Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1196607 Composed by John Allison. A Cappella,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. Octavo. 8 pages. John Allison #795770. Published by John Allison (A0.1196607). This is an a capella setting for six-part male voice choir (TTBarBarBB) of a C19th poem that remains remarkably relevant to any contemporary struggle against injustice. The poem was a favourite of Nelson Mandela's during his 27 years of imprisonment. The piece opens with a haunting evocation of the darkness and cruelty of unjust incarceration; a rhythmic middle section portrays the prisoner's stubborn refusal to lose hope and human dignity, whatever obstacles and punishments must be overcome. The final, maestoso section is a rousing hymn, a joyful celebration of determination to remain true to one's beliefs and ideals, and pride in being the master of one's own fate.Audiences will appreciate the variety of moods and tempos within the piece; ending on a huge emotional high makes it the perfect number to end a performance. Male voice choirs will relish the challenge and the opportunity to demonstrate their control of dynamics, rhythmic ensemble singing and a full range of timbres from ghostly to triumphant.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1144863 Composed by English Folk Song. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. A Cappella,Celtic,Folk,Irish,Traditional. Octavo. 11 pages. Mark R Lewis #745181. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1144863). Scarborough Fair is an English folk song that is centuries old in which a young man tells about his love and lists a series of impossible tasks for her to complete. The song has remained popular throughout the years but was particularly brought into public eye when the folk-rock duo Simon and Garfunkel covered it incorporating lyrics of their own. This a cappella, TTBB quartet/choir with optional hand drum part by Mark Lewis showcases all four voice parts with key changes that place the melody nicely within every vocal range. Each verse explores a different method of accompaniment giving the whole choir a variety of choral experiences.

TTBB choir (a cappella) - Digital Download SKU: MQ.4995-E Composed by Frank Ferko. 12 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #4995-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.4995-E). The Hildegard Motets comprise a cycle of nine unaccompanied choral motets using texts by the 12th century abbess Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179). The texts were extracted from Hildegard's opus of more than seventy sacred poems titled Symphinia armonie celestium revelationum. Although these poems have been translated into English (more than once) and some of the translations are quite brilliant, I chose to set the original Latin texts as I felt they remained closer to Hildegard's own thoughts. The nine poems used in this cycle were selected according to their appropriateness to seasons in the Christian liturgical caldendar (thus, most of them can be sung in specific liturgical settings) and to their appropriateness to the structured plan of this cycle as well as for their sheer poetic beauty. Hildegard's poetic vocabulary was unusual and unique; she frequently used language that is not found in standard Latin liturgical texts. As with the music she composed, her poetry is highly ecstatic, vivid and rich in imagery.
