Piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q19894 Piano piece in two movements based on a poem by Friedrich Hölderlin. Composed by Eduard Puetz. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 8 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q19894. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19894). Eduard Pütz was inspired to write this piano piece by the poem 'Hälfte des Lebens' by Friedrich Hölderlin. In this composition, the two thoughts of the fullness of life (youth) and the expectation of death (age) provoke contrasting musical emotions and structures. Consequently, the two-movement structure of the composition is caused by the opposing nature of Hölderlin's two verses. The music carries great intensity and expressiveness, yet is never merely illustrative or programme music. An important contribution to 20th-century piano music.

Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1207336 By Keith Terrett. By Frederick M. Lehman. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Historic,Multicultural,Patriotic,Praise & Worship,Traditional,World. Score (Chords/Lyrics). 3 pages. Keith Terrett #805498. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1207336). The Pitcairn Islands are a remote British colony in the South Pacific, famous for being the site where the mutineers from the HMS Bounty landed. The islands’ population have always been very small (currently numbering around 50), yet, aside from the official anthem of God Save the King (which is not heard often on the islands), there have been, and continue to be, many unofficial anthems in use in the colony. In Diana Jolliffe Belcher’s 1871 book “The Mutineers of the Bounty and their Decendants in Pitcairn and Norfolk Island” it is reported that a local poem by Rev. G. H. Nobbs was set to the tune “Rousseau’s Dream” (sheet music) and was considered by Pitcairners to be their anthem at the time. It is not known for how long this was considered as their anthem, however. Also, in 1856, several Pitcairners resettled on Norfolk Island as Pitcairn had become too small. The local anthem now in use on Norfolk Island, Come Ye Blessed, is also referred to as the “Pitcairn Anthem”, and more than likely was brought to the island by the Pitcairn settlers, suggesting that this anthem was in use on Pitcairn at that time, and is also heard on Pitcairn currently.Currently, the song “We From Pitcairn Island” (to the tune of the hymn “The Royal Telephone”) is used as an unofficial anthem at gatherings and the like. The lyrics were written by Pitcairner Melva Evans with assistance from the local Seventh Day Adventist Pastor L. A. J. Webster in 1962 to be performed by the school children on board a visiting cruise ship, but the song became identified by residents as their unofficial anthem. Other songs, such as “The Goodbye Song” (written by Pitcairner Amelia Young), and the hymn “In The Sweet By and By” are considered unofficial “Pitcairn songs” at gatherings as well. (“Goodbye songs”, sung to ships as they leave the country, are a tradition in many Polynesian islands, and are part of the patriotic music of those countries.).

This is a unique and delicate arrangement for solo piano that you can play at Christmas celebrations, services or even recitals in your home. You, your family, friends, audience or congregation will love to hear the beautiful and delicate harmonies, the different rhythms and variations that this interesting arrangement presents. I hope you enjoy it.Hark! The Herald Angels Sing is an English Christmas carol that first appeared in 1739 in the collection Hymns and Sacred Poems. The carol, based on Luke 2:14, tells of an angelic chorus singing praises to God. As it is known in the modern era, it features lyrical contributions from Charles Wesley and George Whitefield, two of the founding ministers of Methodism, with music adapted from Vaterland, in deinen Gauen by Felix Mendelssohn.Wesley, who had written the original version as Hymn for Christmas-Day, had requested and received slow and solemn music for his lyrics, which has since largely been discarded. Moreover, Wesley's original opening couplet is Hark! how all the welkin rings / Glory to the King of Kings. The popular version is the result of alterations by various hands, most notably by Whitefield, who changed the opening couplet to the familiar one. In 1840-a hundred years after the publication of Hymns and Sacred Poems-Mendelssohn composed a cantata to commemorate Johann Gutenberg's invention of movable type printing, and it is music from this cantata, adapted by the English musician William H. Cummings to fit the lyrics of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, that propels the carol known today.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.672443 By Ludwig van Beethoven. By T H AN. Arranged by T H AN. Classical. Score. 5 pages. An #281395. Published by An (A0.672443). The first Movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. The first movement, in C♯ minor, is written in an approximate truncated sonata form. The movement opens with an octave in the left hand and a triplet figuration in the right. A melody that Hector Berlioz called a lamentation, mostly by the right hand, is played against an accompanying ostinato triplet rhythm, simultaneously played by the right hand. The movement is played pianissimo or very quietly, and the loudest it gets is mezzo forte or moderately loud. The adagio sostenuto has made a powerful impression on many listeners; for instance, Berlioz said of it that it is one of those poems that human language does not know how to qualify. Beethoven's student Carl Czerny called it a nocturnal scene, in which a mournful ghostly voice sounds from the distance. The movement was very popular in Beethoven's day, to the point of exasperating the composer himself, who remarked to Czerny, Surely I've written better things..

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1325492 By Stephen R Dalrymple. By Charles Wesley & Felix Mendelssohn (WH Cummings). Arranged by Stephen R Dalrymple. Advent,Sacred. Score. 17 pages. Could I replicate the angel’s basic speech patterns? My study of Greek in seminary has given me a pretty good idea of how to pronounce the consonants and vowels of the Greek language. But I would want to listen to someone who actually speaks Greek as their mother tongue to have an idea of the prosody. After further study, I have rewritten the angels’ music; this update represents my latest understanding.♫ Although Latin was the language of the Roman conquerors, Greek was the lingua franca of the Mediterranean world of the first century. Some scholars want us to believe that most of the Jews were not erudite enough to speak Greek. ♫ Yet those of us who have travelled to countries like Haiti, are not surprised that many people there speak Kreyòl, French, English and Spanish!♫ I began searching for someone who actually spoke Greek conversationally to pronounce Luke 2 :14 in Greek. After I found a reliable source, I reduced the rhythm and the accented sylables to simpified music notation. I pulled from my knowledge of ancient modes and used my imagination to add pitches and repetitions of phrases. The melodic and harmonic result is completely inventive, but I believe the basic rhythm of the speech is fairly accurate.♫ This .pdf file includes 2 files: 1) Letter size piano score 2) Small page piano score for performing from a 10 inch tablet♫ (Tell your computer which pages you want to print.
