If one asked have you heard of Alexandre Tansman? to a 100 people (... who are presumably none pianists!), the answer would probably be mostly 'no'.
Tansman left us in 1986 with a body of work that is diverse and inventive, reflecting on a long and complicated life. His biography of his good friend Igor Stravinsky is still the 'go to' book on the subject.
This little taster of Tansmans music was of course written for piano, however opening up the score for Clarinet Sextet reveals all kinds of possibilities.
This arrangement is in 7 very short movements, hopefully leaving the listener wanting more!!
