Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1468149 By Damien Gauci. By Damien Gauci. Contemporary,New Age. Score. 4 pages. Damien Gauci #1030402. Published by Damien Gauci (A0.1468149). I always enjoy writing something simple but pretty and this piece is exactly that. As with many of my other piano compositions, I enjoy writing them in the style of “soft piano” pieces which you can listen to while you study, work, relax, or anything else. I initially came up with the original motif at the start of the piece which I really liked and expanded it into a full piece. When coming up to the B section I made it too dramatic and it would probably be too distracting for the listener if they were working or studying so I decided to start over with the B section and write something that expanded upon the original motif in a subtle and sweet way.I am quite pleased with the finished composition, it turned out in a way that I was aiming for from the beginning. As for the title, I sat down after I had finished writing the piece and listened to it a few times and brainstormed some names. I eventually settled on the name that it is now: ‘Some Things Don’t Always Last’ which has a bitter-sweet quality to it. I think it fits quite well with the piece as it’s like a lullaby that comes and goes. A distant memory that is recalled because of an old toy you found or because you drove past your childhood home that you grew up in.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1127867 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Chamber,Classical,Folk,Multicultural,World. Score. 9 pages. Philip Le Bas #728476. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1127867). Incidental music composed for piano in four parts by Philip Le Bas to accompany the Japanese folk tale (ghost story) Yuki-Onna (Snow Woman). This work developed out of a cross-cultural project initiated at Morley College, London, in early 2019, aiming to create a melodrama for piano solo and spoken voice to be performed in northern Japan later in the year by young students of the piano. It is based on the ghost-story above, which is widely known in Japan. The tale was transcribed and published by Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo) in 1904 as part of his book “Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things”, a collection that has been highly influential in expressing popular Japanese culture over the past century. Synopsis of the tale of Yuki-Onna: Two wood-cutters, Mosaku and his apprentice Minokichi, encounter a terrible snow-storm and take shelter in an empty hut by a river. The storm gets worse and worse, but they both finally fall asleep. When Minokichi wakes, he sees a woman all in white bending over Mosaku breathing bright white smoke onto his face. She then approaches Minokichi. She is very beautiful, but her eyes make him afraid. After a while she says, “I intended to do the same to you as I did to the old man, but I feel pity for you because you are a pretty young man. If you ever tell anybody what you have seen, however, I will kill you too.” And she vanishes into the snow storm. It is then that Minokichi discovers Mosaku dead on the floor of the hut. Years later Minokichi meets a beautiful girl, who calls herself O-Yuki. He falls in love with her and they live together in his house, along with his mother, who fortunately takes a liking to her new “honourable daughter-in-law.” Over the years O-Yuki gives birth to ten children and the villagers all agree that she is a wonderful person. But she is somehow different from them, as she continues to look young and fresh, despite the passing years. Minokichi often thinks of telling O-Yuki about the events of years ago, and eventually, as he is gazing at her beauty one night, he can resist it no more. He begins to tell her about the snow storm and the terrifying snow-woman. To his horror O-Yuki becomes more and more angry, and she finally says: “It was me, it was me,… and I said I would kill you if you ever told anyone! But for these children asleep here, I would do so this very moment! You had better take very good care of them; for if ever they have reason to complain of you, I will treat you as you deserve!” As she screams at him her voice becomes thin, like the crying of the wind, and she melts into a bright white mist spiraling into the roof-beams. At that moment it starts to snow, but O-Yuki is never seen again.

Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.1014878 Composed by Damien Gauci. Contemporary. Score. 3 pages. Damien Gauci #4633291. Published by Damien Gauci (A0.1014878). I wrote this piece a while back in 2017 and is pretty much the first piece i composed start to finish. I have composed a few more pieces and am currently working on more which I plan on publishing in the future if all goes well. I decided to record this piece and release it to the world finally, so you can listen on Spotify and other streaming services from about a week from this comment.About the piece itself. This piece is called 'Daytime Dreams' and is my very first piece of music I have ever fully composed. I chose this name because it reflects the world we live in as very fast paced and always moving, changing ideas and parts reflect different things happening but the main theme always comes back - the same old daily routine. In the middle of the piece there is a much more calm and relaxed style used which is meant to be the Daytime Dreaming in the midst of everything else; taking a step back from all the 'chaos' in your life. I hope you enjoyed listening!

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1427785 Composed by Gerald W. Gabbard. 21st Century. Score. 6 pages. Gerald W. Gabbard #1008525. Published by Gerald W. Gabbard (A0.1427785). Thank you for your interest in this advanced piano solo piece I composed during the first year of the COVID-19 Pandemic. I found a sense of hope and optimism from performing this light waltz, despite that the vaccine was still many months away at that point and things were looking grim. The waltz is written pretty much in an Intro-A-B-A'-Coda form. While the tempo is listed as “Moderately,” do not play it too quickly. There are some elements of B-flat Lydian interspersed.Regarding articulation: I use tenuto and accent + tenuto marks frequently in my compositions. I tend to use them mostly as indications for the melody and/or notes that should be emphasized or brought out. I never intend the accent + tenuto to be harsh, but it should be stronger than the tenuto alone. This is the first of eight waltzes for piano I composed between September 2020 and April 2024. I intend to have a collection of all eight available for sale in addition to individual pieces. The available recording on Arrange Me and Sheet Music Plus is an export from Finale – not a live performance.  I hope you enjoy playing this piece!  Gerald Gabbard.
