This is one of those songs that every senior citizen over the age of 75 in the USA and Canada will know and probably be able to supply all the words. These songs are from a different era - a time before computers and even before tv's, when people would ofter have get-togethers of one kind or another - picnics sometimes - and sing for entertainment. Good voices and not-so-good voices all joined happily together for fun. People often harmonized with these songs. A bygone time. This lovely little piece is for my cousin Angela with love and for the great memories of our childhood days when we had many innocent adventures together in her home village of Llwydcoed near Aberdare in South Wales. 

Despite having no money, life was free and a great adventure - playing in the parks and on the slag heaps (tips) created by the coal mines. There was little traffic to worry about and all the people were kind and friendly. If we did have a few pennies, we’d perhaps share a ‘Wagon Wheel’ which used to be at least three times the size that they are now and cost 3d (just over 1p). If we were really flushed and had 6d (2.5p), we’d buy a tube of ‘Smarties’ and then float the empty tube down the stream.

This piece requires a 76 note (6 octaves) keyboard. I would rate this as MODERATELY DIFFICULT.

La Minga is a native Quechua term for coming together to help each other.  Inspired by personal observance of the Ecuadorian Quechua people performing La Minga in a small village in the Andes after heavy rains caused substantial flooding, this piece was written.

Lullaby La Minga is a relaxing piece for easy listening and has Spanish tones incorporated by the use of triplets throughout the composition.  It is a lovely addition to any arrangement or occasion and a joy to play as the continuous melody carries through to the end of the piece.  Level of difficulty is intermediate.

Glorious Celebration, 3 pages, is an intermediate piece in the key of D, is the eighth piece from a fairy tale suite of 8 pieces entitled The Kingdom of Light.  This work tells the story of a beautiful kingdom where the people are always singing and dancing. A place with glorious sunsets and sparkling seashores, with no evil lurking anywhere...until one day the Dark Knight arrives. Can the Prince save his lovely Princess? Can peace and safety be restored once more?   For individual student enjoyment as well as for recital programs. The recordings have narration and character voice overs followed by the piano piece that tells the story. Churches can use this for religious purposes as this can be allegorical in nature.

The solo, Glorious Celebration, is in 4/4  time, is an exultant reprisal with some changes, of the village dance from Joyful News! Students with small hands can play single notes instead of octaves when necessary.
