William Byrd (birth date variously given as c.1539/40 or 1543 – 4 July 1623), was an English composer of the Renaissance. He wrote in many of the forms current in England at the time, including various types of sacred and secular polyphony, keyboard (the so-called Virginalist school), and consort music. Although he produced sacred music for Anglican services, sometime during the 1570s he became a Roman Catholic and wrote Catholic sacred music later in his life.

Libera me, Domine written for five voices is a great example of his work and transcribes well for clarinet quintet.

Tomás Luis de Victoria (c.1548-1611) wrote his Ave Maria for a double chorus of eight voices.

The piece transcribes beautifully for clarinet ensemble. Scored here for clarinet octet, it is a lovely example of Renaissance Music.

Antonín Leopold Dvořák was one of the first Czech composers to achieve worldwide recognition. Dvořák frequently employed rhythms and other aspects of the folk music of Moravia and his native Bohemia, following the Romantic-era nationalist example of his predecessor Bedřich Smetana.
