Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.884896 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Jonathan Prentice. Classical,Opera. 9 pages. Jonathan Prentice #6111525. Published by Jonathan Prentice (A0.884896). Accompanied by his long suffering servant, Leporello, the serial seducer, Don Giovanni looks on admiringly, as a vengeful Donna Elvira sings about her lust for justice against the man who has betrayed her, unaware that it's in fact him she's ranting about. From Act 1 of Mozart's famous opera, Ah, who could ever tell me is a wonderfully dramatic and fiery aria. (Here in Db Major, a tone lower than the original, suitable for younger sopranos).

Soprano voice and piano - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6665 For soprano and piano. Composed by John Casken. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 12 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6665. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6665). French.Chansons de Verlaine were completed in 2006. The third song, Colloque sentimental, was written in 2003 for Alison Smart and Katharine Durran’s New French Song project. It was as a result of having written one short song to words by Verlaine that I subsequently decided to set two further poems to make a group of three. All three were also set by Debussy: L’ombre des arbres and Chevaux de bois appear in Ariettes Oubliées, while Colloque sentimental belongs to Debussy’s second set of Fêtes Galantes. The poems I have grouped together are linked by the idea of three different landscapes. In the first, Verlaine precedes the words of his own sad, pale landscape with words from Cyrano de Bergerac about a nightingale who fears himself about to fall into a river and drown. In the second poem the landscape has been occupied by a fairground where men, women and children watch as the hobby-horses go round and round before night falls and the church tolls a passing-bell. The third poem takes us into an old park where two ghosts recall their past. The one wonders if the other remembers the happy days of their past lives, but the other doesn’t want to remember, barely acknowledging the closeness they once shared, seeing only that ‘hope has fled, defeated, towards the dark sky.’ I am very grateful to Roger Nichols and Dominique Mols for their advice with the setting of the French texts and with the translations. John Casken Colloque sentimental was first performed by Alison Smart and Katherine Durran at the Purcell Room in London on 13 July 2004.

Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.989229 Composed by Mary Ann Joyce. Celtic,Concert. 8 pages. Mary Ann Joyce-Walter #6207001. Published by Mary Ann Joyce-Walter (A0.989229). A familiar 19th century Irish ballad by the Irish poet, Eugene Field.  The poem and the music are touching and sad:  there are toys in the attic covered with dust, and the little toy soldier is red with rust, and his musket molds in his hands.  There was a time when the toys were new and Little Boy Blue kissed them and put them there.  He told them not to leave until he came to get them, but - an angel song awakened Little Boy Blue, and the years past.  The faithful toys stayed in the place where he put them, but they wondered sorrowfully what happened to their Little Boy Blue..

Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1345208 By Isaac Watts. By Alex Hartel. Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Sacred. 19 pages. Alexander Hartel #930145. Published by Alexander Hartel (A0.1345208). The text is a poem by Isaac Watts (1674-1748), the English hymn-writer better known for such traditional favorites as Joy to the World or When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. Appearing in 1715 under the title, Hush! My Dear, Lie Still and Slumber, the lullaby portrays a mother singing to her baby of the serenity and comfort her baby enjoys, contrasted with the bleak conditions in which the baby Jesus was born. As she sings, the mother figuratively takes her child to the cross and expresses her longing to see the child come to know the Savior who died there. In this setting for solo soprano, accompanied by piano and cello, there are moments of tenderness, interspersed with interludes of intense emotion, finished with a tranquil conclusion.
