L'amour est bleu (Love Is Blue) was composed by André Popp, lyrics  by Pierre Cour,. Bryan Blackburn later wrote English-language lyrics for it. First performed in French by Greek singer Vicky Leandros (Vicky) in the Eurovision Song Contest 1967, recorded by many other musicians, most notably French orchestra leader Paul Mauriat, whose familiar instrumental version (recorded in late 1967) became the only number-one hit by a French lead artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 in America. If You Leave Me Now is the title of a hit ballad by the American rock group Chicago, from their album Chicago X. It was written and sung by bass player Peter Cetera and released as a single on July 31, 1976. It is also the title of a Chicago compilation album released by Columbia Records (Columbia 38590) in 1983.

The single topped the US charts on October 23, 1976, and stayed there for two weeks, making it the first number one hit for the group as well as hitting number one on the Easy Listening charts.[4] If You Leave Me Now was also Chicago's biggest hit internationally, topping the charts in other countries such as the UK, Australia, Ireland, Canada, and Netherlands. In the UK it maintained the number one position for three weeks.[5] It was one of only five non-disco songs to make it to number one in the US in a nine-month period of 1976.[6]According to writer Zachary Houle of PopMatters, The song was so pervasive on radio upon its release that, reportedly, those tuning in inNew York could hear the song playing on four different stations, each with varying formats, simultaneously.[7]

The song won Grammy Awards for Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) (strings) for arranger Jimmie Haskell[8] and producerJames William Guercio[9] and Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus,[10] the first Grammy Award won by the group.[11] It also received a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year.[12] In addition, by August 1978 it had sold 1.4 million copies in the United States alone.[13] It has been certified gold and platinum by the RIAA.[14]

In 2010 Chicago teamed with the American Cancer Society and offered the opportunity to bid on the chance to sing their hit, If You Leave Me Now with them on stage live at their concerts, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society to fight breast cancer.[15] The fund raising effort has continued in succeeding years.

Louis Landon is a composer and Steinway artist. Formerly of New York and currently living in Sedona, Arizona, Louis has dedicated his life to music. His career has taken him around the world playing a variety of styles with some of the most recognized names in the entertainment industry. He toured nationally and internationally, playing classical music for Mikhail Baryshnikov; jazz fusion with The John Payne Band; Latin music with Pucho and his Latin Soul Brothers; pop music with Rupert Pina Colada Song Holmes; and rock & roll with John Hall, opening for Little Feat.

Louis began playing the piano by ear at 4 years old and began lessons at 5. As a teenager, he played guitar and keyboard in bands and went on to study music at Stony Brook University, Boston Conservatory and Berklee College of Music.

For the past 32 years, through his production company, Landon Music Company, Louis has written and produced music for film, video, and commercials. He recorded his first original album, Love Songs & Jazz, in 1994 and has since released 41 Albums/CDs, on the LCI Record label. 34 of those albums/CDs are solo piano releases. His latest album, entitled It's a Good Life, was released on September 17, 2021. He has just finished up his third Christmas album which is due out in November, 2021. When I composed this piece, autumn had just arrived and all the leaves were swaying gently in the trees; a strong wind would only knock a few down. When this would happen, I followed each leave's trail as it made it's way to the ground. It was simple, but it was beautiful. As autumn continued to ravage the trees, more and more of their leaves would fall, until it seemed anywhere you looked, a leaf was falling. The imagery of that autumn inspired this piano solo. I like to imagine this simple piece is for a pair of leaves that drift down, dancing, to the ground.

Thanks, John.  I Can See Clearly Now is a song written and recorded by American singer-songwriter Johnny Nash.  It was the lead single from his album, I Can See Clearly Now (1972), and achieved success in the United States and the United Kingdom when it was released in 1972, reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box charts.  It also reached number one in Canada and South Africa.  After Nash wrote and composed the original version, he recorded it in London with members of the Fabulous Five Inc., and produced it himself.  The song's arrangements and style are both heavily laced with reggae influences, as Nash had earlier collaborated with Bob Marley and his approach drew strongly from Marley's reggae style.

Piece includes multiple distinct and unique themes and developments before concluding. 3 page arrangement is challenging but not overly so, and well worth the effort to learn. Deeply funky tune draws from inspiration in Hezekiah Walker, Chick Corea, Ricky Dillard, Charlie Parker, and Theolonious Monk. It was used for a piano and drum prelude in church, for a moment in time.

The expression clean soul conveys the idea of a soul that was dirty and got cleaned. I intentionally avoided the more usual pure soul.

 

This neo-classical piano prelude was composed in Bremen, Germany, on 19 April 2020.

 

The composer's recording of this piece is included in the compilation album Dream Chasers vol 2 of the label Yellow Rose Records (released on 6 November 2020). The track was placed at the top, since, in the words of the label's manager, Eldar Ibrahimovic, Your song was just too nice and very representative of our idea, so we had no choice but to put it up first.

Daniel Steenson's early-advanced piano setting of Savior, like a Shepherd, Lead Us is suitable as an offertory, a meditation before communion, wedding prelude music, or a recital piece. The main challenge lies in the 2nd stanza (mm. 18-32). I chose F-sharp major (G-flat major) for its resonant and harmonious qualities. You will find a wide-variety of color contrasts in this rich key as you travel between registers. Use the black and gray zones of the keys (hand position should be closer to fall board) for smoother, lateral movement (avoid zig-zagging in and out of the black keys). Also, listen for the hymn tune in the alto line (m. 18). Create bell effects in mm. 26-32 (LH crossings are optional) using succinct and gentle finger-tip releases. Catch each harmonic bass-note change with a clean pedal. Double-check your note accuracy in m. 43, and play the C double-sharps! (it helps to hear this measure as a D major 7th chord in first inversion).  Enjoy this transcription of Bradbury's ageless hymn - still cherished by young and old alike!
