White Christmas is an Irving Berlin song reminiscing about an old-fashioned Christmas setting. The song was written by Berlin for the musical film Holiday Inn, released in 1942. The composition won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 15th Academy Awards. Since its release, White Christmas has been covered by multiple artists, with the version sung by Bing Crosby being the world's best-selling single (in terms of sales of physical media) with estimated sales in excess of 50 million copies worldwide. When the figures for other versions of the song are added to Crosby's, sales of the song exceed 100 million. A must have in your repertoire!

Irving Berlin wrote â??White Christmasâ?� in the early 1940s, reminiscing about an old-fashioned Christmas setting. Bing Crosby made this song famous, and his single has been credited with selling 50 million copies, the most by any release. Even the Guinness Book of World Records lists Crosbyâ??s song as a 100-million seller, encompassing all versions of the song, including albums. The song was even made into a movie, under the same name, starring Bing Crosby together with Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen.

Accounts vary as to when and where Berlin wrote the song. One story is that he wrote it on the poolside at the Biltmore hotel in Phoenix, Arizona. He often stayed up all night writing â?? he told his secretary, â??Grab your pen and take down this song. I just wrote the best song Iâ??ve ever written â?? heck, I just wrote the best song that anybodyâ??s ever written!â?�

Whatever the origins may be, â??White Christmasâ?� is a long-time cherished Christmas favorite.

Whispering was most famously recorded by Paul Whiteman and his Ambassador Orchestra on August 23, 1920, for the Victor Talking Machine Company.  His version was an eleven-week  No.1 hit in the United States, which stayed 20 weeks in the charts, and sold in excess of two million copies.  

In 2020, Whiteman's rendition was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.

This popular standard song recorded by vocalist Nat King Cole in 1951 sold a million records. He considered it one of his favorites and it was number one on the Billboard Charts for many weeks.

I was inspired to create this piano arrangement of TOO YOUNG for my dear friends Evelyn and Carlo who celebrate their wedding anniversary on September 1, 2021. It was their song 65 years ago. 

This intermediate piano solo arrangement is written in the key of C; not the original key, but one that may be easier for some piano students. It is clearly and carefully notated with dynamic marks, phrasing, suggested fingerings, pedal indications, chord identifications and appropriate musical terms for playing.

The left hand sometimes incorporates arpeggiated patterns made up of 9ths while the right hand utilizes traditional chords and intervals with a touch of jazz harmony.

This piano arrangement sounds artistic and impressive, a wonderful selection, ideal for teaching, recitals and enjoyment.

As with my debut album, “Journey - Twelve Romances for Piano�, my interest in the connection of music and colour to paint different moods and styles is explored here in Sky Blue Piano. The colour sky blue is a bright uplifting one, and whilst writing the pieces I felt that using this in the title was the right balance between perhaps a joyous yellow and a sombre grey. The twelve pieces here were all written especially for this album. There are a couple that are based on melodies written some time ago but now, with fresh ears, they have been developed and completed for this second album.
