RH passages are written in such a way as to limit position shifts allowing easier execution. The Bird Song is a piano solo arrangement of the 1899 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, which was originally a ballad for voice and piano.  This is mostly a new composition inspired by the Jacobs-Bond piece.  I took the tune's 8-bar vocal melody and changed several of the notes then put it in the Left Hand.  In the Right Hand I created twittering birds.  The ending section elongates the final cadence into a dozen measures of twittering and posturing, followed by a Coda in a new Time Signature of rest and twittered farewells.  This makes a simple, delightful, lilting dance.  1 page score; 1:20 minutesThis piece is also found in my book, Carrie Jacobs-Bond, Popular Songs 1900-1925, a collection of 51 of her songs I have arranged for piano solo, which is also available on this site.

A Song of the Hills is a piano solo arrangement of the 1915 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, which was originally a ballad for voice and piano.  I have taken fragments of this melody and set it in 2 part writing.  The first section is Baroque in style and ornamented with mordents and has a broken triad accompaniment.  The second section is Classical in style with legato lines and extended broken chords.  These two sections repeat.  Then the final section has an abridged variation of the Baroque theme, then climaxes with trills and flourishes in the Classical style.  This piece maintains a happy feeling throughout and will put a smile on your face.   2 page score; 1:25 minutesThis piece is also found in my book, Carrie Jacobs-Bond, Popular Songs 1900-1925, a collection of 51 of her songs I have arranged for piano solo, which is also available on this site.
