If you want something different for the piano, this collection is perfect!  It uses the 'double harmonic' scale to give an Arabian feel and provide an exotic sound to the Western ear. The pieces are great for late intermediate level pianists of all ages and would be ideal for projects correlating music with middle Eastern culture. The main theme is the isolation of the desert, represented by 'Nothingness', 'Noon Sun' and 'Oasis'. The Opening 'Golden Sands' and 'Caravan' depict the gently rolling landscape and the presence of camel trains. 'Beledi', 'Scorpion Dance' and 'Gecko Strut' are livelier and dance-like. The use of octaves and unexpected running passages gives a sense of surprise.

A friend of mine, Chad Walker, came to me with the standard sheet music to this piece and asked me to make it harder, fit the hands better, and fill it out.  Much to his delight and chagrin, this is the final result.This piece would be perfect for playing in church, especially during Easter or Pentecost.  It would also be nice for the last Sunday in Epiphany when many liturgical churches say, Goodbye to the word, Hallelujah.The first verse is relatively simple, with a bassline arpeggio that fits the hand nicely.  The chord inversions in the interludes are supposed to represent the angels on Jacob's Ladder.  The second verse is a little more full with some ornamentation.  The third verse culminates in block chords in the right hand with a bassline that alternates between a heartbeat and running feet.www.thequarternotes.com

It is a quiet arrangement of themes often associated with the stillness of night. It begins with a simplified arrangement of Chopin's Berceuse and evolves to Hush Little Baby, Rock-a-bye-Baby and the Brahms's 'Lullaby. I arranged it to keep the themes intact but updated some harmonies.
