SKU: A0.507272

Composed by Heather Cattanach. 20th Century,Children,Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 3 pages. Published by Heather Cattanach (A0.507272).

Vain Queen Cassiopeia boasted that her beauty surpassed that of the Nereids (sea nymphs). Poseidon, angered, sent a sea monster to destroy her land. King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia chained their daughter Andromeda to a rock as a sacrifice to the sea monster to appease Poseidon. Luckily, Perseus heroically rescued Andromeda. Cassiopeia’s punishment for her vanity was to spend all of eternity on her throne in the sky, half the year hanging upside down. The 5-star W shape of her throne can be seen in the northern hemisphere sky. You can draw Ws or Ms as per bars 1, 2, 31 and 32 wherever her theme recurs, if you like. This piece is written in Locrian mode, creating a dissonant, dark and unstable mood. This Intermediate Piano Solo is from “88 Constellations†a collection by Heather Cattanach featuring one piece of piano music for each of the 88 constellations (to match the number of keys on a standard piano). Performance Time 1 1/2 minutes. 2 pages. A nice recital set could include Cassiopeia, Andromeda, Cepheus, Perseus and Cetus. (General Instructional, 21st Century, Modern, Repertoire, Recital, Modal).

SKU: A0.742413

Composed by W. A Mozart. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Classical,Concert,Standards,World. Score. 4 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #3012165. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742413).

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (/ˈwÊŠlfɡæŋ æməˈdeɪəs ˈmoÊŠtsÉ‘Ërt/; moht-sart;[1] German: [ˈvÉ”lfÉ¡aÅ‹ amaˈdeËÊŠs ˈmoËtsaÊt]; 27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791), baptised asJohannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart,[2] was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era.

Born in Salzburg, he showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. At 17, Mozart was engaged as a musician at the Salzburg court, but grew restless and traveled in search of a better position. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position. He chose to stay in the capital, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his death.

The circumstances of his early death have been much mythologized. He was survived by his wife Constanze and two sons.

He composed more than 600 works, many acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral music. He is among the most enduringly popular of classical composers, and his influence is profound on subsequent Western art music. Ludwig van Beethoven composed his own early works in the shadow of Mozart, and Joseph Haydn wrote: posterity will not see such a talent again in 100 years. SKU: A0.1394832

Composed by Richard Addinsell. Arranged by Timothy Stapay/Liberace. 20th Century,Classical,Film/TV,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 12 pages. Timothy Stapay #978316. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1394832).

Warsaw Concerto is arranged as performed by legendary pianist, Liberace.  This is the same version that he performed on his t.v. show and in concerts in Las Vegas and around the world.   Now for the first time; you can learn to play this awesome and dramatic music in the same flamboyant style as Liberace!

The Warsaw Concerto is a short work for piano and orchestra by Richard Addinsell, written for the 1941 British film Dangerous Moonlight, which is about the Polish struggle against the 1939 invasion by Nazi Germany. In performance it normally lasts just under ten minutes. The concerto is an example of programme music, representing both the struggle for Warsaw and the romance of the leading characters in the film. It became very popular in Britain during World War II.

The concerto is written in imitation of the style of Sergei Rachmaninoff.

The composer, Richard Addinsell, was born in London and initially studied law before turning to a career in music. His time at the Royal College of Music was brief, as he was soon drawn to musical theatre, and he also wrote for radio, but his most memorable contributions are to a series of film scores beginning in 1936. He wrote the music for the 1939 film Goodbye, Mr. Chips, the original movie, Gaslight.

Władziu Valentino Liberace(May 16, 1919 – February 4, 1987) was an American pianist, singer, and actor.  He was born in Wisconsin to parents of Italian and Polish origin and enjoyed a career spanning four decades of concerts, recordings, television, motion pictures, and endorsements. At the height of his fame from the 1950s to 1970s, he was the highest-paid entertainer in the world!
