Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1377888 By Aaron Larget-Caplan. By Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Aaron Larget-Caplan. Baroque,Christian,Christmas,Classical,Early Music. Individual part. 5 pages. Aaron Larget-Caplan #962501. Published by Aaron Larget-Caplan (A0.1377888). Prelude N. 1 in C Major, BWV 846 by J.S. Bach (1685-1750) arranged by Aaron Larget-Caplan Includes: 2 pages of music, 1 page of notes, 1 page of alternate fingering. It is recommended to print double-sided so no page turns are required while playing.About this Arrangement ā?? The regular arpeggio gesture is straightforward on piano, but on guitar the performer may have to do a few adjustments to keep this gesture clear. The performer should play the arpeggios over multiple strings as much as possible allowing the notes to ring beyond their notated values. The music can be realized in various ways; hence the fingerings are suggestions and some measures can be played without a Barre. For an ethereal conclusion, I raised the octave of the last measures.Prelude N. 1 in C Major (no sharps or flats) is the first of 44 preludes and fugues written by Bach for keyboard. It follows a progression of arpeggiated chords touching multiple keys as it climaxes on an exquisite pedal point in the Dominant before returning to C-major. One of the most often arranged of Bachā??s compositions, it was most famously the basis of Ave Maria by Charles Gunoud. This arrangement of Prelude No. 1 in C major, WTC Book I, BWV 846 is featured on the 2022 album ā??Godā??s Time: Music of J.S. Bach on Guitarā?? by Aaron Larget-Caplan on Tiger Turn (888-09) and streams worldwide. Online lessons are also available. The arrangements of Aaron Larget-Caplan have been called ā??very importantā? and ā??a must haveā?, with Soundboard ā??strongly advocatingā? for them ā??to be performed by young guitaristsā? and include music by J.S. Bach, John Cage, Isaac AlbĆ©niz, Franz Schubert, Reynaldo Hahn, and Alan Hovhaness.Ā

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1237543 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Richard Hirsch. Baroque,Christian,Multicultural,Spiritual,World. Individual part. 11 pages. Richard Hirsch #833059. Published by Richard Hirsch (A0.1237543). I offer an arrangement of Bachā€™s all-time favourite Jesus, Joy of Manā€™s Desiring in an African inspired rendering for solo classical or acoustic guitar. The arrangement uses lots of natural harmonics in an attempt to mimic the African kalimba style of music. The arrangement goes in 4/4 time in polyrhythm with a second tier of accents at 2, 2&, and 4 with a slight swing. The polyrhythm makes the final chord sound like an upbeat! The low bases are notated as quarter notes and should be played so that they do not ring out. They are not muted (staccato), except where notated, but they should be kept short to give the piece a bouncy character. The arrangement contains the main melody and chorus sections of the original in G major, although I have changed the original in a number of ways. The first melody and chorus section in G major is prefaced by several bars of natural harmonics and is repeated only after the melody and chorus section in the key of A minor. Natural harmonics appear in many places in the piece interwoven with Bachā€™s original melody and chorus. I think the natural harmonics give the piece a really glorious ring.Ā The present arrangement incorporates many sections of a sister arrangement of the piece that I published recently that follows the original more closely and works as an introduction to the music with extensive left and right hand fingerings and tablature for intermediate students of guitar. This arrangement, considering the many natural harmonics, staccatos, tempo, and swing, is perhaps better suited for advanced intermediate students of classical or acoustic guitar. With that in mind, I therefore refrain from any extensive left and right hand fingerings for the present arrangement. The piece is a real joy to play and listen to!Ā The tempo for the present arrangement has been set to 140 bpm. I think the pace gives a real swing to the music. The piece may however be played at a faster tempo, e.g. Presto, or somewhere in between. With this great music you can hardly go wrong. The title I have chosen for the arrangement aims to be a play on words as in many English speaking parts of the world the name Bach often rhymes with the word ā€˜backā€™ as in a return to some place or time. ā€˜Bach to Africaā€™ is then an allusion to humanityā€™s primordial roots in Africa. Rejoice!

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1269357 Composed by Christian Petzold. Arranged by Pedro Abreu. Baroque. Individual part. 1 pages. All Music #861877. Published by All Music (A0.1269357). This is a guitar arrangement of one of the two minuets (BWV Anh. 114 and 115) from a suite for harpsichord by Christian Petzold (1677 - 1733), which were included in the 1725 Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach and thus previously attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750).The minuet has been meticulously transcribed for the guitar by Pedro Abreu (b. 1977) in 2022, and features the same ornaments as the ones included in the 1725 Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach. Abreu's attention to detail is reflected in the carefully crafted fingering, which balances the stylistic expectations of the era with the technical possibilities of the guitar. The written score showcases the delicate nuances of this arrangement, which highlights the guitar's ability to convey the richness and depth of Baroque music.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1234273 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Richard Hirsch. Baroque,Christian,Classical,Country,Folk. Individual part. 7 pages. Richard Hirsch #829813. Published by Richard Hirsch (A0.1234273). I offer an arrangement of Bachā€™s all-time favourite Jesus, Joy of Manā€™s Desiring for solo acoustic or classical guitar. I have arranged the piece in 4/4 time in a folk-fingerpicking style giving it something of an American folk-country character, perhaps verging on a gospel. The arrangement follows the original as faithfully as possible with the melody and choral sections interwoven.Ā I think the piece survives the time-change operation beautifully, retaining the joyful and praiseful character of Bachā€™s original. The piece is a joy to play and to listen to.The arrangement is accessible to intermediate to advanced students of acoustic or classical guitar. Any student of guitar who has mastered the basics of thumb-index-middle fingerpicking Ā (thumb, thumb, index, middle, thumb, index) will have fun with the piece.I give extensive left hand fingering accompanied by tabs as a guide to the intermediate students of guitar. Right hand fingering is given for the first playing of the repetitive passages and in passages where it might be difficult for the performer to find appropriate Ā fingering. Otherwise I expect the fingering to be more or less self-evident, leaving it to the individual taste and style of the interpreting guitarist.I have set the tempo to Presto for the arrangement to keep close to lively nature of the original, but the arrangement can also be played much slower, somewhere around Metronome 130. This results in a shift in mood towards a ragtime blues, verging on a spiritual. This great music is a never-ending source of inspiration. The piece is a nice follow-up to my folk-fingerpicking arrangements for Freight Train and The Entertainer.
