McGranahan's timeless melody takes new life with the light energy and metric restyling of Arnett's arrangement. About 3:30 in duration, the piece is appropriate for the late-intermediate piano student. Be prepared for some challenging rhythms, including frequent offbeats in the right hand and a 4 over 3 hemiola in the opening melody - however, this can be modified to a 3+3+2 grouping if more comfortable.

My Redeemer is a well-known gospel hymn first published in 1877. It is also known by the first line of lyrics, I will sing of my Redeemer. The tune by James McGranahan is interesting, because its rhythm is 9/8 for the verse and 12/8 for the chorus providing a lyrical, waltz-like feel to its touching words. This arrangement is an INTERMEDIATE PIANO SOLO in the keys of E flat and A flat major that also includes an interlude of Take the Name of Jesus With you composed by W. H. Doane.
