Das Bach-Buch fur Klavierspieler enthalt uberwiegend Stucke von Johann Sebastian Bach; daneben zwei oder drei von seinen Sohnen. Die Sammlung wurde 1925 erstmals veroffentlicht. Ziel der Ausgabe war es schon damals, den originalen Notentext wiederzugeben; befreit von den haufig ublichen unkommentierten Eingriffen und Zusatzen der Herausgeber. Sie gab damit den Urtext wieder soweit es die damalige Quellenlage zuliess. Diese Neuausgabe erfolgt in unveranderter Reihenfolge der Stucke aber unter Berucksichtigung der Erkenntnisse der neueren Bach-Forschung, wie sie z.B. im Werkverzeichnis von Wolfgang Schmieder 1990 oder in den Banden der neuen Bach-Ausgabe dokumentiert sind. Die zweite Auflage der Ausgabe enthielt weiterhin eine ausfuhrliche Abhandlung zur Verzierungstechnik der Bach-Zeit, die weit uber den eingentlichen Inhalt der Ausgabe hinausging. Darauf wurde in der Neuausgabe verzichtet; an ihrer Stelle soll lediglich eine Ubersicht der verwendeten Verzierungszeichen und ihre mogliche Ausfuhrung stehen.

Obs.: This piece is probably the easiest composition in Bach's Well-Tempered Klavier.
The Prelude appears also in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach (1725). This notebook was filled with favorite selections of the members of the Bach family.
There is also a slightly different version of this prelude, known as Prelude BWV 846A, in the Klavierbüchlein für Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. Bach's Prelude BWV 846 consists of a simple progression of arpeggiated chords. It is one of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous compositions for the keyboard.
Some sources show a trill of the last E of measure 34. If playing this trill, be sure to start it on the upper auxiliary note.
This piece served as the inspiration for Gounod's Ave Maria.

Prelude and Fugue in E minor, BWV 855, is the 10th prelude and fugue for keyboard (harpsichord) in the first book of The Well Tempered Clavier, composed in 1722 by Johann Sebastian Bach. The Prelude in E minor, BWV 855a, features as No. 18 (Praeludium 5) in the 1720 Klavierbüchlein für Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. BWV 855a may also refer to both this Prelude and a Fughetta in the same key, an early version of BWV 855.

Ólafsson teamed up with director Magnús Leifsson to shoot the video in a fish processing plant in Iceland, complete with grand piano. They use the fish, an early Christian symbol, to allude to the mysticism and timelessness of Bach’s music – as changeable as water, it has to be understood at a metalevel, given the many different ways in which composition, transcription and performance can be interwoven. Everything is there in Bach’s music, says the pianist, who transports the composer’s keyboard writing to new shores on his latest recording. Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson releases video featuring music from his new album, Johann Sebastian Bach.
