By Chicago. By Peter Cetera. Arranged by Javier Martínez. Pop,Rock. Score. 5 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #4742215. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742484).

If You Leave Me Now is the title of a hit ballad by the American rock group Chicago, from their album Chicago X. It was written and sung by bass player Peter Cetera and released as a single on July 31, 1976. It is also the title of a Chicago compilation album released by Columbia Records (Columbia 38590) in 1983.

The single topped the US charts on October 23, 1976, and stayed there for two weeks, making it the first number one hit for the group as well as hitting number one on the Easy Listening charts.[4] If You Leave Me Now was also Chicago's biggest hit internationally, topping the charts in other countries such as the UK, Australia, Ireland, Canada, and Netherlands. In the UK it maintained the number one position for three weeks.[5] It was one of only five non-disco songs to make it to number one in the US in a nine-month period of 1976.[6]According to writer Zachary Houle of PopMatters, The song was so pervasive on radio upon its release that, reportedly, those tuning in inNew York could hear the song playing on four different stations, each with varying formats, simultaneously.[7]

The song won Grammy Awards for Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) (strings) for arranger Jimmie Haskell[8] and producerJames William Guercio[9] and Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus,[10] the first Grammy Award won by the group.[11] It also received a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year.[12] In addition, by August 1978 it had sold 1.4 million copies in the United States alone.[13] It has been certified gold and platinum by the RIAA.[14]

In 2010 Chicago teamed with the American Cancer Society and offered the opportunity to bid on the chance to sing their hit, If You Leave Me Now with them on stage live at their concerts, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society to fight breast cancer.[15] The fund raising effort has continued in succeeding years.

Thanks, John.  I Can See Clearly Now is a song written and recorded by American singer-songwriter Johnny Nash.  It was the lead single from his album, I Can See Clearly Now (1972), and achieved success in the United States and the United Kingdom when it was released in 1972, reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box charts.  It also reached number one in Canada and South Africa.  After Nash wrote and composed the original version, he recorded it in London with members of the Fabulous Five Inc., and produced it himself.  The song's arrangements and style are both heavily laced with reggae influences, as Nash had earlier collaborated with Bob Marley and his approach drew strongly from Marley's reggae style.

By Don McLean. By Don McLean. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Folk,Musical/Show,Rock,Singer/Songwriter. Score. 10 pages. Timothy Stapay #1067707. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1490922).

Vincent (Starry, Starry Night) is a song by Don McLean, written as a tribute to Vincent van Gogh.

McLean wrote the lyrics in 1971 after reading a book about the life of Van Gogh. It was released on McLean's 1971 American Pie album; the following year, the song topped the UK Singles Chart for two weeks, and peaked at No. 12 in the United States, where it also hit No. 2 on the Easy Listening chart. Billboard ranked it as the No. 94 song for 1972.

Lyrics:

Starry
Starry night
Paint your palette blue and grey

Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the
Darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils

Catch the breeze and the winter chills

In colors on the snowy linen land.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
They did not know how

Perhaps they'll listen now.

Starry
Starry night
Flaming flo'rs that brightly blaze

Swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in
Vincent's eyes of China blue.
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain

Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's
Loving hand.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free.
Perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you
But still your love was true

And when no hope was left in sight on that starry
Starry night.
You took your life
As lovers often do;
But I could have told you
Vincent
This world was never
Meant for one
As beautiful as you.

Starry
Starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls

Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes
That watch the world and can't forget.
Like the stranger that you've met

The ragged men in ragged clothes

The silver thorn of bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken
On the virgin snow.
And now I think I know what you tried to say to me

How you suffered for your sanity

How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
They're not
List'ning still
Perhaps they never will.

By O.C. Smith. By Bobby Russell. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Country,Film/TV,Pop,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Timothy Stapay #997124. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1415388).

Here is a timeless country classic arranged for piano solo.  A song the whole family will love to sing.

Little Green Apples is a classic country song that was recorded by Glen Campbell in 1968.

It was written by Bobby Russell and became a major hit, reaching the top 40 charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom. The song’s popularity has endured over the years, and it remains a beloved classic in the country music genre.

Bobby Gentry sang this song in a wonderful duet with Glenn on his T.V. show.

[Verse 1]
Well, I wake up in the mornin' with my hair down in my eyes
And she says, Hi
And I hurry to the breakfast table while the kids are goin' off to school, Goodbye
And she reaches out and takes my hand
And squeezes it and says, How you feelin', Hon?
And I look across at smilin' lips that warms my heart
And I see my mornin' sun

[Pre-Chorus]
And if that's not lovin' me
Then all I've got to say

[Chorus]
God didn't make the little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime
There's no such thing as Dr. Suess
Disneyland and Mother Goose, no nursery rhyme
God didn't make the little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime
And when my self is feelin' low
I think about your face aglow and ease my mind

[Verse 2]
Sometimes I call him up knowin' he's busy
And ask if he could get away and meet me
Maybe grab a bite to eat
And he drops what he's doin' and hurries down to meet me
And I'm always late
He sits waitin' patiently and smiles when he first sees me
'Cause he's made that way

[Pre-Chorus]
And if that's not lovin' me
Then all I've got to say

[Chorus]
God didn't make the little green apples
And it don't snow in Indianapolis when the winter come
There's no such thing as make-believe
Puppy dogs and autumn leaves, no BB gun
God didn't make the little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime
And when my self is feelin' low
I think about your face aglow and ease my mind

Composed by Abe Holzmann. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Contest,Festival,Historic,Instructional,Multicultural,World. Score. 9 pages. Keith Terrett #1035313. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1456161).

Abe Holzmann wrote some very fine marches, but here's one inspired by a book. Herbert Kaufman's 1910 book The Winning Fight inspired this winning march (it's a book about self-mastery and fostering a can-do attitude). Tiis march was published by Leo Feist in New York City in 1911.Arrangement of a March by Abe Holzmann (1874-1939),  writthn in 1911. He also wrote what is probably his best known march Blaze Away''.

Blaze Away! is a 1901 march by the German-American composer Abe Holzmann. It was his greatest success.

Holzmann was inspired by the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish–American War, when a command to American sailors to open fire on the Spanish fleet was reputedly met with the response Well boys, let's blaze away by the gunners. Building on the war fever in the United States, the cover of the sheet music featured an image resembling Theodore Roosevelt charging at San Juan Hill. Very popular as a two-step, its success outlasted the war and it became a repertoire piece amongst military bands around the world.

Abraham Holzmann (19 August 1874 – 16 January 1939) was an American composer, famous for his march Blaze-Away! Abraham Holzmann was born in New York City. His parents were Jacob Holzmann, a Hungarian-Jewish immigrant and Isabella Holzmann, a native of Louisiana. The young Holzmann learned music in Germany. A review originally published by the New York Herald on Sunday, 13 January 1901, entitled German Composer who Writes American Cakewalk Music describes [h]is knowledge of bass and counterpoint is thorough, and his standard compositions bear the stamp of harmonic lore, which makes his proclivity for the writing of the popular style of music the more remarkable. Abe married Isabelle Fishblatt around 1908, and he became the manager of the Orchestra Department at Jerome Remick & Company, music publisher in New York. He was an early member (1923) of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). He earned his livelihood as composer/arranger for Tin Pan Alley publishers, including Leo Feist. He later was advertising manager for the American Federation of Musicians publication, International Musician. He was a member of Freemasonry, the Elks, and Knights of Pythias, all in New York City. Holzmann died in East Orange, New Jersey at age 64. He was survived by his widow, a daughter Natalie Holzmann, three half-brothers, and four sisters. His music was especially revered by ragtime enthusiasts, although he composed marches, waltzes, and other light music. His 1899 composition Smokey Mokes was briefly featured in the 1936 movie San Francisco.

FOR SOLO PIANO, LATE INTERMEDIATE, 21 PAGES
.....................................
In this whimsical marriage of astronomy and music, my husband,  astrophysicist, Dr. Martin Duncan and I have combined our talents to celebrate the beauty of the night sky and the magic of music. M.H. Duncan

Martha Hill Duncan
’s passion for music started early, inspired by her mother, who sang and played the piano by ear. Martha was a member of the first graduating class of the Houston High School for Performing and Visual Arts and earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from the University of Texas at Austin.
Her piano works have been inspired, at least in part, by her long-time career as a piano teacher and some of these pieces, as well as her art songs, appear in educational publications and syllabi. Piano collection titles include The Sunken Garden, Isla Vista Suite, Precipitations, Angular Measures, Limestone Etchings, Rainy Days and Cottage Days. Since moving from the United States to Canada, many of her compositions have been inspired by Canadian landscapes and texts. In January 2014, her youth opera, Searching the Painted Sky, with poet/librettist Janet Windeler Ryan, was premiered at the National Opera Association Convention in New York City. She was named a finalist for the 2020 Louis Applebaum Award.
A former piano examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music, she is also a founding member of Red Leaf Pianoworks, a self-publishing composers’ collective. Originally from Houston, Texas, Martha and her husband Martin have lived in Kingston, Ontario since 1988. She also conducts the women’s choir She Sings! and has two grown children and two granddaughters. To explore more of her music, please visit www.marthahillduncan.com

Dr. Martin Duncan was born in London, England and was raised in Montreal, Canada. As a child, his biggest question was, “What would happen if...?†His first experiments involved creating foul-smelling concoctions with his chemistry set in his
parents’ basement. He survived and went on to complete an Honours Physics degree at McGill University, followed by graduate degrees in astronomy at the Universities of Toronto and Texas at Austin. Post-doctoral research was performed at Cornell University, the University of Toronto and the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 1988, he became a professor of astronomy and physics at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
In his academic career he has co-authored over 120 scientific papers, which have been cited over 8,000 times. He has presented numerous invited talks at international scientific conferences and has been the guest speaker at many public lectures. His research has ranged from the study of black holes to simulations of the formation and orbital evolution of planets and comets. He is best known for the prediction of the existence of a disk of small icy bodies beyond Neptune, which he and his colleagues called the Kuiper Belt. In 1996, the International Astronomical Union named Asteroid 6115 “martinduncan†in honor of his contributions to planetary dynamics.

Somewhere in Time is a 1980 romantic drama film starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. The film's score was composed by John Barry, who is known for his work on other famous films like the James Bond series.

The theme song of the film, also titled Somewhere in Time, was composed by John Barry with lyrics by Cynthia Weil. The song is a beautiful and haunting melody that perfectly captures the romantic and nostalgic tone of the film.

The song begins with a gentle piano melody, which is joined by a string section that swells and intensifies as the song progresses. The lyrics speak of a love that transcends time and space, and the longing to be reunited with a lost lover.

The chorus of the song is particularly memorable, with its soaring melody and poignant lyrics:

Somewhere in time We'll meet again We'll start another story, darling I'll love you, 'til the end of time

The song was performed by singer and actress Maureen McGovern, who brings a heartfelt and emotional quality to the lyrics. Her beautiful voice, combined with John Barry's masterful composition, make the song an unforgettable part of the film.

Somewhere in Time has become a beloved classic among film music enthusiasts, and the song has been covered by many artists over the years. Its enduring popularity is a testament to the power of music to capture the essence of a film and evoke strong emotions in listeners.
