SKU: MQ.8444-E

Composed by Robert Schuneman. Advanced/Collegiate. 21st Century, Benediction/Sending, Faith. Octavo. 12 pages. Duration 3 minutes, 40 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8444-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8444-E).

UPC: 600313484445. English.

Dana Gioia's prayer in the manner of The Beatitudes touches upon some uncommon ideas for recepients of blessings. The point seems to be that many things are blessed that, at first consideration, might not seem to be.
Robert Schuneman's setting for male chorus is mostly homophonic and hymn-like, but it also includes passages that are chant-like and polyphonic with thinner choral textures for the sake of contrast. Each blessing receives its own musical treatment and has its own mood. It is as if they are all miniature compositions performed attacca.
Duration: 3:40.

Canzona alla terza Verbum supernum prodiens was composed late one night after I was inspired by the chant melody as found in the Hymnal 1982, hymn 63. Rather than compose on the computer as I usually do, I wrote by hand as I determined the best four-part canonic treatment for each of the phrases of the chant. Composing this was akin to assembling a puzzle, both in mindset (this note fits best here) and addictive quality (need to finish this now!). Originally conceived as a short organ piece, I quickly chose to add the English text from the Hymnal 1982 then text directly from the Liber Usualis, a Catholic book of Gregorian chants commonly used until the reforms of the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II).

This piece is similar in style to an Italian Renaissance canzona or early German Baroque kanon. It should be performed with performance practice of those eras in mind, including lifts after dotted notes, metric accents, and minimal vibrato, especially at cadences. Lines that end in a melisma should be performed by singing the final vowel and placing the consonant at the release of the final melisma note. The first verse may be sung in unison or as a solo as printed below. The verses may be sung in alternatum (odd verses printed below: solo chant, even verses: choir). The first four verses form a complete anthem and the last two verses are suitable as a Communion anthem, or all six may be sung.

The SSA Latin version was adapted from the original SATB version for the women of the Hillcrest High School choral program under the direction of Dr. Khristina Motley in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It reduces the original four-voice setting to three voices without sacrificing any canonic entrances. This SSA English version is also suitable for performance by an advanced middle school choral ensemble or for TTB men.

Also available as an organ solo or in Latin. SATB Latin/English versions coming soon!

By The Newsboys. By Keith Getty and Stuart Townend. Arranged by Stephen J. Nasby - editing M. Borsoi. Christian,Gospel. Octavo. 24 pages. Marco Borsoi #5648469. Published by Marco Borsoi (A0.904854).

In Christ Alone is a popular modern Christian song written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, both songwriters of Christian hymns and contemporary worship music in the United Kingdom. The song, with a strong Irish melody, is the first hymn they penned together. The music was by Getty and the original lyrics by Townend. It was composed in 2001.

This song is considered a Christian credal song for belief in Jesus Christ. The theme of the song is the life, death and resurrection of Christ, and that he is God whom even death cannot hold.

The song is commonly known as In Christ Alone (My Hope Is Found) and In Christ Alone (I Stand) taking verses from the song. It has become very popular and has been the subject of many cover versions and many language translations.

The last two verses are suitable as a Communion anthem.

By T. Graham Brown. By Bruce Burch, T. Graham Brown, and Ted Hewitt. Arranged by Jeff Tincher. Christian,Country. Octavo. 12 pages. Jeff Tincher #845074. Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.1250809).

I first heard this song on an episode of Larry's Country Diner and fell in love with the song. I really love songs that take a common phrase or idea and turn it around to mean something else. This is a ballad about a drunkin' husband that has had enough and asks God to help him get rid of the bottle. In the original key from T. Graham Brown's Freah Take project, I altered the lyric just a bit (2 words) to make it usable in both secular and Sacred genres. Duration = 3:49. Composed by Joseph Hart. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. A Cappella,Folk,Religious,Sacred. Octavo. 15 pages. Mark R Lewis #745189. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1144871).

Better known by it's longer title Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy, the text for this hymn was written by Joseph Hart in the mid-1700s. The text is thought to be loosely based on his conversion to Christianity. One of the most common tunes to be associate with the text is Restoration, sometimes known as Arise. This pentatonic tune comes from the Southern Harmony collection. This a cappella arrangement by Mark Lewis passes the melody between all four voice parts with key changes that place the melody nicely within every vocal range. Alternating between arpeggiating and homophonic accompaniment, this arrangement provides a wide variety of singing experiences for the choir over the course of the song.
