She told me over an overseas call that she was my number one fan and joked that she wanted to be the president of a fan club she was going to start up for me.But then not long afterward, she passed away-more than 13,000 kilometres away from me.I just composed this very sad piano piece to commemorate her life, which she had dedicated to Christ in His sufferings too. I'm sure she will hear this too from wherever she is. I did ask her, when she was still alive, to let God hear all my works when she gets to heaven. She said she would. Maybe that's where my fan club will be set up, among the angels!Those who were by her death bed recount that she twitched slightly on her last breath, and at the next instant a smile of deliverance showed up on her face!Please play the piece and try to decipher the hidden meanings behind each section. Towards the end of the piece, she falls into Jesus' lap and ... on the very last note, everything that she was hoping for came true. NO MORE PAIN!P.S. This is a large scale Tryptich, inspired by Debussy's Suite pour le Piano.It was begun in 2021 and it kept being re-written till 2023.I dedicate this Tryptich to the loving memory of the great American Pianistand pedagoge Mr. Beveridge Webster, who was my last teacher at Juilliard.The first piece is a Prelude, playful but not too carefree, the dance-like atmosphere gets interrupted several times by a serious, contemplativeChorale-like passage.The second piece, Nocturno-Fantasia is a desolated landscape of pain and despair,a reflection of the harsh times the human family has had to endure these last three years.The last movement, is a large-Scale Toccata in the Phrygian Mode, usingirregular time signatures.This Toccata must be played in strict tempo, to highlight those irregular rhythms.Dies Irae is referenced in both the second and third movements, discreetly, just beneath the surface.This Cycle of three can be performed as a unit, or as three separate pieces.It is designed to give virtuosi a new warhorse for competitions, certainlythe Toccata.I do believe this Toccata has great technical value for pianists as an Etude in articulationand rhythm.Beyond this, I hope that this music will express a wide range of human sufferings and aspirations, and that it will deliver an emotional catharsis for all potential listeners.With this composition I am joining the large group of composers who have created New Music these last few years, music testifying to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

McCartney had been staying on Long Island when the category-three storm Hurricane Bob that made landfall had hit in August 1991. This made McCartney sit with an acoustic guitar and write what he describes as a gentle love song that becomes a 1960s protest song. The song was co-produced by George Martin and McCartney, being started, finished, and mixed within a single session on 3 September 1992 in Sussex, England. It is the earliest recording on Flaming Pie. Around the time of the release of the album, McCartney's Wife of nearly 30 years, Linda, was suffering from breast cancer and sadly passed away 7 months later. The music video also portrays this with shots of the two of them together in her last days. Put simply, the song, lyrics, melody are for her and trying to tell the story of how the two of them were destined to love each other forever.
