As a child, she was always mature beyond her years, demonstrating the responsibility, dependability, and drive to succeed more commonly associated with an oldest child. And yet, as a teenager her bedroom featured a loft bed with a slide, a giant smiley-face mural on the wall, and an assortment of Care Bears and Sesame Street characters. My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music and, most importantly, that it also makes pianistic sense. Each of my arrangements is made for a specific student, so the results will vary in terms of playing level. Most decisions are based on their current skills and abilities, or where I would like for them to be when they complete the piece. This arrangement was made for a late beginner studying in Level 1 of the Keith Snell books, Federation class Primary 4. This is not as easy as it looks, especially with the lilting sixteenths. I had my student play these evenly instead and it still sounded incredible. Try to bring out the emphasized notes in the bass clef.Pedaling is straightforward and fingering suggestions are included.

Difficulty: Intermediate (Grade 3)Appropriate for schools and students. ‘Charles McCreerys beautifully melodic, intricately textured compositions are infused with classical, romantic and folk idioms.’ - Samantha Gillogly, violinist   Charles McCreery was educated at Eton and New College, Oxford. While at Eton he won the Rowe Cup for junior pianists, and in his final year performed Weber's Konzertstück with a chamber orchestra. As an undergraduate he studied piano with Hilda Bor, and won a piano class, adjudicated by Herbert Howells, at the Willesden Music Festival. From 1988 to 1991 he held a Perrott Warrick Studentship from Trinity College, Cambridge, and he has a doctorate from Oxford University. From 1996 to 2000 he was a College Lecturer at Magdalen College, Oxford.
