Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953823 Composed by Haydn Reeder. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Individual part. 4 pages. Haydn Reeder #3005425. Published by Haydn Reeder (A0.953823). This work was originally written for solo guitar. The composer and performers have found that this arrangement for two guitars is more practical and therefore more effective. The ideas in the work sprang from my desire to exploit the 'natural' attributes of the guitar. The initial idea of calmly ascending and descending thirds and sixths is fairly soon consigned to accompanying a second idea which is a full-throated melody. From about a third of the way into the piece, both of these ideas are intermittently interrupted by what sound like explosions. In reality they are implosions as they often return the music to the calm initial idea. However, these implosions affect the other ideas. For instance, the impassioned low-pitched melody (second idea) is now animated by tremoli and ornamented. As for the initial idea, by the end of the piece its identity has changed significantly.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1444500 By Keith Terrett. By Isaac Manuel Francisco Albéniz y Pascual. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 19th Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,World. Individual part. 3 pages. Keith Terrett #1024393. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1444500). Isaac Manuel Francisco Albéniz y Pascual (Spanish pronunciation: [i?sak al??eni?]; 29 May 1860 – 18 May 1909) was a Spanish virtuoso pianist, composer, and conductor. He is one of the foremost composers of the Post-Romantic era who also had a significant influence on his contemporaries and younger composers. He is best known for his piano works based on Spanish folk music idioms. Isaac Albéniz was close to the Generation of '98.Transcriptions of many of his pieces, such as Asturias (Leyenda), Granada, Sevilla, Cadiz, Córdoba, Cataluña, Mallorca, and Tango in D, are important pieces for classical guitar, though he never composed for the guitar. Some of Albéniz's personal papers are held in the Library of Catalonia. As one of the leading composers of his era, Albéniz's influences on both contemporary composers and on the future of Spanish music are profound. As a result of his extended stay in France and the friendship he formed with numerous composers there, his composition technique and harmonic language influenced aspiring younger composers such as Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. His activities as conductor, performer and composer significantly raised the profile of Spanish music abroad and encouraged Spanish music and musicians in his own country.Albéniz's works have become an important part of the repertoire of the classical guitar, many of which have been transcribed by Francisco Tárrega, Miguel Llobet and others. Asturias (Leyenda) in particular is heard most often on the guitar, as are Granada, Sevilla, Cadiz, Cataluña, Córdoba, Mallorca, and Tango in D. Gordon Crosskey and Cuban-born guitarist Manuel Barrueco have both made solo guitar arrangements of all the eight-movements in Suite española. Selections from Iberia have rarely been attempted on solo guitar but have been very effectively performed by guitar ensembles, such as the performance by John Williams and Julian Bream of Iberia's opening Evocation. The Doors incorporated Asturias into their song Spanish Caravan; also, Iron Maiden's To Tame a Land uses the introduction of the piece for the song bridge. More recently, a guitar version of Granada functions as something of a love theme in Woody Allen's 2008 film Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The theme from Asturias was incorporated or adapted in several soundtracks including the 2008 horror film Mirrors, composed by Javier Navarrete, and the Netflix TV show Godless, composed by Carlos Rafael Rivera. In 1997 the Fundación Isaac Albéniz was founded to promote Spanish music and musicians and to act as a research centre for Albéniz and Spanish music in general.A street in Quito, Ecuador, is named after him.

Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #95552EB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.95552EB). ISBN 9781619119215. 8.75x11.75 inches.Master guitarist Al Petteway ventures into new territory with 15 Celtic-inspired, traditional, and New Age fingerstyle compositions in standard and alternate tunings. Derived from Al’s award-winning solo recording of the same title, each piece bears the inimitable Petteway signature of profoundly graceful, inspired innovation. Written in standard notation and tab with several pieces in alternate tunings. Al began his professional music career at the age of 11. He played guitar, drums, and string bass with a variety of rock and folk acts in the Washington D.C. area during the 60’s, becoming a local legend by the time he went to college to study music composition in 1970. In 1977, Al took a job with The National Geographic Society. His work as Supervisor of Picture Editing for the society’s Image Collection, gave him the artistic freedom to develop his own acoustic guitar style. While long recognized as one of the country’s foremost bluegrass and folk sidemen, Celtic music specialty label Maggie’s Music signed Al in 1993 and released Whispering Stones following by The Waters and the Wild-exposing his solo acoustic guitar work to an international audience for the first time. Al left the National Geographic to become a full-time musician in the spring of 1995, just before the release of Midsummer Moon.

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1102997 Composed by Jeremiah Lawson. Blues,Classical,Rock. Individual part. 7 pages. Jeremiah Lawson #706323. Published by Jeremiah Lawson (A0.1102997). This is a 7-page score for solo guitar in two-movements, both in C minor. The opening sonata-prelude has an exposition, development and recapitulation and uses two themes, both of which use the gesture of a rising second as either core thematic or accompaniment material. There are places indicated in the score where a performer can improvise embellishments or substitutions in the return of Theme 1 in the recapitulation. The fugue is written in three voices with a subject and countersubject. It has two expositions, the first based on the primary form and the second on a somewhat free retrograde form of the initial fugue subject. I use fragmented forms of the subject to create blues and 5/4 episodes after the grand stretto that signals the structural climax of the fugue. This work is pretty difficult but although I wrote it on classical guitar it may also be played on acoustic or electric guitars with whatever timbre modifications strike your fancy.

Guitar - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q11491 London Manuscript No. 23. Composed by Silvius Leopold Weiss. This edition: Sheet music. Guitar Archive. Downloadable. Schott Music - Digital #Q11491. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q11491). Silvius Leopold Weiss (1686–1750) is considered to be the most important lutenist of the Baroque era. His works fascinate with elegance and grandeur on the lute. This effect is achieved by making the best possible use of the temperament of the Baroque lute with which third intervals – in contrast to fourths on the guitar – are predominant. The pieces are composed in such a way that the lutenist can often strike open strings and seldom has to manage difficult fingerings or stretch the left hand. When arranging these works for the guitar, the composer's main aim was to maintain the resulting ease of playing on the guitar and the ornaments typical of Weiss (especially the acciaccaturas) as best as possible. The approach to the lute's temperament therefore is cautious, without the player having to adjust significantly.
