At the time, the couple were lovers, although MacColl was still married to his second wife, Jean Newlove. Seeger sang the song when the duo performed in folk clubs around Britain. During the 1960s, it was recorded by various folk singers and became a major international hit for Roberta Flack in 1972.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1200247 By Kathleen Ryan. By Kathleen Ryan. Classical,New Age,Romantic Period. Score. 9 pages. Indigo Mesa Music LLC #799047. Published by Indigo Mesa Music LLC (A0.1200247). ā€œOn the western prairie, nestled against a hill, there is an unexpected forest: shade and water abound. Travelers on the Oregon Trail rested here before returning to the treacherous journey. One summer that forest was all I dreamed of.ā€ ~ Kathleen RyanAdvanced technique: a very challenging solo with a rewarding breadth of expression. What the Stars Saw on the Prairie has been called a ā€œthree-handedā€ piece: in its most difficult section the LH plays the bass, the RH plays an upper descant, and the melody is split between both hands in the middle register of the piano. The first recording engineer who heard this piece (but who could not see into the studio) believed that Kathleen had recruited an extra person to play with her. The music truly fits two hands, as long as both hands are willing to move around quite a lot!

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1213917 By Roy Clark. By Charles Aznavour and Herbert Kretzmer. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Film/TV,Jazz,Multicultural,Singer/Songwriter,Standards,World. Score. 8 pages. Timothy Stapay #811114. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1213917). Yesterday When I was Young is a song composed by Georges Garvarentz and written by Charles Aznavour and released in September 1964.Ā  The original French title translates to Just yesterday or Not so long ago.It is considered one of Aznavour's greatest hits. The English-language lyrics, written by Herbert Kretzmer, tell of someone reflecting on his life, recalling how he had wasted his younger years.Lyrics:[Verse 1]Yesterday when I was youngThe taste of life was sweet as rain upon my tongueI teased at life as if it were a foolish gameThe way the evening breeze may tease a candle flameThe thousand dreams I dreamed, the splendid things I plannedI always built, alas, on weak and shifting sandI lived by night and shunned the naked light of dayAnd only now I see how the years ran away[Verse 2]Yesterday, when I was youngSo many drinking songs were waiting to be sungSo many wayward pleasures lay in store for meAnd so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to seeI ran so fast that time and youth at last ran outI never stopped to think what life was all aboutAnd every conversation I can now recallConcerned itself with me, me and nothing else at all[Verse 3]Yesterday the moon was blueAnd every crazy day brought something new to doI used my magic age as if it were a wandAnd never saw the waste and emptiness beyondThe game of love I played with arrogance and prideAnd every flame I lit too quickly, quickly diedThe friends I made all seemed somehow to drift awayAnd only I am left on stage to end the play[Outro]There are so many songs in me that won't be sungI feel the bitter taste of tears upon my tongueThe time has come for me to pay for yesterdayWhen I was youngYoung, young...

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.972672 Composed by James Siddons. Christian,Concert,Contemporary,Easter. Score. 17 pages. James Siddons Music and Writings #6671707. Published by James Siddons Music and Writings (A0.972672). Sonata Hymnica No. 5 has the subtitle Scenes of Calvary. Landscape paintings and printed illustrations of the Cross of Calvary were ubiquitous in Christian literature in the late 19th century, so it not surprising that allusions to such art are found in the texts of hymns. The three hymns heard in Sonata Hymnica No. 5 all evoke some sense of seeing, in a spiritual way, the scene of the Crucifixion. Sonata Hymnica No. 5 opens with a sturdy and rugged statement of When I Survey the Wond’rous Cross, written by Isaac Watts in 1707. This poem continues: On which the Prince of Glory dy’d, . . . See from His Head, his Hands, his Feet, Sorrow and Love flow mingled down!   In the United States, music educator Lowell Mason (1792-1872) composed a tune in 1824 for singing Watts’ hymn. Named HAMBURG tune, it was an adapted form of some Gregorian chant in Church Mode I. This combination of poem and tune became very popular; so much so, that by the 1880s, elaborations of it appeared in print. The most enduring is the pairing of Watts’ poem and Mason’s tune with a simple camp meeting song, At the Cross, to be a refrain. It has the phrases, At the cross, where I first saw the light . . . It was there by faith I received my sight. The centerpiece of Sonata Hymnica No. 5 is the tune TOPLADY, the usual tune for singing Rock of Ages. This tune was composed in 1830 by Thomas Hastings (1784-1872), an associate of Lowell Mason in New York. He wrote hymns and hymn tunes, published hymnals, and worked tirelessly to elevate choral singing in churches. Hastings indicated that he intended his tune for singing Rock of Ages by naming it after the author of the hymn-poem, the English pastor Augustus Toplady (1740-1778). The Rev. A. B. Grosart wrote in a memorial that Toplady was no poet or inspired singer, but an impulsive, rash-spoken, reckless preacher who could nonetheless picture vanishing gleams of imaginative light in his hymnic verses. A better impression was gained by poet A. C. Benson (1862-1925), who, upon hearing Rock of Ages sung at William Gladstone’s funeral at Westminster Abbey in 1898 --- a rare State funeral attended by several members of the British Royal family --- wrote, To have written such words which should come home to people in moments of high, deep, and passionate emotion  . . . there can hardly be anything worth doing better than that. This high compliment came from the poet who, a few years later, would write the words of Elgar’s Coronation Ode for King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. A camp meeting song, a rash-spoken English pastor, two American music educators, a State funeral at Westminster Abbey --- such is the wide world of influence and inspiration of these three Scenes of Calvary.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1212848 Composed by Elizabeth Borowsky. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 6 pages. Piano Prodigies #810061. Published by Piano Prodigies (A0.1212848). A weekend morning hike on a trail in Norwich, Vermont turned into a magical experience when I paused to take a picture of an especially colorful tree and looked up at the sky above it. I saw the most unusual cloud formation that seemed to perfectly portray a gentle yet majestic angel, guiding the way, with a staff or trumpet in the right hand. This lyrical piece explores the concepts of a long melodic line over a quiet but ever-flowing accompaniment pattern and ascending arpeggiated patterns shared between the hands.
