Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.841364 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, Samuel Arnold, and William H. Cummings. Arranged by Michele Galvagno. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 18 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #6098157. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.841364). This year's Christmas publication choice fell on a song very dear to me: Hark! The herald angels sing. The text, inspired by Luke’s Gospel (2:14), appears for the first time in a collection of Christmas carols called Hymns and Sacred Poems in 1739, jointly written by Charles Wesley (1707-1788 ) and George Whitefield (1714-1770), two of the founding members of the Methodist movement. The version we know today is the one adapted by William H. Cummings (1831-1915) from the section Vaterland, in deinen Gauen of the Festgesang zum Gutenbergfest, WoO 9, by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847). The story, however, is more complex and articulated than that. The original version of the text, written by Wesley, bearing the title Hymn for Christmas-Day, had received only slow and solemn music for its verses, music now almost completely discarded. Also, his original opening lines were Hark! How all the welkin rings / Glory to the King of Kings .The version that has been passed to us is the result of alterations made by different hands, especially those of Whitefield, who changed the initial couplet into the one we know today. In 1840-one hundred years after the publication of Hymns and sacred Poems-Mendelssohn composed a cantata commemorating Johann Gutenberg’s invention of movable-type printing. The English musician William H. Cummings finally adapted Mendelssohn’s music around 1855 in order to fit the music to the verses and give it its present look.In this edition we propose the version that every listener expects to hear when reading the title on the programme and, immediately after, one of the few original versions that have reached us in their entirety, that is the one set to music by Samuel Arnold (1740-1802) and available today in The British Minstrel, and Musical and Literary Miscellany, vol. 3, published in 1843.The proposed instrumentations are those of the classical string quartet and the cello quartet. Both variants are very simple to perform and are certainly suitable for small string ensembles formed in musical schools. In the cello quartet version, the only relatively complex part is that of the first cello, which should be left to the teacher or to a student able to play up to the 7th position without excessive troubles.I hope this music can bring you the serenity that made me prepare it.

4 cellos - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6424 From the Ballet The Tales of Hoffmann. Composed by Gerd Natschinski. This edition: score and parts. Cello Library. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 3 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6424. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6424). This nostalgic 'Pas de deux' comes from the ballet 'Hoffmanns Erzählungen' by the composer Gerd Natschinski. Composed very melodiously, not difficult to play and still revealing the pleasant harmony of Jacques Offenbach, the piece allows all four cellists to sing their 'espressivo. It is the ideal addition to a violoncello ensemble concert, enthusing both performers and audience alike. As early as the age of 20, Natschinski gave concerts in Leipzig with his own entertainment orchestra and conducted his own arrangements and compositions on the radio. As creator of unforgettable evergreens for concert and stage performances, such as the musical 'Mein Freund Bunbury', he is one of the most successful German composers of upmarket popular music.

For the song, Sting received the 1983 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. The song is considered to be both the Police's and Sting's signature song, and in 2010 was estimated to generate between a quarter and a third of Sting's music publishing income. In the 1983 Rolling Stone critics' and readers' poll, it was voted Song of the Year. In the US, it was the best-selling single of 1983 and fifth-best-selling single of the decade. Billboard ranked it as the No. 1 song for 1983.In May 2019, Every Breath You Take was recognized by BMI as being the most played song in radio history. With nearly 15 million radio plays, Sting received a BMI Award at a ceremony held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills to mark it being the Most Performed Song in BMI’s catalogue, a distinction previously held since 1999 by Mann and Weill’s You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'. BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill stated: For the first time in 22 years, BMI has a new top song in our repertoire with Sting’s timeless hit ‘Every Breath You Take,’ a remarkable achievement that solidifies its place in songwriting history. The song ranked No. 84 on the Rolling Stone list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and is included in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. It also ranked number 25 on Billboard's Hot 100 All-Time Top Songs. In 2008, Q magazine named it among the top 10 British Songs of the 1980s. Small Ensemble Bassoon,Cello,Double Bass - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887013 Composed by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky. Arranged by James Brady. 20th Century,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 7 pages. James Brady Music #5709911. Published by James Brady Music (A0.887013). This arrangement of the opening of Mussorgsky's best-known work is ideally suited as an opening or closing statement piece for a group of 4 early-intermediate cellos (or basses, with one with a C extension) or other bass clef instruments. It stays true to the original piece with adaptations in range for developing players and an adapted ending better suited for standalone performance. The estimated duration of the performance is 1m 30s.Pictures at an Exhibition is a suite of pieces for piano based on pictures by Mussorgsky's friend Viktor Hartmann, who died suddenly in 1873, aged 39. A memorial exhibition of Hartmann's works was staged in St. Petersburg the following year, and Mussorgsky's suite depicts walk around it, viewing 10 pictures in total. In addition to the pieces inspired by individual pictures, the suite contains several variations of the 'Promenade' theme, which depicts Mussorgsky roving through the exhibition, now leisurely, now briskly in order to come close to a picture that had attracted his attention, and at times sadly, thinking of his departed friend. (Vladimir Stasov).Ranges have been reduced to accommodate young or developing players. The 1st part goes no higher than F4, and the bass part no lower than C2. The melody is mainly in the 1st part, with passages in the 2nd and 3rd parts from time to time, but as the texture of Mussorgksy's composition is almost exclusively homophonic, all parts have equal importance. I have inserted additional dynamics and accents to aid phrasing, and adapted the ending to suit a standalone performance. For more arrangements for developing ensembles, see:https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/james-brady-music-sheet-music/3006312

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.841328 Composed by Piatti, Carlo Alfredo. Arranged by Artistic Score Engraving by Michele Galvagno. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. 66 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #3624857. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.841328). Piatti composed the small quartet (Quartettino) In vacanza (On holiday), a Sonata-form in three movements for four cellos, dedicating it to the young cellists from Bergamo in 1891. It was premiered at the final exams in the same year.It is a simply structured piece made of catchy melodies, thick of that irony, that carelessness that probably Piatti reckoned as a fundamental soft skill for young musicians. The first movement, Allegro con brio, bears the title Partenza(Departure), the second, Andantino quasi allegretto, Arrivo (Arrival), the third, Allegretto vivo, Danza rustica (Rustic Dance). One cannot help but notice the lack of a slow movement in the middle or of a Coming Back at the end. We can explain this only in recognising that Piatti, having come to the end of a long career, may have wanted to leave a wishing message to the younglings who were still at the beginning of their path: “may your life be as a long, endless holiday, with no slack moment; may the enthusiasm to push forward never falter you and may even old age have the cheerful rhythm of a danceâ€This score was published in 2018 and updated in 2023.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.723161 Composed by Georg Philipp Telemann. Arranged by Joel Jacklich (ASCAP). Baroque,Concert. Score and parts. 35 pages. Joel Jacklich #5707489. Published by Joel Jacklich (A0.723161). Georg Philipp Telemann wrote four concerti for four unaccompanied violins: TWV40:201-204.  This is an arrangement for four celli of the fourth concerto in A Major, changed from its original key of A major to D Major to allow for the same string crossings and changes as in the violin version but for the configuration of the cello. Whereas the original violin version is of intermediate to advanced intermediate difficulty, this version for celli is listed as advanced because of the double-stops in the first movement. .

Katherine L Fraser #882831. Published by Katherine L Fraser (A0.1292222). No one gets the “boring part†in this arrangement of the iconic classic, which has been performed by everyone from Gene Austin, to Joe Cocker, to Sir Paul McCartney!  The piece kicks off with the intro; if time is a factor, start at Measure 16, or where the Refrain begins, at Measure 20.  Although sprinkled with accidentals, this cello quartet is surprisingly easy to play.  It is ideal for a variety of events, including weddings, receptions, festivals, general performances, or just for fun.  I hope you enjoy!!!

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1172495 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Classical,Film/TV,Instructional,March,Romantic Period. 14 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #772721. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1172495). This arrangement adapted for violoncello quartet was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, in order to be performed by young music students who want to enter the symphonic music. Besides, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change of key, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as for use in ensemble practice between musicians of different traditions.Ludwig van Beethoven began concentrated work on his Symphony No. 7 in A major Op. 92 in 1811, it was completed in 1812, and was dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries, and premiered in Vienna on December 8, 1813. It is considered a remarkable example of the more ebullient side of Beethoven's compositional personality and evidence that even after the onset of deafness, he still found cause for musical optimism. The second movement Allegretto is a funeral march in everything but name. Often several contrasting melodic ideas are made to coexist, as if Beethoven were imagining several processions converging on the cemetery at the same time. As he was working on this symphony during the years of the Napoleonic Wars, this experience was probably within his experience. It was also used as the soundtrack to the film Knowing, by director Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, where it is used in the final scene of the film. Beethoven called Symphony No. 7 his most excellent symphony, and a music critic of the time reported, this symphony is the most melodically rich and the most pleasing and comprehensible of all Beethoven's symphonies..

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.723157 Composed by Georg Philipp Telemann. Arranged by Joel Jacklich (ASCAP). Baroque,Concert. Score and parts. 19 pages. Joel Jacklich #5363175. Published by Joel Jacklich (A0.723157). Georg Philipp Telemann wrote four concerti for four violins unaccompanied, his TWV 40:201-204.  Here is the first concerto in G major arranged for four violoncelli by Joel Jacklich (A.S.C.A.P.).  This arrangement is an octave below the original violin work.  Taking the key down an octave and a fifth to accommodate the same parallel open strings as the violins made the range too low (very playable; however, very muddy).  Therefore, I have used the same key as the violin, taking it down only an octave.  This gives a much more pleasing sound, but makes the upper range notes much more difficult, going up to a D5, requiring the use of tenor and treble clefs.  It is therefore listed as an advanced piece.
