Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1485607 Composed by Charles Dibdin, John Davy, Samuel Arnold, Stephen Storace, Thomas Augustine Arne, Thomas Linley, and William Shield. Arranged by Robert Hoskins. Classical. Score. 130 pages. Artaria Editions #1062672. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1485607). The period 1760-1800 was the golden age of English comic opera. Each of the London playhouses – Covent Garden, Drury Lane and the Little Theatre in the Haymarket – employed a resident composer who wrote for plays, pantomimes, three-act mainpiece operas, and one or two-act afterpieces. Successful premieres were followed up with the publication of piano reductions to satisfy the insatiable home entertainment market. This volume includes overtures by all of the major figures of the period, including Dibdin, Arne, Arnold, Shield, Storace and Davy, whose opera What a blunder! provides the title for this fascinating anthology.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1311113 Composed by George J. Elvey, 1859. Arranged by David Evan Thomas. Classical,Holiday,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Davidevanthomas.com #900085. Published by davidevanthomas.com (A0.1311113). Set to Henry Alford's words, Come, Ye Thankful People, Come is one of the most popular hymns for Thanksgiving. This setting treats the tune as a chorale prelude for piano (or organ), with the tune in the soprano. Hymnary.org tells us that English organist George Job Elvey (1816-1893 ), the composer of the tune, ST. GEORGE'S WINDSOR, was educated at Oxford and at the Royal Academy of Music. At age nineteen Elvey became organist and master of the boys' choir at St. George Chapel, Windsor, where he remained until his retirement in 1882. He was knighted after he provided music for Princess Louise's wedding in 1871.

The melody is Welsh dating back to the sixteenth century, and belongs to a winter carol, Nos Galan, while the English lyrics, written by the Scottish musician Thomas Oliphant, date to 1862.The English-language lyrics were written by the Scottish musician Thomas Oliphant. They first appeared in 1862, in volume 2 of Welsh Melodies, a set of four volumes authored by John Thomas, including Welsh words by John Jones (Talhaiarn) and English words by Oliphant.[2] The repeated fa la la goes back to the earlier Welsh and may originate from medieval ballads.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018000 Arranged by Thomas Stearn. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Folk. Score. 4 pages. THOMAS STEARN #6402141. Published by THOMAS STEARN (A0.1018000). Folksongs are traditional songs of the people, that have been culturally ingrained into civilisation. This arrangement of Scarborough Fair, a well-known English folksong, is the first in my Folksong Echoes’ Series, which attempts to re-imagine traditional folksongs in a more fragmented, but still beautiful way. I use the term ‘fragmented’ because it is essentially the main approach to these arrangements. You will hear glimpses of the tune in the form of melodic motifs, clusters, and sustained resonances, which are beautifully imagined through the sustain pedal of the piano. Overall, these fragments make up ‘echoes’ which allude to the concept of something being there but also not quite being there, a bit like the pieces that make up a jigsaw puzzle.Duration: approximately 3’20’’Composition year: 2021
