Piano - Digital Download SKU: RX.9783737803298 Sheet music for piano. Composed by Mulo Francel, Quandro Nuevo. Text language: English. World music. 4 pages. Published by Roba Music Verlag (RX.9783737803298). This song is a travelling song written under the impression of several tours through South and East Europe, the Balkans and around the Black Sea. Dedicated to Jason, the hero of the Greek mythology, it has to be played in a hymnic manner. Jason went on a most adventurous journey to the very outermost coast of the Black Sea with this motley entourage - the Argonauts - in order to seize the Golden Fleece, a gigantic golden ram skin. Just about where the Georgian city of Batumi is today. If you would like to know more about it, you may want to read the chapter “Die Reise nach BatumiĆ¢ā‚¬Ā (The Journey to Batumi) in our roadbook “Quadro Nuevo: Grand Voyage. To every person who is interested in these old myths, I recommend the books of the author and journalist Michael Kohlmeier, for example his amusing interpretations of the Sagen des Klassischen Altertums (Sagas of the classical antiquity). Just East of Batumi the Caucasus begins, with its colourful mixture of ancient peoples and cultures. I have always been fascinated with musicians who originate from this region. For example the composer Aram Katschaturian or the pianist David Gazarov, with whom I often play concerts. An Eastern groove suits this song well, quite comparable to a fast rumba. I suggest you play the intro (may be extended) and the theme (measures 6 to 39) first. Then you may improvise freely over the AABA-form of the theme. The last solo part is shortened because the B-part leads into a percussion solo. This percussion solo may be omited. After the last complete solo part you can repeat the theme and then play the al fine. For Improvisation: On a separate sheet I am offering some scales to the chords of the song in various transpositions, which is helpful as basic material for improvisations. Some chords (like the very first one) fit several different scales. Decide for yourself which one you prefer. Or maybe even make up your own. Even though these notes may sound right with the chords, one thing always holds true in creative music: There should be no dogmatic wrong or right. Sometimes what seems like a wrong note, could give the progression of the melody its special colour, tension and spice. Sometimes an improvisation with exclusive right notes is correct in music theory, but sounds terribly boring. Besides, every improviser is encouraged to happily help themselves to the chromatics. All of this is only a suggestion. Music becomes exciting and colourful when the basic material is interpreted in an imaginative and creative way!

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1241720 Composed by Sarah Baker. 21st Century,Children,Classical,Comedy. Score. 24 pages. Forsyth Brothers Ltd #837056. Published by Forsyth Brothers Ltd (A0.1241720). Suitable for players of around grade 4-5 standard, these evocative sound pieces describe a crash-landing hot air balloon, garden invading cows and a even a snake in a pond!Sarah Baker is Vocal Composer in Residence for Services at Education Music Services, an ABRSM examiner and a well known composer of songs and musicals for primary schools and massed-choral events. All this experience has come together in the creation of this album of piano pieces, inspired by growing up in the Chiltern Hills.Contents:Air Balloon!Buzzards CirclingThere’s a Cow in the Garden Eating the FlowersWatching the World Go ByAutumn SkiesFriendsSnake in the PondMorning CommuteThe Witch's CottageComposer’s NotesAir Balloon! One vivid memory I have as a child is of the day that a hot air balloon passed over our house and made an emergency landing on the road in front! Ā It was both terrifying and exhilarating to watch the balloon float past and then land so near by.Buzzards Circling There is something so calming and restful about watching birds of prey circling in the thermal currents of a summer sky. This piano solo captures the beauty of their flight as they glide so effortlessly through the air. There’s A Cow In The Garden Eating The Flowers Inspired by the memory of seeing an unexpected cow in the garden! This surreal image is captured in a quirky waltz, as I portray both the absurdity of the moment and the sense of wonder I felt as a child. The final phrase articulates my longing: ā€˜I wish it would come again’.Watching The World Go By A short, reflective piece, remembering what it was like to have time to just sit and watch the world go by from my bedroom window.Autumn Skies A miniature about the beauty of Autumn skies and the poignant sense of loss for a summer gone.Friends I was fortunate to have several children of my own age living close by. We seemed to be forever making dens, playing out in the street and generally enjoying each other’s company. This piece reflects that sense of well-being.Snake In The Pond One hot summer I was astonished and scared to see a grass snake cooling off in our garden pond! I watched, both horrified and fascinated, as it rose up from the depths and then disappeared again.Morning Commute I recollect many mornings stuck in traffic as my Dad took me to school on his way to work. We may not have chatted a lot, but it was always good to be together with my Dad, lost in our own thoughts. The Witch’s Cottage My siblings and I had a fascination with a small cottage nearby. It was set back from the road in a dark part of the woods and we called it 'the witch's cottage’. Every time we passed, I imagined I heard the distant cackle of the witch and wished I could catch a glimpse of her. These pieces are written to complement my other collection, Night Time Impressions, which also draw on childhood recollections, particularly of the woods behind the house where I grew up.Sarah Baker2023.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.973026 Composed by Francis Kayali. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score. 26 pages. Francis Kayali #5718759. Published by Francis Kayali (A0.973026). Composed between January and March 2003, the Suite for Piano was written for a recital by pianist Qi Liu (1976-2017), at Stony Brook University, in March of 2003.The opening of the first movement evokes bells, not unlike those in Rachmaninoff’s RusĀsian Easter (the finale of his First Suite for Two Pianos). This is contrasted with a short and murky rising gesture. The middle section incorporates pianistic patterns (some reminiscent of Debussy), a yearning IbeĀrian melody, and a barely-recognizĀable snippet of Chopin used for a climax. The murky gesture eventually returns, introducing a triumphant stateĀment of the opening bells.Early on, I had decided the piece should include references to the other pieces on the reĀcital’s program: Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 18 (op. 31, No. 3) and Brahms’s F minor SoĀnata (op. 5). As soon as I had word from Qi that she was going to play the Beethoven, I immediĀately wanted to hear it. I wasn’t familiar with the piece, and since I didn’t have a score or a reĀcording of it at home, I decided to download it in MIDI format from the internet. Unbeknownst to me, the computer’s rendition transformed the lively secĀond movement scherzo into a slow-moving hymn which reminded me of the Ode to Joy. I was quite surĀprised the next mornĀing when I went to the muĀsic library and listened to a reĀcording played by a human. Nonetheless, I was drawn to the melody, and I found the slow effect interesting, so I deĀcided to base my middle movement (the slow movement) around the theme of BeethoĀven’s scherzo, making it the hidĀden theme for a short set of variations. The end of the movement also contains less direct referĀences to the music of Brahms (very short alluĀsions to the Sonata and to the Variations on a Theme by Haydn). The last movement explores fast and light fingerwork, in a sort of toccata or capriccio, proĀviding a flashy ending to the piece. As in the first movement, the form is A-B-A. Before the return of the first section, a little dance evokes the opening of the piece. (The murky gesture from the first movement also finds its way into this last movement). Each of the three movements experiments at one point with using the sustain pedal in order to create a wash of sound. This effect is used most prominently in the second movement.Movement I: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-NKcs076UIMovement II: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSxkOcdlpiYMovement III: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CntmWYdOA9Y

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.998875 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 2 pages. Robert A. Howard #6383269. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.998875). The Fragment series of short piano pieces was conceived for pianists of almost any standard. As suggested in the title, each piece is based on a single compositional fragment or sketch that had otherwise remained incomplete and dormant. Fragment II initially builds up the notes of a major chord with added augmented fourth, in a brief introduction. The main section of the piece features the simple device of alternating added note harmonies, rocking back and forth like a pendulum. These include an upper pedal on the note A in each chord, landing on A minor around the mid-point. Meanwhile, a slightly unsettling off-beat lower pedal ostinato rings on throughout. Towards the end, the opening chords are alluded to, before settling on reiteration of a resolution on A major. The piece is highly accessible and is appropriate for almost all standards of pianist, including students and more advanced players. Other works from the Fragment cycle are also available via Sheet Music Plus.Duration: 3 minutes 10 seconds.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk
