Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.507112 By Nicolas Horvath. By HĂ©lĂšnede Monteroult. Arranged by Paul Wehage (editor). Classical,Contest,Festival. Score. 22 pages. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.507112). HĂ©lĂšne de Montgeroult was born into an aristocratic family in Lyon and studied piano with Nicolas Joseph HĂŒllmandel and Jan Ladislav Dussek. She married the Marquis de Montgeroult who died as an Austrian prisoner in 1793. Reportedly it was respect for her compositions that allowed her to survive the French Reign of Terror. A set of improvisations on La Marseillaise, performed for the Committee of Public Safety, earned her her freedom after she was imprisoned in the Revolution due to her aristocratic background. After her husband's death, Montgeroult took a position at the new Paris Conservatoire in 1795, the first female professor ever to be appointed there and taught for two years. She is considered to be an important bridge between the Classicaland Romantic styles. She died in 1836 in Florence, Italy. Recorded for Grand Piano by Nicolas Horvath.

Instrumental Duet Harpsichord,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534712 Composed by Anne-Louise Brillon de Jouy. Classical,Concert,Folk,Holiday,Patriotic,Standards. Score and parts. 12 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #6359053. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534712). SONATA NO. 9 IN F MINOR I. Andante amoroso II. Allegro assai The composer and harpsichordist Anne-Louise Brillon de Jouy was born in Paris in 1744, and died in 1824 in Villers-sur-Mer in Normandie. She married Jacques Brillon de Jouy 22 years her senior, and had two daughters, CunĂ©gonde and Aldegonde, Anne-Louise Brillon de Jouy had a salon in Passy whose guests included the violinist Jean-Pierre Pagin and cellist and composer Luigi Boccherini. Benjamin Franklin was also a frequent vistor and Madame Brillon has an extensive correspondence with him, including the period after his stay in Paris during the American Revolution .Many of her compositions were purchased in 1957 by the American Philosophical Society of Philadelphia, in honor of this friendship. In 2021, French Pianist Nicolas Horvath recorded a landmark CD for Grand Piano (GP872-73) of Brillon’s keyboard noatas with extensive notes by Aliette de Laleu, Deborah Hayes and Nicolas Horvath and Christine de Pas The keyboard sonatas published here are intended to document this reocrding. The twelve numbered sonatas, marked “TroisiĂšme Recueil de Sonates pour le pianoforte ou clavecin avec accompagnement d’un viiolon ad libitum”, are in the hand of a copyist and are contained in a bound volume labeled as her TroisiĂšme Recueil (‘Third Collection’) and dedicated to Mesdemoiselles Brillon. Evidently the composer at some point chose these 12 sonatas to be copied as a sampling of her work for her two daughters. The manuscript is in the collection of the American Philosopical Society in Philadelphia.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534653 Composed by Claude Debussy/Robert Orledge. 20th Century,Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 16 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #5726995. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534653). Recorded for Grand Piano (GP822) by Nicolas Horvath.IFĂȘtes galantes was actually planned as a hybrid opera-ballet to a libretto by Debussy’s friend Louis Laloy. For this, Laloy arranged selected poetry by Paul Verlaine into three tableaux, replacing an earlier (unstarted) Debussyan project with Charles Morice entitled Crimen amoris. During his last productive summer of 1915, Debussy set a sequence from the start of the first tableau, ‘Les Masques’, involving stanzas 1 and 3 of the opening song for Mezzetin in Verlaine’s comedy Les Uns et les autres. The action is set in a park Ă  la Watteau late one summer afternoon as Mezzetin attempts to entertain a group of nonchalant masqueraders with only the aid of his voice and a mandolin..This appears to have been prefaced by a slower, elegiac introduction reminiscent of the opening of the comtemporary Cello Sonata and it leads to a danced minuet by the masqued dancers which has clear echoes of the piano piece L’Isle Joyeuse (1904). Following Laloy’s scenario, the mas-queraders then sing extracts from Verlaine’s ‘A la promenade’ (from FĂȘtes galantes itself). The minuet returns at greater length before being cut short by a chilly gust of wind, after which the park returns to its orginal state (and music) as though nothing had really happened.ï»ż
