It reached No. 1 on the US Country chard, No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 1 on the Easy Listening surveys, and No. 1 on the UK Singles chart. In my solo piano arrangement for easy intermediate players, the L.H. plays an easy bass line to accompany the melody and chords in the R.H. In the chorus the bass line turns into an ostinato pattern.
