canaan's fair and happy land.

This arrangement is one of the 7 songs in the collection
Hymns of Heaven. Each song in this collection was chosen because the lyrics talk about the joys of heaven.

Lyrics by Samuel Stennett:
Verse 1:
On Jordan's stormy banks I stand,
And cast a wishful eye
To Canaan's fair and happy land,
Where my possessions lie.

Chorus:
I am bound for the promised land,
I am bound for the promised land;
Oh, who will come and go with me?
I am bound for the promised land.

Verse 2:
O'er all those wide extended plains
Shines one eternal day;
There, Christ, the Son forever reigns,
And scatters night away.

Verse 3:
When I shall reach that happy place,
And be forever blest?
When shall I see my Father's face,
And in His kingdom rest?

By The Platters. By Jerome Kern and Otto Harbach. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 8 pages. Timothy Stapay #821814. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1225761).

Smoke Gets In Your Eyes is arranged as played by piano artist, Liberace.
This version is from the rare early album Liberace At Home.

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes is a show tune written by American composer Jerome Kern and lyricist Otto Harbach for the 1933 musical Roberta. The song was sung in the Broadway show by Tamara Drasin. Its first recorded performance was by Gertrude Niesen, who recorded the song with orchestral direction from Ray Sinatra, Frank Sinatra's second cousin,[1] on October 13, 1933.

On October 30, 1946, Nat King Cole recorded the song in his trio with Oscar Moore on guitar and Johnny Miller on double bass, during a live broadcast from New York City.[10] Cole performed it on television in 1957 for The Nat King Cole Show.

Władziu Valentino Liberace (May 16, 1919 – February 4, 1987) was an American pianist, singer, and actor.  A child prodigy born in Wisconsin to parents of Italian and Polish origin, he enjoyed a career spanning four decades of concerts, recordings, television, motion pictures, and endorsements. At the height of his fame from the 1950s to 1970s, he was the highest-paid entertainer in the world!

Lyrics below:

They asked me how I knew
My true love was true
I of course replied
Something here inside cannot be denied
They said someday you'll find all who love are blind
When your heart's on fire,
You must realize, smoke gets in your eyes

So I chaffed them and I gaily laughed
To think they could doubt my love
Yet today my love has flown away,
I am without my love (without my love)

Now laughing friends deride
Tears I cannot hide
So I smile and say
When a lovely flame dies, smoke gets in your eyes

(Smoke gets in your eyes, smoke gets in your eyes)

Smoke gets in your eyes

Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Concert,Standards. Score. 12 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2343097. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533319).

This charming piano solo was first performed by its dedicatee, Jacques Leguerney’s good friend and muse Thérèse Cahen (1897-1944), in the Salle Debussy-Pleyel. They met around 1925. Cahen was the first person outside of his family to encourage his musical aspirations. For years, they met every Saturday to read through and discuss his music. She not only helped him with piano and harmony, but also performed his early chamber works, recruiting from her entourage to help him find high level interpreters for his music. Other early Leguerney works that she premiered included the Trio pour violon, violoncello et piano; the Sonatine pour flûte et piano; and two vocal chamber works presented by the Société Musicale Indépendente (S. M. I.), Epitaphe guerrière and Clair de lune for voice, flute and piano. Their friendship lasted until Cahen was deported from Paris on July 31, 1944, only a few weeks prior to the Liberation of Paris. Working with the Center of the Union Générale des Israélites de France in Saint-Mandé (a Parisian suburb), Thérèse Cahen had dedicated herself to the care of children of deported French parents. She left Paris with these children in the Convoy 77, and was taken to the gas chamber of Auschwitz. She left a letter for him, along with her grand piano, which remained in his apartment until his death.

My dear Jacques,

It is impossible to write on this little page how much I have appreciated your kindness toward me for years and years, and how much happiness this has given me: there have been thousands of Saturdays, and I thought of them every day of the week. Probably you didn’t realize the influence you have had on me: it seems that my whole personality, my way of thinking and feeling has been transformed by you; it is a very deep imprint. If I am taken and in consequence you read this letter, tell yourself that I will continue to count the Saturdays in order to have an idea of the number of songs composed during my absence and that I will be delighted to hear them when I return. If I don’t return, I definitely want you to keep my piano but I don’t think it will happen and I say that I will see you soon.

Very tenderly,

Thérèse

PS Speaking of tenderness, I think with emotion about the little passage concerning tenderness in your latest song.
