Guitar - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: ZY.DO-1522 Composed by Francis Bebey. Arranged by Ingrid Riollot. Score. 5 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1522. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1522). Son originalité continue de résonner dans le monde entier depuis son décès à la fin du mois de mai 2001.Francis Bebey was born in Douala in July 1929, into a large family where his father, a pastor, struggled to feed his children. But Francis had the opportunity to go to school. Admiring his elder brother, Marcel Eyidi Bebey, he educated himself, distinguished himself, and eventually received a scholarship to go and take his baccalaureate in France. We approached the end of the 1950s when he arrived in La Rochelle. More than ever, in this France where Africans were looked at with curiosity, condescension, or disdain, Francis relied on his intellectual resources. A diligent worker, he obtained his Baccalaureate, then moved to Paris where he started English studies at the Sorbonne. One day, he knew what truly attracted him: he wanted to do radio. Francis learned his craft in France and in the USA.After working for a few years as a reporter, he was hired in 1961 as an international civil servant in the UNESCO Information Department. In parallel, Francis had always been drawn to musical creation. His very serious daytime activity didnâ??t prevent him from frequenting jazz clubs in the evenings. In Paris, the Jazz, the trendy music of that time, but also rumba and salsa attracted him. He collected records and attended numerous concerts. With his accomplice Manu Dibango, Francis took the stage and played music.Francis liked classical music since his childhood. He grew up listening to the cantatas and oratorios of Bach or Handel that his father had sung in the temple. He became passionate about the guitar, impressed by the Spanish and South American masters, and decided to learn to strum the instrument himself. He started composing guitar pieces, blending the various influences that flow through him with the traditional African music he had carried within since childhood. His approach captivated the director of the American Cultural Center (then located in the Saint-Germain neighborhood of Paris), who offered him the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Francis gave his first guitar recital there (1963) in front of a mesmerized audience. His first solo album was released shortly thereafter.Gradually, Francis became recognized as a musician and composer. Several albums of the African guitar ambassador, as described by the press, were released. He also wrote books, to the point that his artistic career became challenging to reconcile with his career as a civil servant. In 1974, even though he had become the General Manager in charge of music at UNESCO, he took the bold leap and resigned from this prestigious institution to dedicated himself to the three activities that interested him: music, literature, and journalism. He explored the traditional musical heritage of the African continent, notably through the thumb piano sanza, and the polyphonic music of the Central African pygmies, or singing in his native language and composing humoristic songs in French!Success followed. Francis Bebey traveled the world: from France to Brazil, Cameroon to Sweden, Germany to the Carribean, or Morocco to Japan... the list of countries where he was invited to perform, gives lectures, or meets readers is very long. In addition to public recognition, he enjoyed the recognition of his fellow musicians, such as guitarist John Williams or Venezuelan Antonio Lauro, who invited him to be a part of the jury for a classical guitar competition in Caracas. His life was the journey of an African pioneer, a man rooted in his cultural heritage and carrying a message of sharing and hope for the world. His originality continues to vibrate around the world since his passing at the end of May 2001.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.954709 Composed by Francisco Tarrega. Arranged by Dennis Greensmith. Romantic Period. Individual part. 8 pages. Dennis Greensmith #3664221. Published by Dennis Greensmith (A0.954709). Grand Vals by Francisco Tarrega. Guitar.Arrangement for easy intermediate guitar by Dennis Greensmith. This arrangement is for early intermediate level though keeping the complete full structure, melody and harmony content by transposing the song to G major and the other key changes within the piece  (rather that there original A major). This allows more use of open bass notes though the arrangement still requires where appropriate the use of Barres. The original song is often listed as intermediate level thought it is a well known as a Trinity College Grade 8 piece which clearly falls in to an advance category. This arrangement is around the Grade 4 to 5 and much more suited to those players not yet at advanced level. The piece is presented in standard notation for those who like just read music and separately standard notation and TAB for those who like to have TAB as well.A full tutorial video of the arrangement can be found at the Guitarfingers Youtube channel which goes through there whole piece and offer many helpful tips in playing the song and options to help you through the more tricky passages.

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1260598 By Leo Costa. By Marina Oliveira de Santana / Leonardo Costa Dela Coleta. Arranged by Leo Costa. Classical,Contemporary,Jazz,Latin,Multicultural,World. Individual part. 4 pages. Leo Costa #853791. Published by Leo Costa (A0.1260598). Lua Nascente is a work for solo guitar which brings deep references to Brazilian regional rhythms such as ijexá, maracatu and baião.The original and virtuoso arrangement, written by the artist himself, brings references from popular music closer to the erudite universe without losing the connection with the lyrical narrative that makes it sound like a song. Influenced by great names in Brazilian guitar such as João Pernambuco, Garoto and Paulo Bellinati, Leo Costa proposes his own look at the instrument. It brings complex sonority due to the diversity of elements worked on the same instrument. Starting with low dynamics, full of natural harmonics, the music gradually grows and shows the clearest and strongest notes, reaching the fortissimo at its peak, to fall again afterwards, bringing precisely the figurative sense of a nocturnal trip/journey, with ups and downs, in the light of an imaginary moon that illuminates the Brazilian hinterland and our interior. The music follows unusual paths but at the same time brings constancy in the repetitive marking of the bass, proposing to be a reduced form of the rhythmic orchestra of an ijexá.

Guitar (fingerpicking) - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: M0.95552EB Award-Winning Fingerstyle Guitar Solos. Composed by Al Petteway. Solos. Style. E-book. Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #95552EB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.95552EB). ISBN 9781619119215. 8.75x11.75 inches.Master guitarist Al Petteway ventures into new territory with 15 Celtic-inspired, traditional, and New Age fingerstyle compositions in standard and alternate tunings. Derived from Al’s award-winning solo recording of the same title, each piece bears the inimitable Petteway signature of profoundly graceful, inspired innovation. Written in standard notation and tab with several pieces in alternate tunings. Al began his professional music career at the age of 11. He played guitar, drums, and string bass with a variety of rock and folk acts in the Washington D.C. area during the 60’s, becoming a local legend by the time he went to college to study music composition in 1970. In 1977, Al took a job with The National Geographic Society. His work as Supervisor of Picture Editing for the society’s Image Collection, gave him the artistic freedom to develop his own acoustic guitar style. While long recognized as one of the country’s foremost bluegrass and folk sidemen, Celtic music specialty label Maggie’s Music signed Al in 1993 and released Whispering Stones following by The Waters and the Wild-exposing his solo acoustic guitar work to an international audience for the first time. Al left the National Geographic to become a full-time musician in the spring of 1995, just before the release of Midsummer Moon.

Solo Guitar - Digital Download SKU: A0.483584 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Robert McCormack. Contemporary,Pop,Rock,Standards. Individual part. 2 pages. Published by Robert McCormak (A0.483584). Juxtaposing the anticipated beats of the melody over the calm walking bass shouldn't be too hard to play gracefully. Lines 4 and 5 have a 12th fret harmonic which contains the melody and quickly returns to fretted strings as the melody proceeds. Hearing the melody note on the downbeat of the harmonic is the goal. I missed the mis-alignment of the last three beats of the 1st measure on page 2. Those are three homophonic chords played on the beats. The last 2 measures of the coda (and the song) require a few position jumps. Legato is the goal here.

Guitar - Digital Download SKU: A0.1070388 Composed by Apostolos Paraskevas. 20th Century,Romantic Period,World. Full Performance. Duration 260. Silver Sickle Publications #6103003. Published by Silver Sickle Publications (A0.1070388). Mountains of Stowe, 2015 is a two-movement piece commissioned by and dedicated to guitarist Adam Holzman. The first movement I Stand Strong reflects the serenity and isolation someone might feel when surrounded by the mountains of Stowe, Vermont in the U.S.A. The second movement â€¦and the Sky is the Limit written in an ABA cyclic form is full of rhythmic gestures starting with the combination of 7/8, 2/4, 5/8 and 3/4 in the first four measures that leads to a slow movement as an attempt to sing a Greek song in those vast territories and to portray the thankfulness of being there and experience the presence of the amazing beauty of it.  When asked why he commissioned this piece, Holzman replied, My wife and I spend our summers in Stowe. We love being there, celebrate the summer and spend time outside. We have family and friends who come and share a few days with us and Apostolos is a dear friend who has been coming for several years. We talked about the possibility of him writing a piece that reflected Stowe and the mountains. When asked about the piece, Paraskevas responded, I always write music for the person behind the instrument, so while composing every note of this piece I had Adam in my mind; the way he plays, the way he breathes the way he lives his life. The work is written for the mountains of Stowe through Adam’s eyes and heart and I am the vehicle who translates it.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1473187 By Tom Salvatori. By Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Tom Salvatori. 19th Century,Classical,Romantic Period. Individual part. 1 pages. Salvatori Productions, Inc. #1050809. Published by Salvatori Productions, Inc. (A0.1473187). A note about this Guitar Arrangement - This piece presents a reimagined excerpt from Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto #1 in E minor, 2nd Movement. My goal in the arrangement was to stay strongly reverent to the original form and structure of the composition, but to present it in a manner that I anticipate even Mendelssohn himself would have never expected to hear his work...as a solo nylon string guitar lullaby. My hope is that you will enjoy listening to it in it's new form, and that it will help bring Felix Mendelssohn's composing work newly to the ears of folks who may not be inclined to attend Classical Symphony concerts. - Tom Salvatori, Guitar ArrangerShow less.

Published by Aleksander Wilgos (A0.1211957). 10 Studies in a Minimal Style for Guitar by Aleksander WilgosI came to the idea of composing this set of  studies because I wanted to enrich educational guitar repertoire with some modern sounding pieces. I also wanted to keep them simple, yet interesting for young people.Minimal style is great for both tasks. My students already played those studies with engagement and joy.Tehnical and musical difficulty is between beginner and intermediate. Studies are designed in a progressive mode, so the last study is probably the most difficult to play.More about me:www.facebook.com/wilgos.guitarwww.youtube.com/@wilgos.guitar
