Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.851104 By Nine Inch Nails. By Trent Reznor. Arranged by Whimsically Macabre (ASCAP). Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Stacy Fahrion #4633863. Published by Stacy Fahrion (A0.851104). This solo piano arrangement was inspired by the version on Black Mirror. It's arranged by Stacy Fahrion/Whimsically Macabre Music (ASCAP).I get really excited when music can carry multiple contradictory meanings, and spend a lot of time thinking about how I can mess with my audience by making things sound familiar but wrong. When I saw the Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too episode of Black Mirror, I recognized the melody of the oddly upbeat pop song Ashley O was singing but couldn't quite place it because unconsciously I knew something was really off, and then slowly it dawned on me that it was a NIN cover, and I flipped out with utter joy that someone had just done something to me that I'm constantly trying to do to them. Every time the song played throughout the episode, I couldn't stop laughing, not just at the lyrics, but especially at a certain trite & upbeat sounding bassline and all of the different musical elements that completely changed the feel of the original. So of course I needed to write my own arrangement of that arrangement. I hope you enjoy it. Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.750160 Composed by Bradley Sowash. 20th Century,Jazz,New Age. Score. 37 pages. Bradley Sowash #1891755. Published by Bradley Sowash (A0.750160). Ever notice how little contemporary music is available for advanced pianists? It's like you pass level 5 and all you have is the classical canon. Here's an evocative suite you can really dig your teeth into with proven audience appeal. Note: The recording includes bass and drums that were added in the studio. However, the composer intends this suite for solo piano and has performed it many times in that context.. Composer's Comments: ELEMENTS was created during a visit to the Pacific Northwest, where the natural world exhibits an unusual intensity and the elements are quite prominently display. With this music I hope to capture the contrasts between the four elements as well as the dual natures within each of them. Water, for example, is both a source of life and potentially dangerous. Air is both breath and wind. Fire comforts or burns. Only Earth seemed to me continuous and dependable. Level: Advanced Video: https://youtu.be/S-6iWvQcryU?list=PLS-9O7RWuXdc88bLVl4lziJimyUj8s5nW.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596585 By Queen. By Freddie Mercury and Frederick Mercury. Arranged by Juan María Solare. Rock. Score. 5 pages. Juan Maria Solare #5214229. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596585).   Love Of My Life -composed by Freddie Mercury- is one of the most beautiful ballads in the history of rock music, and a fantastic song to play as piano solo.   This is not a simplified arrangement. Is an arrangement that will sound quite like the original - with the obvious difference that all music and secondary melodies must be played by a single instrument - the piano.   This version follows the studio recording, not the version made by Queen for their live performances.   My score includes chord symbols, in case you prefer to play them instead of reading exactly each note I've written.   You can have a listen at YouTube (and soon on Spotify and other digital platforms): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0J013MNcNU   Love Of My Life was included on Queen’s album A Night at the Opera (1975). The ballad was composed for Mary Austin.     Freddie Mercury said about this song:   Love Of My Life is adapted on stage for guitar, but it was written on the piano. I've totally forgotten the original and if you asked me to play that now, I couldn't. Sometimes, I have to go back to the music sheet, and I can't read that well either. (Queen Archives – Freddie Mercury Interview, Melody Maker 05-02-1981)   I hate this thing about trying to recreate the albums on stage. We sometimes deliberately change. Look at 'Love Of My Life', for instance. On record I play piano on that but on stage it's just Brian playing the guitar and me singing it, because it works on stage better that way.   (Love Of My Life – Queenpedia.com – Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon, Discography, Bibliography, Charts.)

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1211855 Composed by Elizabeth Borowsky. Blues,Jazz. Score. 17 pages. Piano Prodigies #809405. Published by Piano Prodigies (A0.1211855). You know that feeling when you spin in circles and then stop... but the world keeps spinning around you? You might try to walk away and pretend that you're not dizzy, but you can feel that you're swaying left and right. Well, the residents of Dizzytown have this feeling ALL the time as their little town is constantly spinning. But they quite like it (in fact, they have learned to dance to it) and they are inviting you and your audience to join them.Score Length: 3 pages PLUS optional violin and cello parts. Can be played as a violin-piano duo or violin-piano-cello trio!

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1468149 By Damien Gauci. By Damien Gauci. Contemporary,New Age. Score. 4 pages. Damien Gauci #1030402. Published by Damien Gauci (A0.1468149). I always enjoy writing something simple but pretty and this piece is exactly that. As with many of my other piano compositions, I enjoy writing them in the style of “soft piano” pieces which you can listen to while you study, work, relax, or anything else. I initially came up with the original motif at the start of the piece which I really liked and expanded it into a full piece. When coming up to the B section I made it too dramatic and it would probably be too distracting for the listener if they were working or studying so I decided to start over with the B section and write something that expanded upon the original motif in a subtle and sweet way.I am quite pleased with the finished composition, it turned out in a way that I was aiming for from the beginning. As for the title, I sat down after I had finished writing the piece and listened to it a few times and brainstormed some names. I eventually settled on the name that it is now: ‘Some Things Don’t Always Last’ which has a bitter-sweet quality to it. I think it fits quite well with the piece as it’s like a lullaby that comes and goes. A distant memory that is recalled because of an old toy you found or because you drove past your childhood home that you grew up in.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869565 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 20 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #3384143. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869565). Program note: While browsing Amazon I stumbled upon a number of CD recordings of Morton Feldman’s 60-minute-plus work for solo piano, For Bunita Marcus. So I decided to give the music a listen. The experience of listening to the music was quite amazing. Confession: I have always been an admirer of Feldman’s minimalist music - its spare, lingering, and acoustically gorgeous sonorities.   I had just finished a Horn Trio for Irina Muresanu and was not yet ready to embark on a song cycle with text by the Italian playwright Luigi Pirandello. So I said to myself why not write a morton feldman-like solo piano piece, just for the hell of it? So, I did. I thought the idea of using chance in the style of John Cage would be appropriate to a Morton Feldman piece. In my case, I used a deck of cards.  I started composing on November 14 and finished seven days later on the 21st.   The work (unlike MF's unusual lengths) is only 20 minutes long.Bandcamp link: https://thomasoboelee.bandcamp.com/album/for-morton-feldman-2017Video link: https://youtu.be/vCGAIBz2SMY

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.980450 Composed by Gary Noland. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score. 192 pages. Freeland Publications #3246581. Published by Freeland Publications (A0.980450). Duration: ca. 90 minutes-2 hours. Quite possibly the longest set of piano variations in the entire classical music literature, with the exception, perhaps, of certain sets of variations for piano by Kaikhosru Shapurgi Sorabji. This work ends with a monstrous 35-page long fugue. In the 18th century, Bach composed the Goldberg Variations (30 variations), in the 19th century Beethoven composed the Diabelli Variations (33 variations), in the 20th century Frederic Rzewski composed The People United Will Never Be Defeated (36 variations), and now, in the 21st century, Gary Noland has composed his monumental 39 Variations on an Original Theme in F Major. (There seems to be a pattern of three variations added on for each century). This is a work for adventurous first-rate pianists! Some of the variations are self-contained and may be played separate from the whole.I'm fascinated by your variations. Perhaps a marathon performance with many pianists doing several variations? Could be interesting. RIchard Strauss would have loved it.-Jed Distler, pianist. Sheer genius!!!!   Move over Bach!!!!!-Alfred Watson, composer & pianist. Very nice and exciting! I listened [to] both the parts on you tube and I was not bored at all ... impeccable technique with echos (in my opinion) from Bach, Beethoven, Satie up to contemporaries, and many others ... many compliments!!!-Sisto PalombellaOne word: monumental!-Joseph Ford, composerThis is amazing music … Wow!!!-John William BaxterBeautifully put together. Three cheers!-Scott Giles, composerThis is a remarkable set of variations, not only for the immensely imaginative treatment of the theme but also for the vast array of stylistic influences incorporated into the score. One need only listen to five minutes to appreciate the craftsmanship!-Lenny Cavallaro, composerI'm enjoying this very much. Piano - Digital Download SKU: RX.9783737803298 Sheet music for piano. Composed by Mulo Francel, Quandro Nuevo. Text language: English. World music. 4 pages. Published by Roba Music Verlag (RX.9783737803298). This song is a travelling song written under the impression of several tours through South and East Europe, the Balkans and around the Black Sea. Dedicated to Jason, the hero of the Greek mythology, it has to be played in a hymnic manner. Jason went on a most adventurous journey to the very outermost coast of the Black Sea with this motley entourage - the Argonauts - in order to seize the Golden Fleece, a gigantic golden ram skin. Just about where the Georgian city of Batumi is today. If you would like to know more about it, you may want to read the chapter “Die Reise nach Batumi†(The Journey to Batumi) in our roadbook “Quadro Nuevo: Grand Voyage. To every person who is interested in these old myths, I recommend the books of the author and journalist Michael Kohlmeier, for example his amusing interpretations of the Sagen des Klassischen Altertums (Sagas of the classical antiquity). Just East of Batumi the Caucasus begins, with its colourful mixture of ancient peoples and cultures. I have always been fascinated with musicians who originate from this region. For example the composer Aram Katschaturian or the pianist David Gazarov, with whom I often play concerts. An Eastern groove suits this song well, quite comparable to a fast rumba. I suggest you play the intro (may be extended) and the theme (measures 6 to 39) first. Then you may improvise freely over the AABA-form of the theme. The last solo part is shortened because the B-part leads into a percussion solo. This percussion solo may be omited. After the last complete solo part you can repeat the theme and then play the al fine. For Improvisation: On a separate sheet I am offering some scales to the chords of the song in various transpositions, which is helpful as basic material for improvisations. Some chords (like the very first one) fit several different scales. Decide for yourself which one you prefer. Or maybe even make up your own. Even though these notes may sound right with the chords, one thing always holds true in creative music: There should be no dogmatic wrong or right. Sometimes what seems like a wrong note, could give the progression of the melody its special colour, tension and spice. Sometimes an improvisation with exclusive right notes is correct in music theory, but sounds terribly boring. Besides, every improviser is encouraged to happily help themselves to the chromatics. All of this is only a suggestion. Music becomes exciting and colourful when the basic material is interpreted in an imaginative and creative way!

Contains:End Of The Line - taken from the Isadar solo piano collection, The Journey (available soon on SheetMusicDirect and SheetMusicPlus) Sounds like: Liz Story, George Winston, early Windham Hill solo piano artists Transcribed by: David Shenton ( https://www.shentonmusic.com/ ) verbatim to the sound recording Album & Songbook review by:Kathy Parsons (MainlyPiano.com): Isadar’s fourth solo piano album is a blend of smooth jazz and new age, showing both his impressive technique and sensitivity to melody. Several of the eight selections are free-form and improvisational, revealing some of Liz Story’s influence on his music. Some of Isadar’s earlier recordings have very dark, moody sections, but this one stays fairly upbeat and optimistic without being ear candy. The music is complex enough to sink your teeth into, and yet is accessible enough to enjoy as a backdrop to a quiet dinner or an evening with a good book. Joyful Running begins the journey with an exuberant and uplifting piece that reminds me a little of some of Spencer Brewer’s bouncier compositions. Fountain of Life is a beautiful piece with a water-like flow that never stops in its 10 1/2 minutes. I listened to this CD several times without realizing that this song was that long. It flows and meanders so effortlessly that it seemed no longer than the other seven selections, most of which are between four and five minutes in length. Unstructured and free, this is one of my favorite tracks. I also really like the title track, which is even more abstract and unstructured. The tone is of searching and moving forward. End of the Line is my favorite on this album. Very introspective and contemplative, this seems to be a very personal piece. It is the most somber track, but one still senses hope despite the ending of something dear and important. Or maybe it’s simply the end of the journey and the dread of returning to real life - I feel this way on the last day of my vacations! It is a wonderful and moving closing to an excellent album. The companion songbook is expertly transcribed and engraved by David Shenton of New York Music Publishing. The layout of the music is clear and uncluttered, and the notation includes pedal markings and dynamics that allow the pianist to express the music as closely as possible to how Isadar played it on the recording. A few of the pieces are quite long and require a more advanced pianist who is able to express the nuances that keep the recording so interesting, but several of the pieces are well within the capabilities of upper intermediate players. Some of the rhythms are a little bit tricky, but the majority of the left hand parts are running eighth notes, which make it easier. None of the key signatures are difficult, and none of the chords have a reach of more than an octave, making this music very playable for smaller hands. My favorite pieces to play in this book are Joyful Running, Voice of God (Thanksgiving), Smoke Signals, and End of the Line. Isadar is an artist on both Enlightened Piano Radio & Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, the latter featuring some of today's biggest names in solo piano music, including Ludovico Einaudi, David Nevue, Brian Crain, Kevin Kern, Robin Spielberg, Michele McLaughlin, Philip Wesley and over 300 more...
