Sakamoto studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, where he graduated with a BA in composition, and a Master's degree with special emphasis electronic and ethnic music. Sakamoto began his career in the mid 1970s, working as a composer, arranger and producer with some of Japan's most popular rock, jazz and classical artists. He released his first solo album in 1978 but came to fame as a member of Japanese synth-rock outfit Yellow Magic Orchestra with co-founders Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi. He collaborated with David Sylvian on a number of singles and most of Sylvian's albums. He appeared in the 1983 Nagisa Oshima film Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence alongside British rock singer David Bowie; he also wrote the film's musical score. He won the Academy Award for his score to the 1987 Bernardo Bertolucci film The Last Emperor. He also wrote soundtracks for Pedro Almodovar's film High Heels, and Oliver Stone's Wild Palms. Sakamoto was married to Japanese pianist and singer Akiko Yano, collaborating with her on some of her recordings. Early Morning: New York Skyline (Hommage à Philip Glass) was written for the French pianist Nicolas Horvath, an untiring champion of New Music and noted performer of Philip Glass’ piano music. The work was written for a series of concerts in honor of Glass that Horvath will perform in a number of capitals, beginning at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France in March, 2014.The work begins with an ostinato-figure in the right-hand, which should be played at the same;dynamic and absolutely in rythmn thourhout the work. In the left-hand, two motives are presented with slightly different rhythmic contexts, the lower motif which gradually becomes more present and the higher motive which grandually becomes more and more distant. The sustain pedal should be used throughout the work and the ressonance should be allowed to ring at the end.

Dora PejaÄ�ević, born in Budapest in 1885 and died in Munich in 1923, was a composer of the Croatian noble family.This Ouverture en ré mineur pour grand orchestre is one of her fascinating collection of works that allow for deep expression through the use of harmony that sometimes pushes the limits, as is typical around the beginning of the 20th century.This piano reduction was commissioned by the Japan Croatia Music Society and was completed in August 2021, and premiered in Tokyo on 18 September by the great pianist Mr. Tomohiro Adachi.Arranger Yuki Hasegawa, biography Arranger, pianist, conductor and producer. She completed the department of piano at the Kunitachi College of Music, and the departments of chamber music, eÌ�criture musicale and orchestration at the Conservatoire SupeÌ�rieur de Paris-CNR. She also studied eÌ�criture musicale at the CNSM-Lyon. She studied under Profs. Alain Louvier, Bernard de Crépy and other representative professors in France in terms of composition and arrangement.
