Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862537 Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2033827. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862537). Darius Milhaud was NOT a member of the insider's group of Old Guard French composers, epitomized by Debussy and Ravel. Ravel had usupred Debussy's place as the pre-eminent modernist, and he rightly understood it was the duty of the next generation to rebel against his own work, and find their own ways and voices. Hence, Les Six was formed to accomplish this, just as Ravel's Les Apaches, ( not a Native American meaning, but a general reference to being musical warriors) had, by turns, admired, undermined, and then surpassed Debussy. The music here uses Milhaud's best-known contribution to modernity, bi-tonality. It takes the form of arpeggiated augmented major 7th chords played against each other: as the relationship between the chords comes to the tritone, each iteration slows down, but only to De-Emphasize the stark contrast, rather than bring it out. A second section uses mirrored, symmetrical patterns in each hand. The finale concludes with plain triads juxtaposed in a bi-tonal fashion, with the same contrary motion towards the tritone using a ritard and diminuendo. Approx. running time is 4 mins 30 secs. Easy to play, easy to read, not as easy to hear! Pedaling is fully indicated throughout. Debussy never used bi-tonality, and Ravel hinted at it a few times, but it was Milhaud's stock-in-trade. We'll see you on the Roof, with the Cows! Thanks for listening to ( and buying, and playing?! )these three updated French bon-bons. MBB.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1030831 Composed by Michael C. Brown. 20th Century,Romantic Period. Score. 23 pages. Michael C. Brown #4051. Published by Michael C. Brown (A0.1030831). This piece celebrates the life and mourns the loss of my granddaughter, Paisley Gladys Hogan, who was but 2 months old when she was called to Heaven. These are the words I wrote just before her funeral.... I. The Presence - She was here. I held her the day she was born. I held her and watched her smile at me less than 24 hours before she departed. She only knew love. No one around her ever showed her anything else that humanity had to offer; like hatred, heartache, pain, control, or anger. II. The Shock - She feels a Hand beckon her to leave her mortal coil, and she enters into a world we cannot yet reach.. With no one home, her former body ceases to wake. The unimaginable has happened and we struggle to reverse it. Finally, it becomes clear that we cannot. She sees us cry and she wonders what is happening. Having never known sorrow, she only sees that love didn't cause this response. She wants to comfort us with the love she knows, but we do not yet sense it. III. The Questions - One word has confounded mankind from its creation; Why? We have never found an acceptable answer. We ask, Why did this happen? and What did I do? and What didn't we do right? and Why couldn't it have been me? among others. We only know that her absence has carved holes in our hearts shaped like her. She tries to tell us, You can still love me. I just cannot be seen by you now. It does not mean your love cannot make me happy. I still want it. I still feel it. Please feel my love for you. IV. Letting Go - The day comes to bid farewell to the vehicle by which she came to us. We struggle to cope that we will see her face no more except in pictures. Because of the brevity of her life, memories are few to relive, but to do so is to recall happiness. In sorrow, we return her to the earth. All that is left is to return to recall, to talk to her, to bring flowers and other gifts, and to await the day we follow her. V. Remembering - The days and years follow. Normalcy slowly sets back into our lives. The holes in our hearts will never fully heal. But the salve of her love and her memory help to soothe the ache. We still return to where we placed her mortal home, where we laugh and cry in tandem, where our hearts ache to fill the void left by her departure. It will never really get better, but it will become easier for her love to dull the sting of her absence. VI. The Reunion - One by one, we will feel the same Hand bid us to come. The same events will befall those left behind each time. One by one, she will greet us as we reunite with her. We marvel at how she has stayed with us as we stay to comfort those we had just bidden farewell. The rest cannot be imagined by we that remain..........

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1373611 Composed by Adoniram J. Gordon, Frederick H. Lehman, Traditional, and William B. Bradbury. Arranged by Amanda Tero. Christian,Holiday,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. Score. 29 pages. Amanda Tero #957915. Published by Amanda Tero (A0.1373611). Do you need Valentine's Hymns for church services in February? These 5 hymns cover God's love to us, Jesus's love to us, and our love to Him.Written in the key of C, these 5 early intermediate piano solos have simple patterns that are easy for the intermediate pianist to sightread. These early intermediate hymn solos are equivalent to most Level 2 and 3 curricula.Ideal for church services (especially in February), Valentine’s banquets, conferences, recitals, and more!Arranged to be simple yet tasteful in style. Here is all the information you’ll need to decide if this collection of early intermediate sheet music is the level you’re looking for:·         All in the Key of C (What Wondrous Love is This? is in A Dorian—no accidentals in key signature)·         No key changes·         Basic format: intro, verse/chorus, interlude, verse/chorus, ending·         2 verses each·         Single-note melody in the right hand (brief LH melody in The Love of God)·         Mostly broken 5ths and triads in the left hand·         Repetitive patterns for easy learning·         Similar chords between verses·         Note reading up to 2 ledger lines·         Rhythm not faster than eighth notes·         Just 1 page turn each (exception: Oh, How I Love Jesus has 2) Jesus Loves Me is an old favorite, often seen as a “children’s song.” However, the words to this hymn of love are just as important for adults as for children. While a simple arrangement, this is not a childish sounding arrangement.·         Features an “echo” melody written 8va·         Left hand in treble clef for portions·         Ends with hand crossing My Jesus, I Love Thee begins unexpectedly with colorful chords that finally release tension into a calm first verse. There are slight jazz textures in this arrangement but also classical elements with scales and Alberti bass.·         Rich chord textures (just a hint of jazz/dissonance)·         Accidentals·         Right hand scales (ascending & descending) Oh, How I Love Jesus is a cheerful arrangement with just a hint of cinematic-style melodies. The chords are very similar between verse 1 and 2 in this arrangement, making it especially easy for the pianist to learn.·         6/8 meter·         Cinematic elements·         Chords repeat: open 5ths and 6ths or filled in triads/chords The Love of God starts with left hand melody, making this different from all the other arrangements. The goal is for this to be a seamless melody transition between the hands while the non-melody hand supports at a slightly lower volume.·         Left hand melody for part·         Right hand chords for part·         Left hand repeats in different octaves for broader sound What Wondrous Love is This? is a haunting conclusion to the collection. It is predominantly arranged with open 5ths in the left hand and repeating patterns in the right hand. It ends with slow, four-note chords that are very hymn-like.·         A Dorian mode·         Very easy left hand (repeating open 5ths)·         Sounds harder than it really is.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828262 Composed by Anonymous. Arranged by Paul Thurmond. 20th Century,Baroque,Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Paul Thurmond #4969093. Published by Paul Thurmond (A0.828262). Tune: PUER NOBIS NASCITURUse: Prelude, PostludeThis is an Epiphany hymn that I set in the style of Handel's harpsichord variations. I recorded it on harpsichord, but it also works great on a piano. The theme is stated plainly. The first variation adds running eighth notes in the right hand. The second variations switches the eighth notes to the left hand, and changes the harmony a bit.The third variation adds triplets in the right hand, while the left hand plays the same pattern over and over, a technique known as a ground bass. In the recording, I play it using the lute stop. The fourth variation is a sarabande, a slow dance in triple meter with frequent emphasis on the second beat of the measure. The fifth and final variation states the melody in octaves in the left hand, while the right hand goes crazy with sixteenth notes. The first eight measures of the right hand are inverted and modified to form the second eight measures.I had a lot of fun writing this. I hope you have as much fun playing it.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.750192 Arranged by Bradley Sowash Music. Christian,Christmas,Gospel,Jazz,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Bradley Sowash #6135373. Published by Bradley Sowash (A0.750192). They'll think you're improvisingArranged in a Gospel style complete with all the frills including bluesy right–hand embellishments, big left-hand octave runs, sudden stops, and dramatic dynamics. Originally part of a Winter Hymns collection, now available as a single sheet.Musical Map:Right from the start, they will know this isn't a traditional Christmas instrumental. A fully notated jazz solo will have them wondering whether you are improvising. Then it's back to the melody as it modulates from Bb major to G Major. But it's short lived with the energy lifting once more to C major… before winding down to what seems will be a predictable ending. But wait, a deceptive ending cadence holds back that final tonic chord just a bit longer. Don't be surprised to find your listeners unconsciously moving to the deliciously irresistible down home groove.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1125796 By Michael Swedberg. By Traditional Spiritual. Arranged by Terrence Niska. Christmas,Contemporary,Holiday. Score. 8 pages. Niska Music Publishing #726536. Published by Niska Music Publishing (A0.1125796). One of the more technically demanding preludes in this set, it is a definite workout for the right hand as it is nonstop triplets from beginning to end. Not only must the wrist remain loose, but the melody is contained in the right hand amidst the steady torrent of sixteenth note triplets. There is also a wonderful two measure hemiola figure where the meter seems to shift temporarily before returning to the established meter. The exuberance and excitement of the good news of Christ’s birth is the driving force behind this arrangement. Symphonic in its conception, the pianist needs to keep that in mind as they bring all the forces of the orchestra to bear. There are instances of brass chords, swirling string lines, singing woodwinds and thundering timpani, sometimes happening all at the same time. A tour de force and an excellent concert finale!

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1427036 By Billy Williams. By Fred E. Ahlert and Joe Young. Arranged by Martyn Clive Johnson (aka Martycli Piano Guy). 20th Century,Broadway,Comedy,Jazz,Musical/Show,Ragtime. Score. 8 pages. Martyn Johnson #1007767. Published by Martyn Johnson (A0.1427036). My arrangement is a tribute to the old Fat's Waller recording. It's not copied from that rendition at all but I have arranged it as a stride piano piece and hope it exudes some of the joy that Mr Waller brought to it.I take it through three iterations in C, Db and D major, going up a semi-tone each time - so plenty of practice in trickier keys.I don't include dynamics in my notation nor fingering and pedalling as I prefer to leave these to the discretion of the individual pianist. You will never get two piano teachers to agree on these things. I like to give the reader the notes as simply as possible and leave the interpretation up to them. Similarly with voicings - some notes will be held longer instinctively by the pianist than others and do not need to be placed in separate voicings to make them difficult to read. The stride piano left hand often contains 10ths which can be too large a span for some pianists. The solution is to roll them or to just play them as a single bass note on the root of the chord or as an octave. This is a wonderfully joyous piece and I hope you get as much pleasure from learning and playing it as I did arranging it.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.966505 Composed by Stuart Sosnoski. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 3 pages. Stuart Sosnoski #2881239. Published by Stuart Sosnoski (A0.966505). It’s Phrygian Out There uses the sound of the E Phrygian scale to suggest a snowstorm.  Uncommon in the early intermediate levels, the Phrygian scale helps students envision a snowstorm and to control the piece accordingly.  Feathered beaming in measure two is also a technique not commonly found in early intermediate piano solos however, my students are very capable of understanding and performing them, foreshadowing, and teaching, higher level techniques.  In the B section, the melody on the right hand is double voiced.  Once again, a technique not commonly found on this level but one easily understood and performed by my students.  It’s Phrygian Out There is well liked in my studio and I am sure your students will enjoy it fully.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.816740 By John Legend. By John Stephens and Toby Gad. Arranged by Bryan Kujawa. R & B,Soul. Score. 3 pages. Bryan Kujawa #3578507. Published by Bryan Kujawa (A0.816740). A new 2018 arrangement of John Legend's hit All of Me. YouTube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNw5kSGN7Bo (sorry for average recording). This is an intermediate piano version. Please note right away it is not the entire song. It ends after the chorus. This is to give the intermediate player the enjoyment of performing this arrangement but only a segment, perfect for a recital. This arrangement was written in mind for the intermediate player. It is in the key of C major so that for most of the song the player can be played in C position (right hand), while the thumb moves a few steps down occasionally. Most of the left hand chords are in root position. Those not in root position were purposefully written that way so the player wouldn't have to jump around so much in the left hand. The highest note in the arrangement is third space C (treble clef right hand) and C below the staff (bass clef left hand). Arrangement DOES contain lyrics and is 53 measures long. Arrangement by professional musician/composer/arranger/educator https://www.bryankujawa.com/.
