Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.914966 Composed by Jules Massenet. Arranged by ROBERT VAN HORNE. Classical,Instructional,Opera,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 8 pages. White Piano International Publishing #6260949. Published by White Piano International Publishing (A0.914966). Meditation by Jules MassenetTranscribed For Solo Piano by Robert Van HorneAdvanced Intermediate Piano  8 Pages In 1995, I was asked to perform MEDITATION at a concert. It was this request that prompted me to transcribe this alluring and hauntingly emotional work for piano.  Although traditionally performed by violinists or other instruments as a solo piece with orchestra, in this new piano transcription of MEDITATION, I have tried to capture the beauty and sensitivity of the melody and harmonies written by Massenet in 1894 for his opera Thaïs.  This new transcription is clearly notated with dynamic marks, phrasing, suggested fingerings, and appropriate musical terms for playing.  This piano transcription is a wonderful recital and encore piece for professionals and students.  A YouTube video of Robert's performance is available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAhT1ASrH18

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1041503 Composed by Gabrielle Felicita Chen. Contest,Festival,Folk,Holiday,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score. 9 pages. Gabrielle Felicita Chen #646246. Published by Gabrielle Felicita Chen (A0.1041503). “L’amore di Kebo Iwa†simply means ‘the Love of Kebo Iwa’ , which is inspired from Indonesian Balinese folk music. It is usually played by the instruments called Gamelan. Bali is an island in Indonesia rich with cultural traditions that are very much rooted in myths and legends. After understanding deeper of the legend of “Kebo Iwaâ€, I was so drawn to the character and the plot that I decided to tell the story in my piano composition. I was able to use different kinds of musical techniques to express different moods. One of them is to apply the Pentatonic ‘Balinese Pelog’ Scale in B flat Major, which represents the majority of the Gamelan sound that is usually transcribed into Western notations. Below is the synopsis the “L’amore di Kebo Iwaâ€. A Once upon a time, in Bali, there was a husband and a wife who dearly wanted to have a baby. They prayed to God for a very long time. Finally, God heard their prayers and blessed them with a baby boy. But there was something special about this baby boy: he was very big- a giant baby. They named him Kebo Iwa. Kebo Iwa grew up with a good heart and became a gentleman. He was a kind hearted giant; he protected the village dearly. One day, the King of Majapahit from Java wanted to conquer Bali. He had heard about Kebo Iwa and knew that his army would lose to Kebo Iwa. B Therefore, the King of Majapahit tricked Kebo Iwa. He invited Kebo Iwa to Java island, promising that he would arrange a wedding for Kebo Iwa to marry his daughter, the beautiful Majapahit princess. Kebo Iwa was so in love with the princess, so he happily travelled to Java island. C After he arrived in Java, the King of Majapahit asked a favour from Kebo Iwa to dig a well, with the reason for it being the dry season. Kebo Iwa then sincerely gave some help and started digging a big, giant well. D However, the King Majapahit never meant to deliver his promise to Kebo Iwa. Instead, the King Majapahit commanded the troops to cover the well with mud and boulders. But when Kebo Iwa realized, it was too late. He was already in the position that was far too deep below - at the bottom of the well. Kebo Iwa then cried loudly and sadly with a broken heart until his last breath. He was buried alive. Soon after that, the Majapahit troops attacked and conquered Bali. E At last, the well was covered and grew a hill of flowers. To this day, the Bali villagers still remember Kebo Iwa as their hero. To honor him, they erected a giant statue of Kebo Iwa in Gianyar, Bali, as a memorial.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1477540 By Traditional. By Traditional. Arranged by Martin Hay. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Historic,Traditional. Score. 1 pages. Martin Hay #1054930. Published by Martin Hay (A0.1477540). St. Matthew Psalms music is a rich and enduring tradition that blends sacred texts with harmonious melodies to create a profound spiritual experience. Rooted in the biblical Psalms, these musical compositions are often performed in church services, liturgical settings, and religious ceremonies, emphasizing themes of praise, worship, and reflection. The music typically features choral arrangements, sometimes accompanied by organ or orchestral instruments, which enhance the emotive and contemplative nature of the Psalms. Martin Hay has transcribed this music for piano, making it more accessible for personal devotion and performance. This piano transcription allows for a more intimate interpretation, enabling individuals to explore the depth and beauty of St. Matthew Psalms music in a solo instrumental format. The legacy of St. Matthew Psalms music spans centuries, with adaptations and interpretations by various composers, each adding unique nuances while preserving the core essence of the Psalms' devotional spirit. This tradition continues to inspire and uplift congregations, offering a timeless connection to the sacred scriptures through the universal language of music.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1284416 Composed by Michael Praetorius. Arranged by Dan McCoy. Baroque,Chamber,Early Music,Folk,Renaissance. Score. 3 pages. Dan McCoy #875587. Published by Dan McCoy (A0.1284416). Ballet des Coqs, or Rooster Dance, is from a collection called Terpsichore, which is a compendium of more than 300 instrumental dances published in 1612 by the German composer Michael Praetorius. In his introduction, Praetorius takes credit for arranging the music rather than composing the tunes. The collection is based on French dance repertoire of the time and contains some notes that relate to instrumentation. However, Praetorius does not specify which instruments should play particular parts. This was one of my favourite Praetorius pieces, and so I transcribed it in order that it might be played at the keyboard without having to read the original publication with its five parts, varied clefs and difficult notation.
