Comme d'habitude is a French song composed in 1967 by Jacques Revaux, with lyrics by Claude François and Gilles Thibaut. The song is about routine in a relationship falling out of love. Here are some more details about the song:The song was originally written as a ballad named For Me with English lyrics about a couple falling out of love. The demo was then sent to Petula Clark, Dalida, and Claude François, but it was rejected. Jacques Revaux rejected a version by Hervé Villard and reworked the track into Comme d'habitude with the help of Claude François. François accepted but asked that an underlying theme of a couple in a strained relationship be included, in reference to his recent breakup with fellow French singer France Gall. With some rewriting from Gilles Thibaut, the song became Comme d'habitude in its best-known version in French, which was released by Claude François in 19683. The song became a hit in France and was later covered by many artists, including Frank Sinatra, who released it as My Way with English lyrics by Paul Anka. Comme d'habitude has become a classic French song and has been covered by many artists in French and other languages. Overall, Comme d'habitude is a classic French song that has become a beloved standard in the world of pop music. It showcases the songwriting talents of Jacques Revaux, Claude François, and Gilles Thibaut, as well as the emotional depth and resonance of the song's themes. The song has been covered by several artists and has become a timeless classic that continues to be celebrated by music lovers around the world.

Album & Songbook review by:
Kathy Parsons (MainlyPiano.com):
Isadar’s fourth solo piano album is a blend of smooth jazz and new age, showing both his impressive technique and sensitivity to melody. Several of the eight selections are free-form and improvisational, revealing some of Liz Story’s influence on his music. Some of Isadar’s earlier recordings have very dark, moody sections, but this one stays fairly upbeat and optimistic without being ear candy. The music is complex enough to sink your teeth into, and yet is accessible enough to enjoy as a backdrop to a quiet dinner or an evening with a good book.

Joyful Running begins the journey with an exuberant and uplifting piece that reminds me a little of some of Spencer Brewer’s bouncier compositions. Fountain of Life is a beautiful piece with a water-like flow that never stops in its 10 1/2 minutes. I listened to this CD several times without realizing that this song was that long. It flows and meanders so effortlessly that it seemed no longer than the other seven selections, most of which are between four and five minutes in length. Unstructured and free, this is one of my favorite tracks. I also really like the title track, which is even more abstract and unstructured. The tone is of searching and moving forward. End of the Line is my favorite on this album. Very introspective and contemplative, this seems to be a very personal piece. It is the most somber track, but one still senses hope despite the ending of something dear and important. Or maybe it’s simply the end of the journey and the dread of returning to real life - I feel this way on the last day of my vacations! It is a wonderful and moving closing to an excellent album.

The companion songbook is expertly transcribed and engraved by David Shenton of New York Music Publishing. The layout of the music is clear and uncluttered, and the notation includes pedal markings and dynamics that allow the pianist to express the music as closely as possible to how Isadar played it on the recording. A few of the pieces are quite long and require a more advanced pianist who is able to express the nuances that keep the recording so interesting, but several of the pieces are well within the capabilities of upper intermediate players. Some of the rhythms are a little bit tricky, but the majority of the left hand parts are running eighth notes, which make it easier. None of the key signatures are difficult, and none of the chords have a reach of more than an octave, making this music very playable for smaller hands. My favorite pieces to play in this book are Joyful Running, Voice of God (Thanksgiving), Smoke Signals, and End of the Line.

Isadar is an artist on both Enlightened Piano Radio & Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, the latter featuring some of today's biggest names in solo piano music, including Ludovico Einaudi, David Nevue, Brian Crain, Kevin Kern, Robin Spielberg, Michele McLaughlin, Philip Wesley and over 300 more...

By Willie Nelson. By Irving Berlin. Arranged by Dan Severino. Country. Score. 4 pages. Piano Teacher Press #6201071. Published by Piano Teacher Press (A0.864810).

Blue Skies is one of Irving Berlin's great songs.  It has been recorded by many vocal artists and featured in several movies.  In it's auspicious premier in the 1926 musical Betsy the audience demanded 24 encores of the piece. I think this is due to the melodic genius of Irving Berlin.

This arrangement is at the mid intermediate level. The catchy melody must always sing.  The rhythm is very catchy and the marked staccato chords will give the song the lightness and transparency to support the buoyant melody.

This arrangement is great for students and will help them develop their rhythmic and stylistic sense.  I think adult players will find this popular standard a great inclusion for their repertoire.  If you need something to bring a smile someone; this may be the perfect piece.

By Skeeter Davis. By Arthur Kent and Sylvia Dee. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Pop,Rock,Standards. Score. 6 pages. Timothy Stapay #799031. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1200229).

An arrangement of The End Of The World,  a song covered by many famous artists. includingThe Carpenters; thanks to the phenomenal singing of Karen Carpenter.  The End of the World was written by composer Arthur Kent and lyricist Sylvia Dee, who often worked as a team.

The Carpenters (officially known as Carpenters were an American vocal and instrumental duo consisting of siblings Karen (1950–1983) and Richard Carpenter (born 1946). They produced a distinctive soft musical style, combining Karen's contralto vocals with Richard's harmonizing, arranging, and composition skills. During their 14-year career, the Carpenters recorded 10 albums along with many singles and several television specials.

Karen possessed a powerful singing voice, and close miking brought out many nuances in her performances.  Richard arranged their music to take advantage of this, though Karen had a three-octave vocal range.  Richard's work with Karen was influenced by the music of Les Paul, whose overdubbing of the voice of wife and musical partner Mary Ford allowed her to be used as both the lead and harmony vocals.[6] By multi-tracking, Richard was able to use Karen and himself for the harmonies to back Karen's lead. The overdubbed background harmonies were distinctive to the Carpenters, but it was the soulful, engaging sound of Karen's lead voice that made them so recognizable.  Record executive Mike Curb said it was Karen's voice that took the Carpenters above straight pop music into pop rock.   She was known as a one take wonder and could deliver a strong performance on the first attempt.

Richard Carpenter was the creative force behind the Carpenters' sound. An accomplished keyboard player, composer and arranger, music critic Daniel Levitin called him one of the most gifted arrangers to emerge in popular music.  The duo's smooth harmonies were not in step with contemporary music, which was dominated by heavy rock.  Instead, the Carpenters strove for a rich and melodic sound, along the same vein as the Beach Boys and the Mamas & the Papas, but with greater fullness and orchestration including frequent use of small string and horn sections and introspective lyrics centred around relationships.  Richard also admired the musicianship and arranging skills of Frank Zappa, and the two briefly met backstage at the Billboard Forum in 1975.

End Of The World: Lyrics:

Why does the sun go on shining?
Why does the sea rush to shore?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
'Cause you don't love me any more

Why do the birds go on singing?
Why do the stars glow above?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when I lost your love

[Bridge]
I wake up in the morning and I wonder
Why everything's the same as it was
I can't understand, no, I can't understand
How life goes on the way it does

Why does my heart go on beating?
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when you said goodbye

Why does my heart go on beating?
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when you
