I was encouraged to transcribe them for concert band by the conductor of the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band, and subsequently for clarinet choir for Clarinet Fusion, an ensemble that has performed many of my works. This arrangement includes a percussion obligato and a basset clarinet part as an alternate for the alto clarinet voice. The sound bite is The Bitcoin Rag.

The song has been an international hit. This arrangement is just so that people who love the song can play it.  I will admit that it is repetitious, but it's just a catchy tune! Scored for clarinet choir - 3 Bb, alto, bass, and contrabass clarinets. If your choir doesn't have a contrabass, then it can be substituted by another bass, or any Bb instrument in a similar range, but it is a part that needs to be covered, as it has important (but quite simple) bass lines.  There are 2 body percussion parts that are quite simple, but particularly important.  It's a stomp and clap (or snap).  You could also use 2 different drums, buckets, etc.  Substitute a low pitch for the stomp and a higher one for the clap. Duration: 3 minutes.

It is same musical type as a riff in rock music or a loop. This montuno for clarinets is a deep dive into the rhythm, the simple chord sequence, and sometimes complex combinations all within a series of 4 bar phrases. The rhythm is the 2/3 clave pattern heard in the percussion part. In case someone in the group is so inclined to provide a solo melody, chords are provided. As delightful as that would be, the variety already written in the montuno is sufficient.
