Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774716 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. A Cappella,Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Octavo. 10 pages. Sandra Milliken #2335405. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774716). 2016 Choral Contest EntryThe words for Noël nouvelet first appeared around the time of Columbus’ 1492 voyage to the Americas. The word nouvelet doesn’t exist any more, but it is related to the modern French word nouvel meaning new. So the title proclaims a new Christmas song in honour of the newborn King. This rhythmically buoyant a cappella arrangement for male choir captures the exuberance of the Christmas spirit, proclaiming the good news of the birth of the newborn King. An introductory Noel section is skilfully used as interlude and modulatory material, with the contrasting textures and harmonic colours bringing a new flavour to this traditional 15th century seasonal favourite. It may be sung in either the original French or English. .

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1256812 Composed by William H. Walter. Arranged by Tuaimanu B. Petaia. A Cappella,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual,Traditional. Octavo. 9 pages. Tuaimanu Byron Petaia #850197. Published by Tuaimanu Byron Petaia (A0.1256812). I became aware of the hymn Rise Up, O Men of God! whilst playing through the hymnal used by my congregation a few years before I tried my hand at writing this arrangement in 2021. I drew part of my inspiration from a recording of the hymn made by the Tabernacle Choir, as well as from a very popular arrangement of the hymn Nearer My God to Thee by BYU Vocal Point.I’ve always been impressed by the immense power found in the unison singing of any choir, which is why I find the opening to this hymn so compelling and captivating. There is a grand and almost orchestral quality to this hymn that I find almost impossible to replicate in an ensemble that is singing acapella, and so in a way I think it almost inevitable that this arrangement is anti-climactic. I tried my best to write in a way that I thought imitated the triumphal and regal sounds of brass instruments and the organ. Even so, this hymn remains one of my favorites of all time, and I hope this arrangement does it justice, especially because it is ultimately written with the express purpose encouraging the saints to have a greater love and greater sense of jubilation in praising our Lord.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1098785 Composed by Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Bareilles. Arranged by Stephen Smith. A Cappella,Christmas,Contemporary,Holiday,Pop. Octavo. 12 pages. Stephen Smith #702637. Published by Stephen Smith (A0.1098785). A lush a cappella arrangement of a gorgeous song, mostly in 5 parts (ATTBB), but expanding to 6 and 7 parts for the climactic verse proclaiming I still believe in summer days--and eventually to 9 independent parts for the hypnotic final choruses. Requires an ensemble that can handle the extreme lower (C2) and upper (Eb5) ends of the male choral range. (Either that OR a rare individual like Aerhyn Lau, whose amazing multi-track recording of the arrangement is excerpted here with permission. Check out the complete recording--and many other choral delights--on Aerhyn's bandcamp page!).

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522344 Composed by Traditional Spiritual - circa 1840. Arranged by Paul A. Jorg. A Cappella,Spiritual,Traditional. Octavo. 5 pages. Paul A. Jorg #5971195. Published by Paul A. Jorg (A0.522344). This arrangement is for 4-part male voices (TTBB) a cappella.  The melody is passed around to each part during the presentation, which makes it interesting to sing or to hear it sung. This Spiritual was created before the Civil War, circa 1840. Mary Don't You Weep (alternately titled O Mary Don't You Weep, Oh Mary, Don't You Weep, Don't You Mourn, or variations thereof) is a Spiritual that originates from before the American Civil War – thusit describes their origins among the enslaved, and it contains coded messages of hope and resistance.  The song tells the Biblical story of Mary of Bethany and her distraught pleas to Jesus to raise her brother Lazarus from the dead.  Other narratives relate to The Exodus and the Passage of the Red Sea, with the chorus proclaiming Pharaoh's army got drown-ded, and to God's rainbow covenant to Noah after the Great Flood.  There are many verses that developed over the years,  here are just a few.
