This composition shows how triads and quad chords work as melody. The prelude of this composition is a slow 4/4 pop feel before it moves into the main body of the song, a 12/8 blues motif. The quad chord bridge moves into a different melody with the 12/8 signature. The second bridge is two measures reminiscent of the opening slow section before it goes into a musical accented war between the instruments. The song, once again, moves into the remembrance of the slow 4 section remaining in the 12/8 time. A three measure battle returns back to the original 12/8 section. For percussion (three players) and narrator Narrator text - from 'Le Horla' by Guy de Maupassant (1850 - 1893), published 1887.  English translation by Jonathan Sturges (1864–1911) published 1890. Guy de Maupassant was a French writer, remembered as a master of the short story.  It has been suggested that the word horla is a blending of the French words hors (outside) and là (there) and the title can be interpreted as the what’s out there. Percussion: Wind wand or bullroarer and two guiros (or similar). Players read from the score. Narrator cues are shown in the score in boxed text and below in square brackets.  Between rehearsal letters [D] and [H] the percussionists maintain tempo; the narrator cues are for guidance only.

The song goes through the signs of depression and stress, and connected with the listeners in a way that electronic rock had not done before. This simple arrangement was one of my first for the steel band, (as the copyright shows). Edited in 2020 to be better, but the form and harmony stayed the same, which is original to the song. Very simple lower pan parts, nearly all of the work is on the tenor parts. This would be great for a young band!
