By ABBA. By Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Arranged by Derek Hasted. 20th Century,Pop. 28 pages. Derek Hasted #874514. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1283320).

THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL - Great concert piece for 4 GUITARS or larger ensemble
Primarily for Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar only.

Derek Hasted writes This is a concert crowd-pleaser perfect for intermediate or advanced intermediate guitarists!

One reason ABBA songs are so memorable isn’t the strong melody line, it’s all the other clever harmonies and countermelodies that lurk just under the surface to make a crafted masterpiece.

My arrangement uses guitar-friendly shapes to capture the whole song and many of the countermelodies that make the original such a great listen.

The dynamics on the score tie in with the orchestration, so that the quiet sections are slow-moving and the louder sections are busy, adding yet more notes before the previous ones fade away. I’ve added just a little fingering here and there if there’s really only one place on the neck to play what’s on the page. Elsewhere, please choose the sweet spot that gives you, the player, the best mix of tone, sustain, playability and confidence.

I hope you enjoy performing this as much as the audience will enjoy hearing it!

This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at
www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

By Isaac Albeniz. By Isaac Albeniz. Arranged by Nick Mordal. 20th Century,Classical,Latin,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Individual part. 3 pages. Nick Mordal #917541. Published by Nick Mordal (A0.1329558).

This brilliantly rhythmic piano piece by Albéniz has been transposed up a fifth for guitar. Albéniz wrote this music with the percussion of a guitar in mind. Like another famous Albéniz guitar transcription, Asturias (Leyenda), it fits very nicely on the classical guitar. It is fairly difficult with some quick position shifts and is worth putting time into. Its' sound is a mix between classical and flamenco guitar. This piece has been done by several classical guitarists like Christopher Parkening, and this is my take on it. It features two contrasting sections. The A section is harsh, percussive and very Spanish. The B section is a melodically driven change of pace, before it finishes in a repeat of the A section.

ISBN 9781513476667. 8.75X11.75 inches.

This solo collection presents 19 iconic melodies from the American traditional song book plus 6 modern original compositions by William Bay, president of Mel Bay Publications; all selections have been arranged in tablature for the 5-string banjo in gDGBD tuning by Catalonian multi-instrumentalist and bluegrass specialist, Llu?s G?mez.Any collection of American ballads would be incomplete without settings of the beautiful melodies penned by Stephen Foster, several of which appear here including Beautiful Dreamer, Darling Nellie Gray, I Dream of Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair, and Hard Times, Come Again No More. Some of these tunes are arranged in uncommon banjo keys, all without retuning the banjo or using a capo. These keys may be challenging at first but will teach you a lot about the banjo fretboard. The authorÆs generous preface offers tips on practice, performance and interpretation rarely found in tablature collections such as these, but this book has it all, including online recordings of each arrangement.

Composed by Johann Pachelbel + Traditional Cornish. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Baroque,Christmas,Classical. 12 pages. Derek Hasted #4848031. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797758).

PACHELBEL'S CAROL - a piece with a twist in the tail - 5 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLE
For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.

Derek Hasted writes Pachelbel's Carol - a piece for 5 guitars (or a large ensemble) with a twist in the tail!

Before you purchase - please note that I have also arranged this piece in 6 parts - the additional part is suitable for a complete beginner. You can find it most easily from my website (below) - select the sextet page.

It was quite a few years ago that I conceived and arranged this fun little Christmas piece. Since then I’ve performed it many times in concert with my
Guitar Workshop, and it’s always particularly well received.

The arpeggios and countermelodies are inspired by the repeating sequences in Pachelbel’s Canon, and they end up providing a rich and totally unexpected accompaniment to a verse and chorus of the famous Christmas Carol 'The First Nowell'.

This piece is just perfect as a special item in a Christmas concert, because the title conceals the surprise in the piece - each phase brings in another guitar part, making the piece build slowly before the final guitar launches into the well-known carol.

The parts are easy and suitable for an ensemble with limited experience or one with limited chances to rehearse. In a mixed ability ensemble, there’s something for everyone; in a school guitar group, the teacher can take the Guitar 5 part if no-one in the group is comfortable in fifth position - all the other parts are first position.

I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

Composed by Eric J Roth. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 6 pages. Eric J Roth #5733799. Published by Eric J Roth (A0.914745).

Two pages of music.

Neve (pronounced NEEV) is an ancestral name within my family, to whom this piece is dedicated. The word appears in multiple languages and has a variety of meanings. In British English, Neve has two definitions, both of which have long been out of common usage. The first definition refers to a younger male relative such as a nephew or grandson. The second refers to a spendthrift. Neve is also found in Irish as a girl’s name. In various Latin and Romance languages, it refers to snow or glaciers.

Neve is one of a set of four pieces composed in late 2019 and early 2020. The publication of the entire set is forthcoming, but I am also offering Neve here as a short standalone work.

Composed for guitar solo, Neve evokes a young boy’s leisurely daydream. The 3/2 time signature, marked andante, and opening G major tonality convey the sense of a lazy weekend day outside in the woods or by the water. Like many daydreams, Neve starts out simply before wandering off into different moods and ideas. A recurring transitional passage (set as a quasi hemiola) serves to modulate to new tonal areas, each of which has its own distinct character.

The brief section in A Dorian is marked con moto and evokes the thoughts of excitement and adventure. This is followed by a contrapuntal section in E minor with hints of Dorian. The mood here is more subdued and perhaps even melancholy. The penultimate section in C# minor (with hints of pentatonic and Phrygian) suggests a longing for faraway exotic places before returning to G major to end the piece.

By The Police. By Sting. Arranged by Pablo Alcázar. Pop,Rock,Singer/Songwriter. Individual part. 3 pages. Pablo Alcázar #856983. Published by Pablo Alcázar (A0.1264075).

This arrangement of Every Breath you Take (for solo guitar) fits perfectly for Classical (spanish) and acoustic guitars because every chord sounds fully along with the melody and the bass gives a unique feeling of the rhythm. It's made for solo guitar and it's appropiate for begginers that look for a challenge or intermediate guitarist that want something fresh and new to play. Also is a very good arrangement for professional players that need repertoire for wedding events.

Every Breath You Take is a song by the English rock band the Police from their album Synchronicity (1983). Written by Sting, the single was the biggest US and Canadian hit of 1983, topping the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for eight weeks (the band's only No. 1 hit on that chart), and the Canadian RPM Chart for four weeks. Their fifth UK No. 1, it topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks. The song also reached the Top 10 in numerous other countries.
Sting wrote the song in 1982 in the aftermath of his separation from Frances Tomelty and the beginning of his relationship with Trudie Styler. Their split was controversial. As The Independent reported in 2006, The problem was, he was already married – to actress Frances Tomelty, who just happened to be Trudie's best friend. Sting and Frances lived next door to Trudie in Bayswater, West London, for several years before the two of them became lovers. The affair was widely condemned.

To escape the public eye, Sting retreated to the Caribbean. He started writing the song at Ian Fleming's writing desk on the Goldeneye estate in Oracabessa, Jamaica. The lyrics are the words of a possessive lover who is watching every breath you take; every move you make. Sting recalled:

I woke up in the middle of the night with that line in my head, sat down at the piano and had written it in half an hour. The tune itself is generic, an aggregate of hundreds of others, but the words are interesting. It sounds like a comforting love song. I didn't realise at the time how sinister it is. I think I was thinking of Big Brother, surveillance and control..

Romance Anonimo for Guitar.

This beautiful piece, known as Romance d'Amour, Anonymous Romance, Spanish Romance, Romance de Amor, Romanza among other names are a very well know piece. The composer is unknown.

Romance Anónimo (Anonymous Romance) is a piece for guitar, also known as Estudio en Mi de Rubira (Study in E by Rubira), Spanish Romance, Romance de España, Romance de Amor, Romance of the Guitar, Romanza and Romance d'Amour among other names. It is composed in the style of parlour music of the late 19th century in Spain or South America,

History:

The style of the piece is that of the parlour music of the late 19th century in Spain or South America. It has a closed three-part form, the first in the minor key and the second being in the major key, with the third part being a restatement of the first.

The origins and authorship of the piece are unknown, hence 'anonimo'. It is thought to have been originally a solo instrumental guitar work from the 19th century, and has variously been attributed to Antonio Rubira, David del Castillo, Francisco Tárrega, Fernando Sor, Daniel Fortea, Francisco Vicaria l Llobet, Antonio Cano, Vicente Gómez, and Narciso Yepes. It has been suggested that doubts about its authorship may have been encouraged by a wish to avoid paying copyright fees and the desire of publishing companies to claim the lucrative copyright.

Early recordings:

The earliest recording of Romance is found on a cylinder from the Viuda de Aramburo label[3][4][5][6] featuring guitarists Luis and Simon Ramírez, which was made in Madrid sometime between 1897 and 1901. The work is titled Sort-Estudio para Guitarra por S. Ramirez. The name Sort, as it occurs on the cylinder's title, probably refers to Fernando Sor, as his surname is sometimes spelled Sort or Sorts. The recording may be heard on the Doremi CD release Tarrega, His Disciples, and Their Students (DHR-7996) and online at the UCSB Cylinder Audio Archive.

Possible origins:

An early publication of the work, known as Estudio para Guitarra de Rovira and attributed to Spanish guitarist Antonio Rubira,[13] was published by J.A. Medina e Hijo in Argentina before 1925 (probably in 1913, when the publisher ceased activities).

Guitarist and composer Isaías Sávio (Montevideo, 1900 — São Paulo, 1977) published the work in 1959 with the title Romance de Amor (Estudo em Mi) Música de Antonio Rovira (Segunda metade do século XIX) He published information which cited Antonio Rubira as the author. (See Violào e Mestres Junio, 1966 / São Paulo, Brasil.

Sávio gives information that Juan Pargas, who knew Rubira, gave the Estudio de Rovira to the guitarist Juan Valles in 1876 or 1878. Sávio mentions that the work became popular in Buenos Aires and began to be published by, among others, Spaniard Pedro Maza; and that the work appeared in the method of Pedro Mascaró y Reissig, published in Montevideo in 1919, with the title Conocido por Estudio de Rovira.

Publishing company Ricordi of Argentina currently publishes the piece, and attributes authorship to Antonio Rubira.

Composed by Isaac Albeniz. Arranged by Daniel Clark. Romantic Period. Individual part. 13 pages. Daniel Clark #6441461. Published by Daniel Clark (A0.982529).

The work draws on original and early piano editions as well as the first guitar transcription made by Severino GarciÌa Fortea who introduced key innovations familiar to most classical guitarists. Guitarists are encouraged to use this arrangement in consultation with the transcriptions by GarciÌa Fortea, AndreÌs Segovia, and Stanley Yates.

Asturias is known for its abrupt chord interruptions which gives it its distinctive character. In the original, less well known, transcription for guitar by GarciÌa Fortea, these were plucked with the thumb and three fingers simultaneously. Segovia expanded the chord to a full six strings which is strummed. This six-string variation is now adopted as standard in nearly all classical guitar versions and the work of GarciÌa Fortea has all but been forgotten. Stanley Yates was aware of GarciÌa’s version, though seems to have been misdirected by Segovia and did not appear to get hold of GarciÌa’s work before making his own transcription.

A key difference between the piano versions and guitar versions is the fact that the pedal note is missing immediately following the chords played on the first notes of the bar. This seems to be a pragmatic decision made due to the technical challenge of articulating a chord on the guitar and then immediately following up with a pedal note. It may have been also a decision to more strongly emphasise the chord. However, the composer clearly indicated that the chord should be as short as all of the other notes and hence it is reasonable to strike the chord and immediately lose it and start the pedal note.

By Aaron Larget-Caplan. By Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Aaron Larget-Caplan. Baroque,Christian,Christmas,Classical,Early Music. Individual part. 5 pages. Aaron Larget-Caplan #962501. Published by Aaron Larget-Caplan (A0.1377888).

Prelude N. 1 in C Major, BWV 846 by J.S. Bach (1685-1750) arranged by Aaron Larget-Caplan

Includes: 2 pages of music, 1 page of notes, 1 page of alternate fingering. It is recommended to print double-sided so no page turns are required while playing.

About this Arrangement â?? The regular arpeggio gesture is straightforward on piano, but on guitar the performer may have to do a few adjustments to keep this gesture clear. The performer should play the arpeggios over multiple strings as much as possible allowing the notes to ring beyond their notated values. The music can be realized in various ways; hence the fingerings are suggestions and some measures can be played without a Barre. For an ethereal conclusion, I raised the octave of the last measures.

Prelude N. 1 in C Major (no sharps or flats) is the first of 44 preludes and fugues written by Bach for keyboard. It follows a progression of arpeggiated chords touching multiple keys as it climaxes on an exquisite pedal point in the Dominant before returning to C-major. One of the most often arranged of Bachâ??s compositions, it was most famously the basis of Ave Maria by Charles Gunoud.

This arrangement of Prelude No. 1 in C major, WTC Book I, BWV 846 is featured on the 2022 album â??Godâ??s Time: Music of J.S. Bach on Guitarâ?? by Aaron Larget-Caplan on Tiger Turn (888-09) and streams worldwide. Online lessons are also available.
The arrangements of Aaron Larget-Caplan have been called â??very importantâ? and â??a must haveâ?, with Soundboard â??strongly advocatingâ? for them â??to be performed by young guitaristsâ? and include music by J.S. Bach, John Cage, Isaac Albéniz, Franz Schubert, Reynaldo Hahn, and Alan Hovhaness.

By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Artur Freire. Country,Folk,Pop,Rock,Wedding. Individual part. 2 pages. MP Sheet Music #1049894. Published by MP Sheet Music (A0.1472193).

All My Loving is a Beatles song, composed by Paul McCartney (although it is credited to Lennon/McCartney) for the 1963 album With the Beatles.

It was one of the few examples of compositions where McCartney wrote the lyrics before the music; the text was apparently conceived as a poem, composed while he was shaving.

McCartney originally envisioned it as a country & western song, and it was written on piano during a rehearsal for the Beatles' tour with Roy Orbison; George Harrison added his Nashville-style guitar solo to the recording. Using the letter format in the song's lyrics, also used in P.S. I Love You.
